Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 170,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!), one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.
This week we’ve got lots of new products that are perfect for the weather warming up, and Summer rolling in ☀️ Drinks, ice creams and soooo much more!
New Full Size Garlic Frylight – Syn Free
Garlic Frylight has been available for a while now, but you can get it in a full sized bottle from JUNE!
You can get garlic Frylight in most supermarkets now and it’s perfect for making our Syn Free Garlic Bread!
Strawberries – Speed Food
The start of the Strawberry season is here! You’ll find Strawberries on offer everywhere over Easter, including these massive crates from Tesco for just £3!
You can, of course, get Strawberries all year round, but in my opinion, nothing beats British Strawberries!
They’re just so versatile, and you can have them at any time of day. Personally, I adore them stuffed with some cheesecake and a bit of biscuit crumbled over the top.
Talking of which, we have a recipe! Check out our 1 Syn Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries.
M&S Frozen Heritage Carrots – Free Food
We do like to keep things interesting with our fruit and veg, and we’re always on the look out for something different.
Usually, heritage carrots cost a small fortune, but not these frozen heritage carrots from Marks & Spencers.
Just £1.50 a pack, and are so, so nice. I’m not easily impressed with frozen veg, but these are fab.
If you prefer fresh heritage carrots, you can grab “Unicorn Carrots” from Lidl!
M&S Sweet Potato Chunks – Free Food
Like I was saying above, it’s so difficult to find interesting frozen vegetables!
These M&S Sweet Potato Chunks are fab roasted and added to a warm salad or some cous cous.
You could even use them in some Syn Free Butternut Squash & Sweet Potato Soup!
Asda Frozen Herb Mix – Syn Free
Asda have added to their Scratch Cook range!
You can now pick up an Italian Herb Mix, Chopped Parsley, Chopped Basil and a Thai Herb Blend. They join the rather generous range, which includes;
- Chopped Garlic
- Chopped Ginger
- Chopped Coriander
- Chopped Chilli
You’ll find them all in the freezers, near the frozen veg and cost £1.50 for a 60-75g bag, depending on the herb.
Asda Rhubarb & Vanilla Yogurts – Syn Free
Asda have had this particular flavour available in larger tubs, for a while now, but not in smaller pots.
Now they do! You can tell whenever this has been mentioned at any of the local Slimming World clubs, as there’s none left on the shelf.
In my opinion, they’re a nicer alternative to Muller Lights. You can get them in Asda now.
Aldi Specially Selected Mini Hot Cross Buns – 5 Syns Each
Here’s another mini hot cross bun to add to the collection thanks to Aldi.
These new Mini Hot Cross Buns are just £1.50 a pack, and are available now.
If you can’t find them, you could always try these others, they are available from Waitrose and are beautiful. Full of fruit and just 4.5 Syns each.
Alternatively, if you like a bit of Chocolate you can try these M&S Mini Choc Orange Hot Cross Buns. They’re just 4.5 Syns each.
Also at M&S we have these luxurious Hot Cross Buns at just 5 Syns each. Plenty of choices this Easter!
M&S Cottage Cheese Protein Pots
Can you tell we did our weekly shop at M&S yet?! We spotted Cottage Cheese Protein Pots these near the cooked meats.
All of the pots are 100g in size, which makes them perfect for lunch on the go or even a picnic. They come in three different flavours;
- Smoked Salmon & Dill – Syn free
- Pineapple – 1 Syn
- Red Pepper & Chickpea – 0.5 Syns
They’re all priced at just £1 a pot, and are available in M&S stores now!
We enjoyed the Smoked Salmon & Dill Cottage Cheese Protein Pot in a jacket potato. Beautiful!
M&S 3% Fat Greek Style Frozen Yogurt – Vanilla – 4 Syns/100ml
We covered the other flavours of the 3% Fat Frozen greek yoghurt a few weeks ago, but M&S have added a vanilla flavour to the range too!
With these being so new, they may take a few weeks for them to appear in your local store.
It’s been a while since I’ve had a low-fat frozen yoghurt that doesn’t taste tangy, and this is beautiful. You might find it a little difficult to stop at 100ml!
M&S Diet Sparkling Drink – Cloudy Apple
M&S have this knack of knowing what works when it comes to food and drink, and these diet sparkling drinks are fabulous!
Here we have Cloudy Apple, which works out at just 0.5 Syns/250ml. It has no added sugar and is included in the meal deals.
Most M&S Simply Food stores have these, but as with all summer products, they may take a couple of weeks to appear everywhere.
Bottle Green Sparkling Infusions – 2.5 Syns Each
This month sees the launch of Bottlegreen Sparkling Infusions – a trio of naturally flavoured sparkling waters.
With each can containing less than 50 calories, the company said the new range taps into the growing healthier living trend.
We don’t know where or when they’ll be available so keep your eyes peeled.
M&S Watermelon & Coconut White Tea – Syn Free
This is a light and refreshing tea, flavoured with watermelon and coconut.
There’s no added sugar, so it comes out as Syn free using the online calculator. It’s not been added to Syns Online yet, but as it’s so low in calories we think it will probably remain Syn free if and when it’s added to the database.
It’s a lovely, refreshing and perfect if you fancy something a little bit different. Another great addition to your shopping list in the upcoming Summer months.
Even More Aldi Cooked Meats
Last week we told you about some new ready to eat chicken products from Aldi, and this week we have some more for you!
Sweet & Smoked Hickory Flavour Chicken Slices
These are 100% British chicken, sprinkled with sweet red bell pepper and coriander flakes.
They’re great eaten hot or cold, on their own, with a salad or on your on a sandwich for lunch.
They’re just 1.5 Syns a pack!
Moroccan Style Mini Chicken Fillets – 2.5 Syns Per Pack
As with all the new Ready To Eat chicken products we’ve featured, these are 100% British Chicken, and they can be eaten hot or cold.
This particular one is flavoured with a cumin, coriander and smoked paprika marinade.
They work out at 2.5 Syns for the whole pack according to the Syns calculator, but as always, keep an eye
Rendang Style Chicken Kebabs – 1.5 Syns Per Skewer
These chicken kebabs are infused with red chilli and natural lemongrass and come with a sour cream dip.
We haven’t got the full nutritional values for these, but we’ve been told that they come out at around 1.5 Syns per kebab, including the dip, when they are put through the Syn calculator.
If you’re thinking of trying these I’d recommend you run them through the calculator yourself just to be sure, until they have an official Syn value.
Don’t forget to give it a free food allowance for chicken!
WKD NKD – 5 Syns A Bottle
NKD has the same 4% abv as WKD but less than half the calorie content per 275ml bottle and it has a lighter taste.
They’re available in 2 flavours; Lemon & Lime and Blueberry & Elderflower and each will cost you 5 Syns per bottle.
These were launched last year, but they’re available again in time for the warm weather.
You can pick them up from Tesco for around £1.20 or Sainsbury’s for £1.75.
Remember Lo-Lo Cheese? It’s Now Go Go’s
Lo-Lo has decided to have a rebrand, and what was Lo-Lo cheese is now known Go-Go’s.
The nutritional values are exactly the same, so you shouldn’t have to worry about any Syn value changes.
Go-Go’s spreadable comes in two varieties;
- Mature Cheddar
- Mature Cheddar with cracked black pepper
It’s one of our favourite spreadable cheeses and is perfect to add into our Syn Free Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta. It’s soooooo nice!
Iceland Mini Vienna’s – 3 Syns Each
These 3 Syn treats are a vanilla flavour ice cream ripple dessert with chocolate layers. Think Viennetta on a stick!
Iceland brought these out this week, and they’ve been causing quite a stir on Facebook, so get them while you can because it looks like they’re going to be quite popular over the upcoming Summer months.
You can pick up a box of 5 for £1.50, so that’s 30p each, which I think is pretty good.
Kopparberg Light Raspberry – 4 Syns/250ml Can
Kopparberg caused quite a stir last year when they brought out their Kopparberg Light with Summer Fruits.
This year they’re adding to the Light range with the introduction of Kopparberg Light with Raspberry.
It’s another great lower calorie option for those that enjoy a fruit cider during the spring and summer months.
It works out at 4 Syns per 250ml can and is available now from Tesco for £1.60 a can. Asda will be stocking it towards the end of May and other stores following suit later in the summer.
