Aldi’s New Slimming Ready Meals Syns Update | Slimming World

Slimming World have announced today that they are prepared to review Aldi’s new range of slimming ready meals, SlimWell, to assess them for their Syn values.

This is with the intention of adding them to to the Syns database.

The move comes after Aldi launched their SlimFree range of ready meals late last year.

The main selling point of these meals were the fact that they were much cheaper, and calorie content was lower than the Slimming World ready meals.

Slimming World reacted to this news with legal action, as the Daily Mirror reported at the time, stating that Aldi were including whether the meals were Free or not on the Food Optimising plan, something Slimming World had not confirmed.

Now, however, Slimming World have today released a statement regarding Aldi’s new range of SlimWell ready meals, which have been released since the new year:

‘Since the beginning of January, Aldi have started to introduce a new SlimWell frozen meal range to replace their SlimFree range, which Slimming World agreed with them at the end of last year.’

‘The SlimFree packaging may still be available in Aldi stores during January, while the range is repackaged.

Once this has been done and the products are no longer on sale, Slimming World will assess the entire SlimWell frozen food range and add the meals to our food database as we would with any new products.’

‘In the meantime, members who want to be certain of how to keep weight losses safe and sound, and want to know how any of the Aldi products fit with Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan, can use Slimming World’s online Syns calculator, which will give an estimated Syn value.’

This is good news for Slimming World members, who may be able to search for the new Aldi SlimWell Syn values on the Slimming World app as soon as they have been added.

  1. I’ve just tried the Slim Well cottage pie which had the most unusual taste and texture which was not pleasant at all. I won’t be trying any other Slim Well meals, I can make better myself.

  2. I just tried the cottage pie too and while it’s not as good (naturally) as home made it was ok I enjoyed it and its quick and easy when in a hurry

  3. I just tried the cottage pie and I’m not that picky an eater but must say I did not enjoy it at all and won’t risk trying anymore of the Aldi diet range now 🙁 massive thumbs down.

You’ll need to get in touch with Slimming World directly, as they’ve said they will evaluate these meals, with a view to adding them to the database.
