We’ve got a bit of breaking news for you this morning! On the Pinch Of Nom Facebook group, several members have posted information given to them by their consultants to state that they have received reports that blueberries are now classed as a Speed Food!

“The fabulous news for Slimming World members is blueberries now qualify as a Speed Free Food on our Food Optimising eating plan, which is a classification given to foods that are very low in energy density (calories) so are especially good for weight loss.

Every year we use a range of sources to gather the latest nutrition information about basic, everyday foods and we check all of our Free Food products against these. We also continually monitor information declared on packaging.

“This information shows that the varieties of blueberries we’re currently eating in the UK and Ireland are on average lower in calories than in previous years. We’re now eating blueberries grown in and imported from many different countries meaning that they’re exposed to different climates, soils and harvesting and growing conditions, which can all impact on their composition.

As a result, blueberries now qualify as not just a Free Food (foods which can be enjoyed freely by our members without weighing, counting and measuring), but as a Speed Free Food, so they are ideal for snacking on, for sprinkling on your breakfast or enjoying as part of a dessert after a delicious healthy meal.”
