Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 165,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.
This week we’ve got lots of new products that are perfect for the weather warming up, and Summer rolling in ☀️ I’m excited, are you?
Lidl “Hippopotaspuds” Mini Potatoes – Free Food
First up are Lidl’s brand new “Hippopotaspuds” mini potatoes, which really look fab.
They’re part of Lidl’s new “Fun Size” range of vegetables, with an aim to get kids more interested in vegetables.
We featured Unicorn Carrots a few weeks ago too. They were so popular with many Lidl stores selling out.
I think this is such a good idea, and it makes Slimming World free foods a little more interesting too.
The “Hippopotaspuds” look like a cross between mini white & red potatoes. So ingenious!
“Hippopotaspuds” Mini Potatoes are available in Lidl stores from next week, no word on pricing just yet.
Tesco Frozen Pomegranate Seeds – Free Food
We adore Pomegranate seeds and go through tonnes of them in the summer months.
Sadly fresh pomegranate seeds go off really quickly and deseeding a Pomegranate can be a thankless/dangerous task for many.
Tesco have just brought out these 300g bags of Pomegranate seeds – which is the equivalent of approx 4 Pomegranates worth of seeds. Not bad!
They’re available now in the frozen aisle and priced at just £2 a bag.
Tesco Imperfect Mixed Berries – Free Food
Sticking with Tesco, they seem to be adding a lot of new products to their frozen range of late.
A few of our members of our Facebook group are going crazy over these Imperfect Berries as they are so cheap.
They are priced at £2.75 per kg/27.p per 100g and Tesco’s regular frozen mixed fruits are priced at £4 per kg/40p per 100g. So they’re nearly half the price!
Inside, you’ve got a mix of strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
They’re perfect if you like to have overnight oats a lot, or even our “Posh” Tiramisu Overnight Oats!
Yorkshire Tea – Bedtime Brew – Syn Free
If you like your tea, but not too keen on the unwanted effects of caffeine of an evening, then you could give this a whirl.
Bedtime Brew, from Yorkshire Tea, delivers the warm, satisfying taste of Yorkshire Tea, gently decaffeinated and blended with lemon balm and nutmeg.
It’s the same high quality you would expect from one of the countries favourite tea makers.
You can pick them up for at £2.28 for 40 bags in Morrisons and Tesco now, and Waitrose should have them soon. Hopefully, more supermarkets will be stocking them too!
Robinsons Refresh’d Drinks – Syns To Be Confirmed
Robinsons has announced a new drink that will offer people a tasty way to keep their thirst quenched on-the-go.
Launching today, Robinsons Refresh’d is made using 100% naturally sourced ingredients, containing spring water mixed with real fruit.
Available in three tasty flavour combinations – Raspberry & Apple, Orange & Lime and Apple & Kiwi – Robinsons Refresh’d is made with real fruit and no added sugar.
At just 55kcal per 500 ml serving and with no artificial colours, flavourings, sweeteners or preservatives, this low sugar product looks like it’ll be just 3 Syns a bottle, but that’s to be confirmed.
Robinsons Refresh’d is available now and priced at around £1 a bottle.
Alpro Coconut Original – 1 Syn per 100ml
I know that you’ve been able to get these for a while now in 1l cartons, but it turns out the smaller 330ml cartons are a seasonal product (who knew).
Alpro Coconut Original is fab if you’re not keen on cows milk or dairy, as your HEA or you can even use it as a replacement for Syn-laden Coconut Milk.
We use it in place of Coconut milk in our 0.5 Syn Satay Skewers, and they taste just like something you’d get from a Thai restaurant, albeit a great deal lower in Syns!
Sticking with Alpro Coconut you can also get the Chocolate flavour in a 330ml carton too!
I don’t know about you but I REALLY miss a chocolate milkshake. This Alpro Coconut Chocolate flavour is the perfect way to get rid of that craving!
You can even enjoy 300ml as your Healthy Extra, which means it’s a permanent fixture in our fridge.
You can grab both the Original and Chocolate from most supermarkets.
Honey Monster Oat Puffs – Syns To be Confirmed
We don’t know a whole bunch about this new cereal from the Honey Monster, but there is a possibility that it may be Slimming World friendly.
We’ve had a sneak peek at the nutritional values and we’re very hopeful that they’ll be friendly, and perhaps even a B-choice!
As you’ve probably noticed, most breakfast cereals have had the amount of sugar in them reduced, in an effort to perhaps avoid the sugar tax.
We all know Sugar puffs are very high in Syns, but these might not be. Watch this space!
Muller Lights – Kremas – 1 Syn Each
Müller has just launched Muller Light Kremas – a whipped Greek-style yogurt and are available in three different flavours.
New Kremas – part of the Müllerlight range – are fat-free whipped yogurts in strawberry, raspberry and pomegranate, and mango and passionfruit flavours.
The yogurts are sold in packs of four 100g pots with a recommended retail price of £2.89. They will initially be available in Asda, with other retailers to follow in April and May.
They’re just 1 Syn a pot too, a very welcome addition to our fridge! You could even enjoy them with some Syn Free Strawberry & Vanilla Waffles.
Aero Heavenly Frozen Mousse – Might Be 5.5 Syns Per 57g (to be confirmed)
Aero have just launched the ‘Heavenly’ range.
It’s being marketed as a premium mousse and comes in 170g tubs, which is about 3 times the size of the Aero Mousse we all know and love.
They are available from Asda in Salted Caramel & Pecan or Chocolate with Salted Caramel & Hazelnut flavours and work out at 17 Syns for the whole tub.
According to the nutritional information, the tub will yield 3 servings, so that works out at around 5.5 Syns for 57g.
Don’t forget this was worked out using the online calculator, so it may be different when it appears on the app.
Aero Heavenly will be available in the chilled dairy section of most supermarkets this spring, but at the moment they are only in Asda for £1.30.
Hellmann’s Lighter Than Light Mayo – 0.5 Syns Per Tablespoon
Whilst Hellmann’s Lighter Than Light Mayonnaise (our mayonnaise of choice!) isn’t a new product, we thought it would be worth mentioning here as the whole Hellmann’s range is undergoing a huge rebrand.
This will see new pack designs for all their mayonnaise. So if you’re looking for it on the shelves keep your eyes peeled because it looks a bit different now!
Aldi Ready Set Cook – Chinese Chicken Stir Fry Meal – Might be 4 Syns
It seems Aldi have been rather busy of late developing these quick and easy meal kits.
This chinese Chicken Stir Fry Meal kit can be cooked in just 13 minutes, and according to our calculations comes out at around 4 Syns.
Please be aware that this isn’t an official calculation and may change when it appears on the app.
Especially the Lamb Rogan Josh at just 1.5 Syns for the whole pack.
Tesco Cooking Peppers – 600g Pack – Super Speed Food
After the pepper shortage in January, it looks like packs of peppers are coming back into supermarkets!
We go through an alarming amount of peppers each week, so I’m pretty happy that the prices of them are coming down.
You get around 7-8 peppers in a pack and are priced at just £1.10. Absolute bargain. Hopefully, the other supermarkets will start to reintroduce them soon!
M&S 3% Fat Greek Style Frozen Yogurts
We’re not sure if these are new, but we suspect they’ve been out before and they are another seasonal item back for the summer.
We know they are available in 3 different flavours;
- Peach & Apricot Ripple
- Raspberry & Blackcurrant Ripple
- Honey Swirls
They’re all available in 500ml tubs, but we don’t have any further info on them.
We have contacted M&S for some more details, and we’ll update the page when we have some more info.
Oreo Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwich – 6 Syns Each
We’re a massive fan of the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream sandwiches (at 4 Syns each, who isn’t!!) and were delighted to see these in the supermarket this week.
They’re pretty nice, albeit a little on the sweet side. They’re not something I’d eat every day, nor suggest you do either.
Each one is just 6 Syns, which isn’t too bad for a little bit of indulgence… is it?
You can grab them in most major supermarkets priced at around £2 a box.
Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Wich – 11 Syns Each
Another Ben & Jerry’s Wich, this time of the Chocolate Fudge Brownie variety.
We wouldn’t usually include a product with such a high Syn value, but there are delicious and totally work it if you want to use most of your daily allowance.
They’re are 80ml, and are quite big, so you could cut them in half and leave half in the freezer to enjoy another time.
There is a possibility that Ben & Jerry’s may release a smaller version, just like they did with the regular Wich’s 😱 Let’s hope so!
You can grab these in Asda, with more supermarkets following suit soon.
Lickalix Alcoholic Ice Lollies – Syns To Be Confirmed
Lickalix make gourmet ice lollies, including some adult only ones that are just like a cocktail on a stick!
They’ve brought out 3 new flavours for the summer months; Strawberry Lemonade, Strawberry Mojito and Pina Colada.
All of them contain Rum to give you a different take on your favourite cocktails.
Now Syn wise, these come out at 2.5 Syns for the 2 strawberry ones, and 4.5 for the Pina Colada.
However, bear in mind that these aren’t on the app yet so they were put through the online calculator, and considering they all contain some alcohol they may be slightly higher if they are given an official Sys value.
You can pick them up in packs of 3 from Ocado.
