Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 622,000 members it keeps going up each week!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly, for our Slimming World Shopping Essentials list!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), but you can join up using the link below for the latest news and discussions on brand new Slimming World-friendly products.

Every week we search the supermarkets and food websites to find a selection of new products and special offers to help you stay on plan with Slimming World.
Slimming World recommend having 1/3 Speed Food with every meal where appropriate as part of the Extra Easy plan. If you’re not sure whether your fruit and vegetable choices are Speed Foods, you can check our Speed Foods list.
Fruit and vegetables are great for snacking on throughout the day if you’re feeling peckish. You can munch away safe in the knowledge that it’s healthy, Syn free food!
I usually have fruit for breakfast to kick-start my day, with dishes like this Syn Free Melon & Berry Bowl.
This Rainbow Fruit Salad from Tesco is a colourful mix of pineapple, kiwi fruit, melon, watermelon and blueberries.
Ideal for those times when you want a quick, convenient snack on the go, it even comes with a handy fork to stop you from getting sticky fingers!
Morrisons Market St Fruit Kebabs
When my children were younger, we often made fruit kebabs to tempt (trick!) them into eating more fruit. When I spotted these in Morrisons I thought how attractive they looked.
If you’ve ventured into the world of making your own savoury kebabs, such as our fabulous Syn Free Chicken Kebab, you’ll probably have a pack of wooden skewers lurking in the back of the cutlery draw, so you could try making your own!
These fruit kebabs have pineapple, strawberries, mango, kiwi fruit and grapes on a wooden skewer. You could even melt a Freddo or drizzle a drop of Choc Shot over them for a treat. (Don’t forget to include the Syns!)
Morrisons Market St Fruit Kebabs cost £2.50 for a pack of 4 kebabs.
ASDA Extra Special Sweet Aromatico Tomatoes
You just cannot beat the smell of freshly grown tomatoes. If you’re lucky enough to have a greenhouse where you can grow your own you’ll know exactly what I mean!
Asda Extra Special Sweet Aromatico Tomatoes are on-the-vine cherry tomatoes with a fabulous flavour and smell. You can use them to make our Syn Free Vegetable Tarts. Nom!
Great in a lunchtime salad, or you could roast these tomatoes in the oven. Roasted vine tomatoes taste pretty amazing, and they make a really simple accompaniment to a meal.
Asda Extra Special Sweet Aromatico Tomatoes are priced at £2.00 for a 420g pack.
Morrisons Market St Mixed Kale
There’s a mind-boggling range of bagged salad leaves available in the supermarket these days; so many to choose from. I have to try and avoid the prepared salads that have coriander in them, as my children hate the stuff with a passion!
Morrisons Market St Mixed Kale Salad bags contain a mix of baby red kale, baby green kale and curly kale, with a delicate and mild flavour.
This would make an easy side salad to serve with our delicious new Low Syn Jerk Chicken recipe.
Perfect for filling your plate with the recommended 1/3 speed food, or you could supplement with other ingredients for a more substantial salad.
Morrisons Market St Mixed Kale comes in an 80g bag and costs £1.18.
Morrisons Yogurt Coleslaw
When the weather is warm and you don’t want to be stuck in a hot kitchen all day, a salad is a great way to stay on plan. We have a fab selection of salads over on the Pinch of Nom website, take a look here.
One of my favourites is our Syn Free Orzo Primavera Pasta Salad. It’s lovely as a side dish, but substantial enough to be a meal on its own. I often add some cooked chicken slices or even smoked salmon for a treat!
Coleslaw is a classic salad dish, and we have our own amazing recipe for Syn Free Coleslaw too.
This yogurt coleslaw from Morrisons is made from white and pink cabbage with carrots in a mayonnaise and yogurt dressing. It has 45% less fat than Morrisons standard classic coleslaw.
It works out at 3.5 Syns per 1/4 pot using the Syns calculator and costs £1.50 for 300g.
Tesco Seafood, Chicken And Chorizo Paella
One of the things you’ll have noticed on Slimming World is that you’re encouraged to cook delicious meals from scratch, using fresh ingredients, and of course the brilliant recipes from Pinch of Nom!
One of those recipes, our 2 Syn Paella, is a tasty way to create a really impressive looking meal!
If time really is too tight to make your own, why not try this frozen Seafood, Chicken and Chorizo Paella from Tesco?
With ingredients including chicken, prawn, squid and chorizo and tumeric coloured long grain rice, it’s a quick option, but the Syn value is obviously higher.
Asda Butcher’s Selection Reduced Fat Beef Burgers
If you’re a regular reader of the Slimming World Shopping Essentials feature each week, you’ll know that over the last few weeks we’ve brought you lots of barbecue ideas. This week we’ve spotted some Asda Butcher’s Selection reduced fat beef burgers.
Asda Butcher’s Selection reduced fat beef burgers are on the Slimming World Syns Online database for 2.5 Syns each. A pack of 4 burgers is priced at £2.70, and there’s an offer for you to buy 2 packs for £5.00.
Waitrose Hot Smoked Sweet Chilli Salmon Fillets
We have a mantra when it comes to eating fish on Slimming World, ‘If it swims, it slims!’ We often find that if we’ve included a couple of fish dishes in our weekly meal plans we get a good loss at the scales.
Waitrose Hot Smoked Sweet Chilli Salmon Fillets are ready to eat and can be enjoyed as they are or you can add other ingredients, such as rice or couscous and vegetables, to make a filling and tasty meal.
A pack of two hot smoked sweet chilli salmon fillets costs £5.00 from Waitrose and they’re on Syns Online for 1 Syn each.
Asda Wholemeal Folded Flatbreads
The subject of bread comes up all the time in our Facebook group. Often we have questions about which foods can be used as a Healthy Extra B choice. We put together an article recently for wraps and pittas as an HEB. You can read it here.
You could serve these flatbreads with our Syn Free Halloumi Cous Cous burgers for a satisfying and tasty meal option.
Asda Wholemeal Folded Flatbreads are not classed as a Healthy Extra B choice by Slimming World, so you’ll need to count the Syns accordingly.
A pack of 6 Asda wholemeal flatbreads costs £1.00. They’re not on the app yet, so we’ve used the Syns Calculator and worked them out at 5.5 Syns each.
New York Bakery Co Soft Seeded Bagel Thins – HEB
Slimming World are constantly evaluating food products that are on the market for their nutritional content, so that they can add new products to the Syns Online database.
This sometimes leads to changes for the Healthy Extras list too. If you’re a Slimming World member you can check on these changes on Lifeline Online, the member’s section of the SW website.
The Healthy Extra Updates have a couple of interesting changes, which we thought were worth pointing out, including these New York Bakery Co Seeded Bagel Thins, which you can now have as an HEB choice. (1 x 45g Bagel for HEB or 6 Syns)
They’re available in Asda and cost £1.00 for a pack of 4.
Co-op Wholemeal Pitta Bread – HEB
We noticed several things on the Healthy Extras update that we thought were useful, so we’ve included them in this week’s round up, too.
Back in February we brought news that Duchy Organic Brown Pitta Bread from Waitrose had been added as an HEB choice. The most recent update on Healthy Extras now says that they are no longer on the list.
The good news is that Co-op Wholemeal Pitta bread is now on the Healthy Extras list. They should be easier to find and they’re much cheaper, so it’s a win/win situation!
A pack of 6 Co-op Wholemeal Pitta Breads costs just 69p. (1 x 60g Pitta for HEB or 6 Syns)
Asda Raisin Wheaties
Finally on the Healthy Extra updates for this week, we spotted another recent change. Asda Raisin Wheaties are now 45g for HEB.
Although it’s only the Asda brand that has been listed on the update, the same cereals from Kelloggs, Tesco and Sainsbury’s are also 45g for HEB.
Asda Raisin Wheaties breakfast cereal costs £1.69 for a 500g box.
Sainsbury’s Red Berry Sorbet & Panna Cotta Ice Cream
When you’ve enjoyed a Slimming World meal that is perfectly on plan, you might just fancy a dessert to round things off. If you’ve managed to save a few Syns throughout the day, it’s lovely to indulge a little!
As you’ll probably know, we’ve been championing low Syn ice creams for quite a while now! If you fancy a spoonful of ice cream or sorbet with your pud, have a look at this new frozen delight from Sainsbury’s.
Panna cotta ice cream and red berry sorbet, rippled with raspberry sauce and sprinkled with white chocolate mini curls. Sounds delish!!
We’ve used the Syns Calculator on the Slimming World website to find the Syn value for this as it’s not on the database yet. It works out at 4 Syns for a 56g serving.
It’s available in a 900g tub from Sainsbury’s, priced at £2.00.
Bonne Maman Petites Tartlets
I spotted these in my local supermarket last week and initially ignored them, thinking they’d be too high in Syns. Then curiosity got the better of me, so I thought I’d check them out.
To my surprise, they’re actually not too bad at all, Syns-wise! Considering the fact that the tartlets are made with a butter pastry and have a fairly calorific filling, the Chocolate Caramel tartlets are on the app at 3.5 Syns each.
As the raspberry flavour isn’t on the app, I used the Syns calculator and they worked out at 3 Syns each. Result! A box of 9 individually wrapped tartlets costs £1.50 in Asda.
PG Tips Dairy Free Tea Bags
When you’re in the mood for a brew, you can’t beat a good cuppa. Personally, I’m an established coffee drinker for most of the day, but I’ll have a cup of tea if I’m in the mood.
In fact, I’ve got quite addicted to the Yorkshire Tea Biscuit Brew that we featured recently as a Shopping Essentials Top Pick!
With many people choosing dairy-free alternatives to milk for their Healthy Extra A choice, it had never occurred to me that they might make your cup of tea taste so different, or even unpleasant.
PG Tips have launched these Dairy Free tea bags, designed to complement dairy-free choices and make your well-deserved cup of tea even more enjoyable.
They are available from Morrisons, priced at £2.00 for a box of 70 tea bags.
Asda Cider Flavour Ice Lollies
One of our Facebook group members, Charlotte, posted these earlier in the week and several people commented that they hadn’t had a cider lolly in years. I was transported back to my childhood, queueing at Mr Nick’s ice cream van to buy one!
Sadly, they’re not actually alcoholic lollies, as they’re made with apple juice, but they’re really refreshing and at only 3 Syns each, a perfect treat for a hot summer’s day in the garden!
Asda’s Cider lollies are on the database at 3 Syns each, and a box of 6 lollies costs £1.00.
Shopping Essentials Top Pick
Our Shopping Essentials Top Pick is a featured highlight of the week. This week, we’ve chosen these Fibre One Popcorn Bars.
You can find out more about them here, in our Shopping Essentials Top Pick article.
