Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 190,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!), one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.
This week we’ve got lots of new products that are perfect for the weather warming up, and Summer rolling in ☀️ Drinks, ice cream and soooo much more!
Jersey Royal Potatoes – Free Food
Only available for four months of the year, Jersey Royals are one of the few remaining seasonal vegetables left in the UK.
I’m so glad Jersey Royals are back in season, they are my absolute favourite new potato.
They’re on offer in pretty much all of the supermarkets at the moment, ranging in price from £1-3 a bag.
The best thing about Jersey Royals? They’re a free food! They’re fab to accompany pretty much anything, especially our Syn Free Potato Salad…
As for prices, they vary from £1-£3 a pack!
Tesco Frozen Blueberries – Free Food
I love keeping some frozen fruit in the freezer, it really does come in handy sometimes!
You can do what ever you like with these blueberries! Personally, I like to use them in my baked oats!
Tesco also have 1kg bags of fruit salad too!
You could also defrost a bowl in the fridge overnight to have for breakfast. Saves keeping and prepping fruit, and it’ll keep for much longer than fresh fruit.
You could enjoy them in our Low Syn Blueberry, Bacon & Maple Pancakes – the perfect Slimming World weekend breakfast!
You can get them in Tesco now!
“Wonky” Avocados just 39p – 9 Syns per 100g
Avocados just got cheaper, thanks to Morrisons! It’s been announced today that Morrisons will be selling ugly avocados.
You’ll be able to pick them up for around a third of the cost of the more traditional looking ones. Demand for avocados, and a reduced harvest from major producers have meant that prices of the more perfect looking fruits have increased recently, so these deformed fruits will certainly save you a few pennies.
They’re being marketed as ‘wonky’ due to the differences in sizes and marks on the skin caused by the wind. The taste, texture and the colour of the flesh are exactly the same as the more normal, full price ones.
Yes, for the majority of Slimming World members avocados are off limits as you’d prefer to spend your Syns on something else. But for me, I like to splurge 14 Syns on an Avocado once a week.
Quaker Oats Free Limited Edition Missprint Jar
Quaker Oats, has teamed up with designer duo “MissPrint” to give you the chance to get hold of a free limited edition mason jar to use when making overnight oats!
Each of the 1kg Promotional Quaker Oats packs has a unique code, that you can enter online on the Quaker Oats website to receive your MissPrint jar.
The three month promotion started on May 1st, and there are 5 different jars! Quaker Oats are available in all major supermarkets.
You could make some of our favourite overnight oats recipes in them! Check out our Syn Free Tiramisu Overnight Oats…
Morrisons Salt & Pepper Prawn Kebabs – Syn Free
There’s more BBQ offerings from Morrisons this week, with these salt and pepper marinated prawns threaded on to skewers.
They come in packs of 4 and work out Syn Free when they are run through the Syns calculator.
Please remember this could change if and when SW give them an official Syn value.
Morrisons Indian Spiced Chicken Kebabs = 2 Syns per pack (0.5 Syns each)
These diced chicken breast skewers are glazed with Indian style spiced marinade.
They’re not on the app yet, but using the Syns calculator they work out at 0.5 Syns each.
They are £3 a pack from Morrisons, but you can pick them up on the 2 for £5 offer until the August 24th. Please remember this could change if and when SW give them an official Syn value.
They’re also very similar to the Indian Spiced kebabs you can get in Asda!
Asda Chilli Coriander and Lime Skinless Chicken Drumsticks – 1 Syn Per 100g
Talking of Asda and BBQ things – we have yet another summer addition!
These Chilli, Coriander & Lime Skinless Drumsticks join the rather extensive range of summer BBQ items, of which a pretty decent number are Slimming World friendly.
There’s also some kebabs below which you could pick up at the same time!
Florette Thai Sweet Chilli Slaw 0.5 Syns/Half Bag (105g)
This is a perfect combination of pink cabbage, carrot, Kohlrabi, red onion coriander and a sweet chilli dressing.
The Florette Thai Sweet Chilli Slaw is a great accompaniment for fish, burgers and wraps.
It comes in a 210g bag, which is enough for 2 portions and it’s been confirmed by SW as half a syn for a 105g portion, and you can pick a bag up from Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.
Florette Mint & Yogurt Slaw 0.5 Syns/Half Bag (113g)
This one comes in a slightly bigger bag than the Thai Sweet Chilli one.
This 225g mix of pink cabbage, red cabbage, beetroot, kohlrabi, red onion and a yogurt & mint dressing is great to go with burgers, wraps and even curries!
This one is also on the SW app/website at half a Syn for half the bag (113g). This is also available in Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.
You could use it to make our Syn Free Coleslaw if you fancied it!
Graze Protein Bites – Syns Vary
We don’t have a lot of info about these Graze Protein Bites at the moment, but if you like to spend your Syns on “cleaner eating” items, then these are for you!
The range is set to roll out from 14 May in three variants: Banana, Cocoa Vanilla and Honey & Seed.
The Cocoa Vanilla offers 17g of protein per 100g, while the others contain 15g.
All have no more than 145 calories per portion so will be from around 7 Syns a bag.
Coke Zero Vanilla – Syn Free
This caused quite a buzz when we first mentioned it in one of our shopping articles a few weeks ago.
Now it’s finally here!
You can pick it up from most of the major supermarkets now for as little at £1 a bottle.
Sol = 7.5 per 330ml
We all know that bottles of Sol have been around for quite a long time, but it’s now available in 330ml cans!
Sol is a blond, light and refreshing, golden coloured Pilsner-style lager, with a fresh, malty, fruity-lemony flavour and a soft, quenching dry finish with a 4.5% alcohol by volume content.
It’s already on the SW app/website at 7.5 Syns for 330ml.
Metcalfe’s Skinny Salted Caramel Popcorn – 5.5 Syns per 25g
Metcalfe’s Skinny have brought out a new popcorn flavour!
Metcalfe’s Skinny Salted Caramel Popcorn has 30% less saturated fat than other Salted Caramel Popcorns.
It’s suitable for vegetarians, high in fibre, and with 114 calories in a 25g serving it works out at 5.5 Syns for 25g.
You can buy Metcalfe’s Skinny Salted Caramel Popcorn from Amazon, Ocado, Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda.
Iceland Solo Smoothies – 2.5 Syns Each
These Iceland Solo Smoothies aren’t new as such, but they’re out again for the Summer.
They come in a 10 pack, 5 mango and 5 raspberry flavour.
At 2.5 Syns per lolly these are a great guilt-free treat now the warmer weather is (hopefully) on the way.
Muller Light Greek Style Honey – Syn Free
There is yet another new Muller Light flavour on the block!
If you remember a while back the “Greek Style” Muller Lights used to have Syns in them, but not any more!
These Muller Light Greek Style Honey are exclusively available in Iceland for £1.75 per pack or you get one a pack free when you buy 2 Slimming World products.
Merangz Meringue Drops – 1 Syn Each
Meringue Drops are hand crafted, rainbow finished meringues are the creation of sweet treat experts Flower & White. Let me tell you now… these are AMAZING!
They actually taste of the flavours indicated on the packs AND are chewy in the middle. I can’t describe to you how nice these are.
They’re made in Shropshire, using British free range eggs and all natural flavours to create these light and airy melt in the mouth meringues.
All flavours are either fat free or low fat, gluten free, and they are all suitable for vegetarians.
The Rainbow Fruit and Chocolate varieties are also dairy free! They’re available in 3 varieties; Chocolate, White Chocolate & Raspberry and Rainbow Fruits (which contains a mixture of Strawberry, lemon, passion fruit and black cherry).
Each box weighs 100g, which means you get approximately 25 meringues weighing 4 to 4.5 g each.
Each meringue is around 15 calories, which means they work out at 1 Syn each using the Snackulator on the SW website.
At the moment these are only available on the Flower & White website and QVC, but they will be more widely available in June.
Wheyhey Chocolate Ice Cream = 5 Syns per 100ml tub
If you’re anything like us you’ll find measuring out your ice cream a little tricky as the nutritional values are given in ml but we tend to portion it up by scoops or spoonfuls (or tub-fulls haha!)!
Wheyhey Chocolate Ice Cream has actually been around for a while now, but they have just released it in a new 100ml tub multipacks, which makes it a lot easier for portion control.
It’s on the SW app/website at & 7.5 Syns per 150ml, so using that info these pots work out at 5 Syns for the whole 100ml tub.
You can get Wheyhey Chocolate Ice Cream from Tesco at £4 for 4 x 100ml tubs.
New Mars Choc Brownie Bars – Treatsize – Coming Soon!
There’s a new Mars bar on the horizon! The new Mars Choc Brownie bar will be out from the 22nd May.
We don’t know how many calories will be in it yet, but we do know that it will be available in treat size! We’ll have more info on this very soon!
