Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 659,000 members it keeps going up each week!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly, for our New Slimming World Shopping Essentials list!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), but you can join up using the link below for the latest news and discussions on brand new Slimming World-friendly products.

Slimming World recommend having 1/3 Speed Food with every meal where appropriate as part of the Extra Easy plan. If you’re not sure whether your fruit and vegetable choices are Speed Foods, you can check our Speed Foods list.
We check the supermarkets and food websites every week to find a selection of new products and special offers to help you stay on plan with Slimming World.
Sainsbury’s Exotic Fruit Salad
We love spotting new fruit combinations in the supermarket. This sort of fruit selection is a quick and easy way to grab a Syn free snack if you’re out and about.
This fruit pot is a little bit different, and it sounds delicious. A mix of pineapple, melon, mango, watermelon and kiwi.
Very exotic indeed! The only speed fruit in that collection is the melon, all the rest are free. Still a great snack that’s on plan and super tasty!
The Sainsbury’s Exotic Fruit Salad costs £2.00 for a 240g pot from Sainsbury’s.
Strawberry Flavour Burst Grapes
Cotton Candy and Tropical grapes appeared on the scene a couple of years ago and caused quite a stir.
Grapes with the natural flavour of candy floss or tropical fruits, created from a hybrid of different varieties of grape.
There’s nothing artificial about them, just a super sweet, cotton candy flavour or tropical flavour. The grapes have a pretty short season, usually only around 6 – 8 weeks, so they’re never around for long.
Now those clever grape growers have come up with these – Strawberry Flavour Burst seedless grapes.
The grapes are small, similar in size to a large raisin, and have a genuinely strawberry-like flavour. They’re free on Slimming World, but not speed.
Tesco are selling the Strawberry Flavour Burst grapes in a 400g punnet which costs £2.00.
Growers Harvest British Mushy Peas
Mushy peas are a good old British staple.
Whether you’re eating them with fish and chips or in our famous Syn Free Mushy Pea Curry, they’re a filling and nutritious choice.
Peas are free, and a protein food too!
This Syn Free Mushy Pea curry is a family favourite in our house, really tasty and so easy to make! It freezes well too, so I make this one regularly.
Tesco Buckwheat Fusilli
New pasta products are being introduced all the time to the supermarket shelves.
We’ve seen various products being used to make pasta so that those with restricted dietary requirements can enjoy it too.
We love pasta in all forms, and we have loads of recipes for it on the website! Have you tried our Syn Free Pasta Bolognese Bake yet? Full of flavour and loved by everyone, so it’s a winner for dinner.
Buckwheat Fusilli pasta is made with buckwheat flour and has a toasted flavour. It’s also gluten free. As with all dried pasta, this is free on the Slimming World plan.
Tesco Brown Rice Fusilli
I mentioned previously that pasta can be made from many different ingredients, and here’s another.
Tesco Brown Rice Fusilli is ideal to use for any pasta dish, including our scrummy Syn Free Chicken Fajita Pasta. Nom! Why not try this for dinner tonight?!
As it’s made from brown rice, this pasta has an earthy, nutty flavour.
It cooks in just 9 minutes, too! It’s suitable for a gluten free diet and free on Slimming World.
Batchelors Super Risotto
Batchelors is a brand synonymous with convenience foods. From instant noodles, to snack pots and savoury rice, there are many to choose from.
Slimming World changed the Syn values on instant noodle products like this at the beginning of the year. If you missed the announcement and would like to read more about it, click here.
Batchelors have added Super Risotto to their range of convenience foods, combining parboiled rice with other ingredients.
There are two varieties, Chicken & Chorizo at 2.5 Syns per pack and Tomato & Basil at 1.5 Syns per pack. The Tomato & Basil Syn Value has been calculated, but the Chicken & Chorizo is on the SW app.
Sainsbury’s Vegan Cumberland Shroomdogs
Sainsbury’s launched a new range of vegetarian products at the beginning of the year. We featured some of them in our first Slimming World Shopping Essentials round up of 2018.
Now Sainsbury’s have introduced a vegan version of their Cumberland Shroomdogs. They are a vegetable based take on a classic sausage.
Made from mushrooms and seasoned with a vibrant peppery warmth.
Sainsbury’s Love Your Veg! Vegan Cumberland Shroomdogs have had some great reviews on the Sainsbury’s website, too.
You could use them to make this gorgeous Low Syn Sausage Hash.
The sausages are listed on the SW database at 4 Syns each. You can pick up a pack of 6 Vegan Cumberland Shroomdog sausages for £2.25 in Sainsbury’s.
Aunt Bessie’s Sweet Potato Lattices
Aunt Bessie has been busy in the kitchen again, bless her! Back in March we wrote about the frozen vegetable chips made from carrot and swede in our Slimming World Shopping Essentials round up.
My daughter spotted these Aunt Bessie’s Sweet Potato Lattices in Tesco earlier this week. She’d accompanied me on my weekly search of supermarkets for new products.
These lattice shaped sweet potato slices look very similar to the butternut squash squaffles, but these Aunt Bessie’s Lattices carry a Syn value.
This is because they’ve been battered and pre-fried prior to freezing. They’re 5.5 Syns per 100g on Syns Online.
Tofurky Hickory Smoke Flavour Turkey Style Deli Slices
When I was a student, I went through a vegetarian phase. There wasn’t always much choice when it came to sandwich fillings, other than cheese.
Thankfully, there’s an ever-increasing range of vegetarian products on the market these days.
Tofurky Hickory Smoked Turkey Style deli slices are made from Tofu, which is a plant based protein.
They’re suitable for vegans and vegetarians and would be ideal for salads, sandwiches and more. A 52g serving is 1.5 Syns on the database.
You’ll find Tofurky in Sainsbury’s, where a 156g pack of Tofurky deli slices costs £2.50.
Tesco Tuna/Salmon Salad Pots
There are questions that come up often in the Facebook group about what you can grab for a quick lunch if you’ve forgotten yours.
I regularly grab a packet of cooked ham or chicken and a punnet of salad or tomatoes for a quick fix.
These new Tuna or Salmon Salad Pots from Tesco are a really tasty change for lunch if you’re short on time.
You can grab one of these as a super quick option. There are four varieties;
- Italian Inspired Tuna Salad with a basil pesto dressing – 5 Syns
- Mexican Inspired Tuna Salad with a spiced tomato dressing – 4.5 Syns
- Mediterranean Inspired Tuna Salad with a tomato & herb dressing – 4 Syns
- Moroccan Inspired Salmon Salad with a cumin & coriander dressing – 5 Syns
These Syn values have been calculated using the calculator on the SW website.
Each pot contains skipjack tuna or salmon with a carefully chosen mix of beans and vegetables in a flavoured dressing. They’re ready to eat straight from the tin.
Metcalfe’s Sweet Chilli Popcorn
If you’re a savoury snack fan, rather than having a sweet-tooth like me, you may be interested in this. Metcalfe’s have launched Sweet Chilli popcorn and it’s rather good!
Metcalfe’s make a range of Skinny popcorn flavours – Sweet and Salty, Cinema Sweet and Salted Caramel.
Ideal as a relatively low Syn snacking option for those evening munchies.
I’m a certified sweet treat lover, I’ll choose sweet over savoury virtually every time. I bought this to try, thinking I’d pass it on to my husband…but he didn’t get a look in!
Metcalfe’s Sweet Chilli skinny popcorn works out at 6 Syns per 25g serving using the snackulator on the Slimming World website. It costs £1.49 for a 75g bag from Tesco. You can find it here, on the Tesco website.
Aldi Milk Chocolate Coated Rice Cake Bars
Someone shared these Chocolate coated rice cake bars in the Facebook group earlier this week. We love it when people share their finds or new discoveries in the group, as sharing helps everyone!
These Aldi Harvest Morn milk chocolate coated rice cake bars are quite a substantial snack. but they’re a little dry on their own. They’re great with a cup of tea, though!
They are on the Slimming World database for 4.5 Syns each. According to the database there’s also a dark chocolate orange coated version too, although I didn’t spot that when I was in Aldi this week. Worth looking out for, as they have the same Syn value.
A box of 5 x 18g bars costs 85p from Aldi.
Aldi Milk Chocolate coated Rice Cakes
Whilst I was looking in Aldi this week I spotted these Milk Chocolate coated rice cakes too. If you like Snack-a-jack style treats then these might be for you.
Each 17g rice cake works out at 4 Syns, using the Syns calculator on the Slimming World website.
The rice cakes are half coated in milk chocolate and are packaged in 3s, so you’ll need to share with someone, or make sure you have an airtight container to store them in.
You get 3 packs of 3 rice cakes per packet.
Aldi Harvest Morn Milk Chocolate coated rice cakes cost £1.05 per packet in Aldi stores.
Cadbury Joy Fills
I was browsing around on Instagram the other night and spotted these beauties. The following morning I made it my mission to track them down and investigate further.
My mission obviously involved buying some to try, so that I could give a personal verdict. Well…mission completed! (Although I didn’t eat them all, my family helped too!)
There are four varieties, two with an Oreo theme and two with a Cadbury theme;
- Oreo Choco Caramel Creme
- Oreo Creme
- Choco Cookie Creme
- Milk Chocolate Creme
They are like tiny crispy wheat pillows, with a soft creme filling. A 25g serving of these (any flavour) is 5.5 Syns, using the snackulator on the Slimming World website.
Cadbury Joy Fills are sold in 90g bags and cost £1.50 in Sainsbury’s.
Nescafé Gold Cool Mint Mocha Sachets
Most of the big coffee brands now do coffee shop style sachets that you can make at home.
For example, last week we featured the Kenco Iced Latte range in the Slimming World Shopping Essentials guide.
Nescafé also make their own range of coffee shop style beverages, including this instant Cool Mint Mocha flavour.
Oreo Flavour Instant Hot Chocolate drink
This new Oreo flavour instant hot chocolate drink looks fab, but it is NOT low calorie, so please make sure you don’t mistake it for the lower Syn hot chocolates that are available.
The recommended serving size is 28g, mixed with 200ml of hot water.
Coco Fuzion Coconut Water drinks
I grabbed a pack of these when I spotted them on the shelf in Sainsbury’s the other day. Sparkling coconut water drinks that are 100% natural, not from concentrate and with no preservatives.
There are 2 flavours available, raspberry and mango. I’ve tried the raspberry flavour and it’s really refreshing. It’s definitely best served chilled, so make sure you pop them into the fridge to enjoy them properly.
Using the Syns calculator, they work out at 3 Syns per can. A pack of 6 x 250ml cans costs £3.95 from Sainsbury’s.
Aqua Libra Infused
We’ve found some more drink ideas for you this week. Firstly we have Aqua Libra Infused sparkling water drinks. These are free from sugar, sweeteners or anything artificial.
There are two flavours, Grapefruit & Pineapple or Raspberry & Apple. Both are made with sparkling water, infused with natural flavours. They are both free on Syns Online.
Perrier and Juice Peach & Cherry
Everybody knows the familiar teardrop shape of the green Perrier bottle, but this is something new from Perrier. Sparkling natural mineral water mixed with fruit juices from concentrate.
We’ve used the Syns calculator to work these out at 2.5 Syns per 250ml can. At the moment we think this is the only flavour available, but it certainly looks interesting.
