Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 337,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.
This post contains affiliate links. Find out what this means.
This week, alongside some new choices for you, we’ll be reminding you about some of the Christmas goodies we’ve brought you in recent Shopping Essentials lists.
First of all, we need your help!
We’ve been NOM-inated (geddit?! 😂) and we’d love you to vote for us to win at the UK Blog Awards 2018 here
(vote for the dual category please, Food & Drink + Health and Social Care.)
We’re nominated in both categories, so your vote will count twice!
Last year we came second 😭😭😭 but we need YOUR HELP to get further!!
Thank you so much for your support.
Morrisons Sprout Stalk
In our Shopping Essentials list every week, you will know that we always like to bring you some Speed Food choices.
Buying sprouts on the stalk keeps them fresher for longer, so they’ll still be crisp and delicious. There’s something quite fun about picking the sprouts from the stalk, too.
When you pick the sprouts straight from the stalk they do not require any further preparation, just a quick rinse under the tap!
This Sprout Stalk is from Morrisons and costs £1.50
Morrisons Hot Rocket Salad
Our second offering of Speed food for this week is this Morrisons Hot Rocket Salad. At this time of year, salad can seem pretty unappealing, but this combination of rocket leaves is really tempting!
This pack contains a mix of Wild Rocket, soft green leaves with a distinctive peppery flavour, and Wasabi Rocket, crisp and delicate green wasabi rocket leaf with a spicy and peppery horseradish type flavour.
My mouth is watering already at the thought of a salad made with this combination.
Morrisons Hot Rocket Salad costs £1.00 for a 70g bag.
ASDA Extra Special Unwaxed Lemons
Christmas is only 10 days away now! It’s hard to believe, but there’s no getting away from it. Hopefully, you’ll have worked out a plan to keep you on track over the Christmas holiday.
Don’t forget to have a look on the Pinch of Nom website for lots of recipe ideas to keep your plates full but your Syn values low.
One of the questions we’re often asked is about which alcoholic drinks are best on the SW plan. If you want to prepare and make good choices, check out our lists of Syn Values in your favourite drinks.
For me, it has to be gin and tonic! (When I’m not designated driver, that is!) Low calorie mixers are free, and spirits are relatively low in Syns, so you get more for your money, so to speak.
My perfect G&T includes a wedge of sliced lemon, so these Extra Special Unwaxed Lemons will be on my shopping list. You can use them for lots of the recipes on the website, too. Our recipe for Syn Free Lemon and Garlic Chicken Tray Bake is an absolute winner!
These Extra Special Unwaxed Lemons are from Asda and cost £1.25 for a pack of 4.
Tesco Butternut Squash, Red Onion And Kale Bake
If you have a non-meat eater amongst your guests over the Christmas break, you may be interested in this! In fact, this sounds pretty delicious anyway!
This Butternut Squash, Red Onion and Kale Bake would be a great alternative meal when you fancy a break from the leftover turkey and trimmings.
It’s full of seasoned butternut squash, red onion and kale, with pumpkin seeds and a honey glaze sachet. There’s a pumpkin seed topping too.
Whilst many of these veg bakes are really high in Syns, this one works out at 2 Syns for the pack, using the Syns Calculator.
ASDA Vegetable & Bean Casserole
I was browsing the aisles in Asda this week when I spotted this Vegetable and Bean Casserole Mix and brought some home to try. It was only when I was thinking about what to make with it that I realised how versatile this would be.
You can use a base mix like this to make soups, casseroles and stews just by adding a couple of extra ingredients. A tin of tomatoes and some cajun seasoning would make a hearty, warming soup, similar to our Syn Free Cajun Red Bean, Chick Pea and Tomato Soup.
Adding some diced, lean beef, a beef stock pot, extra chilli and garlic would make a fab chunky chilli. Ideal for these wintery evenings.
A 1 kg bag costs £1.75 in Asda.
Waitrose Celeriac Rice
Cauliflower rice has been around for quite a while now, joined subsequently by Broccoli rice, which is nicer, in my opinion!
Now I need to tell you about my new discovery that I found in Waitrose this week.
This is soooo tasty! It has a great texture and retains a bit of crunch after cooking, so it really livens up a meal. Best of all, it’s speed food, too! Ideal for replacing rice or pasta, particularly if you’re following an SP day. This would also make a great risotto.
This Celeriac Rice is suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans.
It’s available in Asda and costs £1.75 for 300g pack.
Aldi Reindeer Ice Cream Lollies
T’is the season, as they say, so we thought we’d bring you some Christmas treats. One of our Facebook group members, Lisa, posted these yummy ice creams this week, and they’re certainly worth sharing here!
I popped down to my local Aldi this afternoon and found these Reindeer Ice Creams in their freezer, then brought them home to my freezer!
These little treats work out at 3.5 Syns each on the Syns Calculator and cost just 99p for a box of 4 ice creams.
Aldi Snowman Ice Cream Lollies
Sitting alongside the Reindeer in the Freezer section of Aldi this afternoon, I spotted these Snowman Ice Cream Lollies too. (Of course I bought them! It wouldn’t have been fair to leave them behind!)
These Snowman Ice Cream Lollies make a perfect sweet treat and won’t send your Syns total sky high for the day.
Just like the Reindeer Ice Cream Lollies, these are coming out at 3.5 Syns on the Syns Calculator.
Waitrose Christmas Mini Sponge Cup Cakes
Whilst I was looking around in Waitrose, these little cupcakes ‘accidentally’ fell into my trolley. Of course, my children were delighted!
These Christmas Mini Sponge Cupcakes are made from delicious golden sponge, topped with fondant icing and hand decorated with festive sugar decorations.
I automatically thought that they’d be super high in Syns, but once I’d managed to wrestle the box from my girls, I was really happy to discover that they’re just 4 Syns each when using the Snackulator on the Slimming World Website. Happy Days!!
You’ll find them in Waitrose. A box of 9 cupcakes costs £3.00
Aldi Raw Jumbo King Prawns
While trawling the freezers for bargains, we spotted these Aldi Raw Jumbo King Prawns.
These prawns would be great in a stir fry, to make a really quick evening meal. Add a stir fry veg pack and prepare some dried noodles. You could even knock up our Syn Free Sweet Chilli Sauce.
These delicious Raw Jumbo King Prawns are available from Aldi, priced at £2.49
Mr Kipling Exceedingly Merry Frosty Fancies
Mr Kipling French Fancies have been around for as long as I can remember. Little cubes of light sponge, with a blob of vanilla buttercream, covered in a soft fondant icing.
Once again this year, the French Fancy has been given it’s Christmas makeover and is now a Frosty Fancy!
These are on the Slimming World Syns Online app and are 5 Syns each.
A box of 8 Frosty Fancies is available from Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Tesco for £1.00
Mr Kipling Gingerbread Whirls
Another teatime favourite from Mr Kipling is the Viennese Whirl. We have a spicier, more wintry version right here with the Gingerbread Whirl.
The same delicious shortcake, but this time with the delightfully warming flavour of ginger.
If ginger is your thing, and you fancy saving a few Syns, why not try our 1.5 Syn Gingerbread Bites?
Mr Kipling Gingerbread Whirls are ginger flavoured shortcake whirls filled with buttercream. A tempting treat with a cuppa that will only set you back 6.5 Syns.
You can pick up a pack of 6 Gingerbread Whirls from Asda or Morrisons at £1.00 per box.
M&S Mini Mince Pie Selection
In a recent Shopping Essentials we brought you a tempting selection of Christmas Treats from M&S.
Just for you, we’ve found an extra treat with these M&S Mini Mince Pies.
These really are special, with 4 mini mince pies each of these toppings… Viennese, Frosted Crumble and Brandy Buttercream. Nom Nom Nom!
These work out at 4.5 Syns each using the Syns Calculator. Available from M&S.
Iceland 12 Ice Cream Chocolate Shots
Here are some delicious ice cream treats that are definitely not for children! These Iceland Ice Cream Chocolate Shots contain alcoholic liqueurs.
There are 3 flavours available;
Orange Liqueur Flavoured Chocolates:
Chocolate dairy ice cream with an orange liqueur flavoured white chocolate filling covered in milk chocolate with white chocolate stripes.
Irish Cream Flavour Chocolates:

Cadbury All I Want For Christmas Cake Selection
At this time of year, the shops are full of products that scream Christmas at us. Along with the Christmas tunes being played over the tannoy, it’s enough to tip anyone off the wagon!
With careful planning, we can enjoy some of these Christmas treats, just as long as we remember to count the Syns up along the way!
How about rustling up some of our Low Syn Christmas Cakes if you fancy a Christmassy treat with your cuppa after a shopping trip.
We’ve found these Cadbury Christmas cakes in Tesco. Ideal for when friends pop in over the festive season to drop off a card or have a catch up over a cuppa.

Everything written here about the products is my own opinion. Syn values given are correct at time of writing but may not always be accurate.
Ideally, you should check with Slimming world for the most up to date Syn values using official resources such as; the Syns calculator, Syns Online on LifelineOnline or by calling the Syns Hotline on (0906) 851 8518.
