The news follows another recent announcement; the Syn Changes to Muller Lights, Instant Mash and Pasta, which got everyone talking back in September.

We always advise Slimming World group members who’d like to learn more about the changes to speak to their Consultant. Online members will be able to find an update at Slimming World Online.

Why are Slimming World making these changes?

A Slimming World spokesperson has said;

‘Our Nutrition team routinely reviews our healthy eating plan in line with latest international guidance, and we’ve made a number of updates to Food Optimising for 2019.

We’re excited about these changes and hope members will be too. As well as making our plan even more flexible and sustainable, they also ensure that we’re giving the most up-to-date health advice.’

When do the new changes to the Slimming World Extra Easy Plan take effect?

All existing and new Slimming World members attending weekly groups between December 24th and January 13th will receive a free limited-edition New Member Pack.

This pack celebrates Slimming World’s Golden Anniversary year and will include the new plan changes announced today.

How many Healthy Extra A options do I get on the Extra Easy Plan now?

The Extra Easy Plan will now include an additional Healthy Extra A choice each day.

So now you can enjoy two Healthy Extra A choices, there is no need to choose between cheese and milk, or to split the quantities to enjoy both!

This is great news for those who enjoy tea and coffee with milk, as they will still be able to enjoy a portion of cheese with their dinner, or just as a tasty damn snack.

I may or may not be all in favour of this change!

If you love cheese as much as I do, why not try our recipe for Chicken Tartiflette!

Increase of some Healthy Extra A amounts

Many of these changes to the Extra Easy Plan have been made to help boost the calcium intake of members.

With extra cheese on the menu, who can complain about that?

There’s also an increase in the amount of whole cow’s milk available to members within the Healthy Extra A allowance. Instead of 175ml, the new allowance will be 200ml.

It doesn’t sound like a lot, but for tea & coffee lovers, it’ll make all the difference!

Decrease of some dairy-free Healthy Extra A amounts

As part of the announcement, Slimming World have said that as more products are now available in the dairy-free market, the average nutrition values of rice and almond milk have changed.

As a result, Healthy Extra A measurements of rice and almond milk have decreased to 400ml to preserve members’ losses.

However, remember that you will have 2 Healthy Extra A allowances, so you will be able to use up to 800ml if you don’t use your second allowance elsewhere.

Removal of some Healthy Extra A choices

Some products, including sweetened dairy-free milk, reduced-fat/light soft cheese and soft goat’s cheese, are no longer classed as Healthy Extras.

This means that when the new plan goes live, soft cheeses like Philadelphia Light will most likely need to be counted as part of your Syn allowance.

If you like to use cream cheese in your cooking, now might be the time to switch to Quark!

When used correctly it adds the same creamy consistency to recipes and it’s a Free and P (protein-rich) food on the Extra Easy plan.

Find out more about what Quark is here and how to use it here.

How many Healthy Extra B options do I get on the Extra Easy Plan now?

You are still allowed one Healthy Extra B choice when following the Slimming World Extra Easy Plan.

There doesn’t appear to be any changes to this at the moment.

However, those that like to follow Extra Easy SP days will notice a change to the amount of Healthy Extra B choices they can have.

The full details of the changes to quantities will be listed in the member packs available as mentioned previously.

What are the changes to Slimming World SP days?

Extra Easy SP days are used by many Slimming World members to boost their weight loss.

Under the current plan, Extra Easy SP involves eating only Free foods with the S (Speed) and P (Protein) symbols next to them, and your plate should have half of each.

You are also allowed 1 Healthy Extra A choice and 2 Healthy Extra B choices. In addition you can have 15 Syns.

Under the changes announced today there are some significant changes to this.

On SP days, members can now have 2 Healthy Extra A choices and only 1 Healthy Extra B choice. This is in line with the changes to the Extra Easy plan.

There is also a change to the Syn allowance when following SP. Members will now be allowed 10 Syns per day when they are doing an SP day.

Lovers of SP will also need to be aware of changes to Free foods listed as P (Protein), as there have been changes to some of these as well.

Full details of the changes will be listed in the new members packs mentioned previously.

What are the changes to Free Foods with the P (Protein) symbol?

In today’s announcement, Slimming World have said that a handful of Free Foods that were previously labelled as ‘P’ will no longer be marked in this way.

These foods are; baked beans, broad beans, mung beans and all varieties of peas (except split peas).

However, these foods will still be Free.

This means that they can be enjoyed without weighing, counting or measuring. However, they will no longer be available as an option when following SP days.

How are my favourite Pinch Of Nom recipes affected by these changes?

As the changes to the plan are not taking effect until after Christmas, the recipes on the Pinch Of Nom site will remain as they are until the new Extra Easy guidelines go live.

Once the new plan information is issued to members in the form of updated packs, we will amend the recipes on the site to reflect the changes.

I have lots of questions about these changes!

As mentioned, this latest update will be included in all Slimming World’s new member information from Christmas.

We always advise Slimming World group members who’d like to learn more about the changes to speak to their Consultant. Online members will be able to find an update at Slimming World Online.

Any additional queries should be directed to Slimming World directly.

    1. Hi Laura
So pleased you found it helpful. As we’ve stated in the article, the first source for information should always be the Slimming World website and your own SW consultant. The information in this article was taken from the press release issued by Slimming World earlier this week.

    1. Thanks for getting in touch, Vicky.
The Online Membership section of the website should be updated when the new books are issued. 🙂

  2. Hi,
I am doing SP this week, I can’t remember if I am allowed any B for my healthy Extra or it has to be the ones in the book with S next to it?

  3. Do you know how this will affect the allowances for pregnant women on Extra Easy? Will they be allowed 3 As and 2Bs or just 2 of each as before? Thanks.

    1. Hi Charlie
SW have quite strict guidelines for those that are following the plan whilst pregnant, which should only be done after consultation with your midwife or doctor. When the plan is updated, any changes for pregnant women will be updated too.

If you are a SW member you can take a look at this article on the SW website, and if you attend group you should speak to your consultant.
