Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 304,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!), one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.

M&S Rainbow Carrots
We’re always looking for ways to jazz up our Speed foods to make everyday meals more interesting.
This week we’ve come up with M&S Rainbow carrots.
Baby carrots in a range of colours, guaranteed to brighten up your plate.
Carrots are one of our staple speed foods, they’re so versatile. You can serve them in a hearty casserole, such as our Syn Free Caribbean Jerk Stew
You can also use them as a side dish to your main meal, or even use them in soup.
These M&S Rainbow carrots cost £2.00 for 200g
M&S Seedless King Grapes
Grapes are one of my favourite fruits.
I remember when I started Slimming World being very sad that they aren’t a speed food, as I could happily munch my way through a punnet without a second thought!
A couple of week ago, we featured Cotton Candy Grapes in the Shopping Essentials round up, but now we have another option.
When we spotted these in the fruit section of M&S earlier this week, you would have forgiven us for thinking they were plums!
These M&S Seedless King Grapes are grown in Spain, and are hand selected for their superior size and flavour.
They really do have to be seen to be believed! Sweet and juicy, just a few of these grapes would keep you going until it’s time for dinner.
These are available from M&S priced at £3.00 for a 400g punnet. They’re also part of the mix and match deal in M&S, where you can choose 2 packs of selected fruit for £4.00, or 3 for £6.00
We have been exploring the M&S food hall this week and we were delighted to find these Bursa Figs.
Black Bursa Figs are grown in Turkey and are considered to be some of the best Figs for flavour and sweetness.
They’re not a speed food, but they are free and delicious!
To prepare these fruits, all you need to do is wash them, then top and tail and cut or just rip them into pieces.
They’re absolutely delicious served with Bresaola, an air-dried, salted beef, or fresh mozzarella (50g for HEB) and a drizzle of honey. (My mouth is watering as I type!)
Figs are on offer in pretty much every supermarket at the moment!
These wonderful Bursa Figs are available from M&S priced at £5.00 for 8 fruits.
M&S Rockit Apples
You’ll probably have noticed that we try to feature a new speed fruit or vegetable choice each week in the Shopping Essentials round up.
This week, we’ve found these!
M&S Rockit Apples. Deliciously sweet and crisp, miniature apples from New Zealand. They have an attractive red blush colour and are a naturally small variety.
Apples are an ideal Slimming World snack, great for an anytime nibble, and easy to pick up when you’re out and about, too. Best of all, they’re Speed food!
These Rockit apples come washed and packed in a recyclable tube, which protects them from bumps and bruises.
These are now available from M&S at £3.00 a pack.
Another new sighting from the M&S food hall this week – P’Apples! (No, I hadn’t heard of them, either!).
Despite the name, which makes them sound like an apple, these are actually pears!
So the name is a hybrid of the two fruits, combining pear and apple to give us… the P’Apple!
Described as a unique pear, which is distinctly crisp and juicy, these have a more apple-like texture. They would be perfect in our Low Syn Pear and Apple Baked Oats.
Pears are also a delicious speed food, so ideal to snack on anytime.
These unusual fruits cost £1.50 for a pack of two from M&S.
M&S Frozen Cranberries
We’ve already mentioned that Christmas is gradually creeping up on us, bringing all the festive food that comes with it.
Roast Turkey usually has a range of accompaniments, one of which is Cranberry sauce.
Cranberries are speed food, but they can be very sharp to eat as they are.
These frozen cranberries would be really handy to keep in the freezer so that you can rustle up a quick cranberry sauce to serve at the Christmas table.
You’ll find these in the freezer section at M&S, priced at £3.00 per pack.
M&S Butternut, Sweet Potato & Kohlrabi Crinkle Cut Chips
Do you remember when squaffles were first launched? Lattice cut slices of butternut squash, which offered a speedy alternative to a potato-based side dish.
Since then, other supermarkets have jumped on board, bringing us various vegetable cuts, from vegetable noodles and boodles, to vegetable chips.
Now M&S have these – M&S Butternut, Sweet Potato & Kohlrabi Crinkle Cut Chips.
This is a combination of speed and free vegetable chips. Butternut squash and Kohlrabi are both speed, and sweet potato is free.
These would make a great addition to any meal. Why not try making our Salt and Pepper chips with them?
These are available from M&S for £2.00 per pack.
M&S Mediterranean Butterflied Sea Bass
We have a saying here at Pinch of Nom; ‘If it swims, it slims!’
When we include fish recipes in our weekly meal plan, we usually get a good loss. Fish is a great source of protein and it’s a free food, too.
This M&S Mediterranean Butterflied Sea Bass is perfect for a Slimming World friendly dinner.
Ready to cook, you can either cook it straight from the pack, or add other ingredients to the prepared sea bass to create a mouth-watering meal.
For a real change, how about our Syn Free Curried Sea Bass?
The M&S Mediterranean Butterflied Sea Bass is responsibly sourced and has a delicious flavour.
Currently available in M&S priced at £7.99 for two portions.
Tesco White Pitta Sticks
This week in Tesco, we’ve found just the thing – Tesco White Pitta Sticks.
Tesco White Pitta Sticks can be heated in the oven or under the grill in just a couple of minutes, giving you that delicious crispy bread which is light and fluffy inside.
These are a great way to satisfy your craving for the taste of bread, without using your Healthy Extra B choice.
Each Pitta stick is just 2 Syns. That’s a real saving!
These White Pitta Sticks come in a pack of 12 and they cost just 60p.
M&S Chocolate Teacakes – Chocolate Orange and Salted Caramel.
I do love a chocolate teacake. Such a delicious, indulgent treat.
That smooth chocolatey dome that cracks to reveal gooey marshmallow topping a round of yummy biscuit. Ooooh! Yes, please!
Marks and Spencer have brought out two delicious new varieties of teacake, chocolate orange and salted caramel flavours.
Orange flavoured mallow, which sounds amazing, on a cocoa biscuit base.
The Chocolate Orange teacakes are wrapped in orange foil, so they would look perfect on a Halloween party table.
In fact, if you’re planning a Halloween party, why not check out our Halloween treats!
The Salted Caramel Teacakes have a salted caramel flavoured mallow on a biscuit base, covered in milk chocolate.
These flavours aren’t on the app yet, but there are other flavours on the app which are 4 Syns each.
Available from M & S, priced at £1.50 for a pack of 16 teacakes.
M&S Belgian Chocolate Fruit & Nut Cookie Bites
Marks and Spencer have always been experts at luxury treats, especially biscuits and cookies.
Often, the full sized goodies will break the Syn bank in one hit …Ouch!
Fortunately, M & S also have a bite-sized range, which won’t do quite so much damage!
New on the M & S shelves this week, we’ve found Belgian Chocolate Fruit & Nut Cookie Bites.
As the name suggests, these are bite-sized fruit and nut cookies, half dipped in milk chocolate.
They’re on the Slimming World app at 2.5 Syns per biscuit.
M&S Belgian Chocolate Chocolate and Orange Cookie Bites
Sitting alongside the Fruit and Nut Cookie Bites, we also found these Chocolate and Orange Cookie Bites.
Delicious mini cookies, with orange and chocolate chips, half-coated in Belgian milk chocolate.
Priced at £2.00 for a tub of 25 cookie bites, these are listed on Syns Online at 2.5 Syns each.
Of course, if you wanted to save even more Syns, you could make some of our Low Syn Chocolate And Orange Biscuits 😉
M&S Cherry & Almond Shortbread Crunch Thins
We’re rushing headlong through Autumn, the clocks will be going back very soon and we’ll be freewheeling all the way to Christmas…Eeeek!
Most of us have already had our SW group Christmas Taster sessions this week
Thoughts and discussions are turning towards the foods we can all enjoy whilst staying on plan.
M&S have another sweet treat in store for us, with their Cherry and Almond Shortbread Crunch Thins.
All butter Scottish shortbread thins with pieces of dried cherry, rolled in demerara sugar.
These aren’t on the app yet, but work out at 3.5 Syns each using the 20 cals to 1 Syn rule.
These cost £2.20 for 9 shortbread thins.
Go Ahead Pretzel Bites – Milk Chocolate or Plain Chocolate
The first time I was offered a chocolate-covered pretzel to try, I hesitated.
I really did!!
I had noticed several chocolate products flavoured with salt, but I wasn’t too sure whether the combination of a crispy salted pretzel would work with chocolate.
Well, let me tell you, it does!
This week, I discovered that Go Ahead have created a chocolate pretzel snack that’s just perfect for anyone on SW.
Crunchy pretzels, covered in smooth milk or plain chocolate. The combination of sweet and savoury just works…brilliantly!
I’ll give you one word of advice… don’t leave them lying around. I left a box of each flavour in the kitchen on Monday evening and my lovely family have eaten the lot in 36 hours!
These Go Ahead Pretzel Bites are also suitable for vegetarians.
Sold in a box of 5 x 20g bags, the milk chocolate work out at 4.5 Syns a bag and the dark 5 Syns a bag using the Syns calculator.
These are currently available from Waitrose at £2.29 and Asda for just £1.00 per box. They will probably be rolled out to other major supermarkets soon.
Mcvitie’s Hobnob Eerie Eyeball Teacakes
We have already shown you the M&S Chocolate Orange and Salted Caramel teacakes in this week’s Shopping Essentials list.
Here’s another spooky offering, this time from Tesco.
Mallow, on an oat and wholemeal base, covered in milk chocolate.
The foil wrappings have an eyeball on them to make them super spooky!
The Mcvitie’s Hobnob Eerie Eyeball Teacakes work out at 4 Syns each on the Syns calculator.
They come in a pack of 8 teacakes and cost just £1.00
Jaffa Freaky Orange Cake Bars
We’ve had a spooktacular time finding Halloween treats this week!
McVities have come up with a gloriously ghoulish blend of Dark Crackly Chocolate, Purple Sponge and Smashing Jaffa Orangey Centre.
The Jaffa Freaky Orange Cake Bars work out at 5 Syns each on the Syns Calculator.
They’re currently on sale in Tesco and cost £1.00 for a pack of 5 Cake Bars.
Mr Kipling Chocolate And Slime Slice
While we’re on the Halloween theme, Mr Kipling have added their contribution to the party table.
I first remember tasting this flavour combination when I was young. My Grandad used to keep chocolate limes in the glovebox of his car.
A lime flavoured boiled sweet with a chocolate centre.
These Mr Kipling Chocolate and Lime slices have a lime flavoured sponge with a decorated chocolate flavour topping.
They come in a box of 6 and cost £1.00 per pack in Tesco. Each slice is 6 Syns on the Syns Calculator.
Hobnob Toffee Apple Flapjack
Flapjacks are one of those treats that seem to be off the menu once you start Slimming World.
A blend of oats, butter, syrup, sugar and other calorific ingredients means that they’re often difficult to recreate successfully whilst keeping the Syns low.
McVitie’s have created new Toffee Apple Flapjacks.
Toffee Flavour Flapjacks with Rolled Oats, Crushed Hobnobs and Apple Flavoured Fruit Pieces.
These work out at 6 Syns each on the Syns Calculator.
Available from Tesco, priced at £1.00 for a pack of 5 Toffee Apple Flapjacks.
