Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 278,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!), one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.

Morrisons Wonky Cauliflower
Continuing the ‘Wonky’ fruit and veg theme from Morrisons, we now have ‘Wonky’ Cauliflower for £0.72 each.
As with all their Wonky veg, they’re not the prettiest, but they are beautiful on the inside, and they are a Speed Food.
These would be great to use in our Syn Free Cauliflower Cheese.
There’s also a wonky cabbage on offer too. Nothing like cabbage with a hot stew, especially now that the cold weather is here.
Tesco Seasonal Plum, Fig and Blackberries
If you’re dashing into Tesco for a quick lunch or healthy, Slimming World friendly snack, you can’t beat a fruit bowl.
Most of the fruit bowls contain a combination of speed and free fruits and there are lots of options.
Tesco sometimes offer a seasonal selection of fruit, combined to create a delicious combination of flavours.
For autumn, they have a new selection – Plum, Fig and Blackberries. Even the colours are reminiscent of the season!
I tried this one last week, and it’s a really tasty change to the usual melon/strawberries/grapes combination.
Currently available in Tesco at £2.00 for a 230g pot.
Iceland 4 Multi Greens Rice Steam Bags
Speed food is key when you’re following the Slimming World plan. My consultant, along with many others, have a mantra… ‘The more speed you choose, the more weight you’ll lose!’
With this in mind, I try to fill my plate with at least one third Speed Food whenever possible.
I was delighted to discover these bags of vegetable rice this week in Iceland.
A quick-frozen mix of diced green vegetables and seaweed. Here are just four ingredients – Broccoli (50%), Curly Kale, Spinach, Courgette, Wakame Seaweed (2%).
This appeals to me so much! I love the convenience of just being to grab a portion of vegetable rice from the freezer.
This would be ideal to serve with dishes such as our Syn Free Balsamic Slow Cooker Beef Stew.
Suitable for vegetarians.
They’re not on the database yet, but are definitely free on the Syns calculator.
All the ingredients are speed vegetables, with no added ingredients, so were counting them as Speed Food.
As always, this may be different if and when they are added to the database
Available in a pack of 4 x 150g bags, they are on sale in Iceland for £2.00 a pack.
Iceland Cauliflower Rice Steam Bags
We also have another new addition to the Iceland frozen vegetable range.
Sitting right next to the 4 Multi Greens rice steam bags in the freezer are Cauliflower rice steam bags.
When I first saw these, I assumed they were a handy speed veg choice, BUT…
these contain olive oil, which means they’re not a free food.
Therefore, although cauliflower is a speed vegetable, these Cauli rice bags are NOT free!
When we put them through the Syns calculator, they come out at 1.5 Syns per bag, but this may be different if and when it is added to the database.
Available from Iceland, the Cauliflower Rice Steam Bags are sold in a pack containing 4 bags and costs £2.00.
Pom-Bear Original Potato Snacks
We regularly see the same question on our Facebook Group can someone suggest some low Syn crisps please?’
One of the recommendations is often these – Pom-Bear crisps.
They are a well-known favourite, on the database at 4 Syns for a 15g bag.
They’re a deliciously light and crispy, ready salted and bear-shaped potato snack!
Although these are not new, Tesco are now stocking a new pack size, large multipacks of 18 bags for £3.00.
Yushoi Snapea Sticks Variety
We’re always happy to see a new savoury snack, and this is no exception.
Baked pea and rice snacks, lightly seasoned, crispy and full of flavour.
They’re Gluten Free and contain no artificial colours or flavours. They’re also suitable for vegans and Vegetarian Society approved.
Available in a multipack, they come in three tempting varieties;
2 packs of Lightly Salted
2 packs of Soy & Balsamic Vinegar
2 packs of Sweet Chilli & Lemon
All work out at 4.5 Syns a bag on the Syns calculator, and you can get them from Tesco, Ocado and Sainsbury’s for between £1.00 to £1.50 depending on who has the best offer.
Hippeas – Salt and Vinegar Vibes
We first featured Hippeas back in May.
Hippeas are organic chick pea puffs, so they’re an alternative to traditional crisps. Up to now there have been 4 flavours available;
- Cheese & Love
- In Herbs We Trust
- Far Out Fajita
- Sweet & Smokin’ – Groovy!
We’ve previously likened them to a grown-up Wotsit! They’re now adding a new flavour, Salt & Vinegar Vibes.
They are organic, vegan, gluten-free, packed with protein and fibre and have 91 or less calories a pack.
They come in 22g bags and they work out at 4.5 Syns for a 22g bag.
These will be available soon from Asda, Ocado and some Waitrose stores, priced at 99p a bag.
Jacobs Mini Cheddar Crispy Thins
Recently, there has been a trend towards thinner biscuits.
Thinner biscuits = less Syns!
Jacobs Mini Cheddar Crispy Thins
Jacobs have now come to join the party, launching a thinner version of their classic Mini Cheddars.
Thin, crispy cheese snack biscuits with toasted cheddar cheese flavour.
Deliciously moreish, these are on the database for 6 syns a bag. They’re sold in multipacks of 7 bags and cost £1.79 in Tesco.
Jacobs Mini Cheddar Thins Cheddar And Chive
If you fancy a savoury thin with a bit more ‘bite’, Jacobs have also added another flavour to their Crispy Thins.
Thin, crispy cheese snack biscuits with cheddar cheese and chive flavour.
For those of us who thought a snack of cheese and biscuits would be a thing of the past when we joined Slimming World, these might just save the day!
Combining a pack of these crispy thins with your Healthy Extra cheese allowance would be a luxury night time treat.
These are on the Slimming World database at 6 Syns per bag and they’re available from Tesco in a multipack of 7 bags for £1.79
Many of us have had to wean ourselves off sugar since starting Slimming World.
This means finding an alternative to sweeten our morning coffee, or to add to a dessert recipe.
There is a huge range of sweeteners on the market, from tablets and liquids for hot drinks, to powdered and granulated sweeteners.
The new Canderel Zero is a portable and pocket-sized zero calorie liquid sweetener with no added sugar.
It dissolves instantly in both hot and cold drinks, dispensing a measured dose directly into your drink.
Canderel Zero is available from Tesco stores in a 48ml bottle with 100 servings, for £2.49 and it’s Syn free on the SW database.
McVities Digestive White Chocolate Nibbles
We all save our Syns for a treat sometimes! I mentioned in last week’s Shopping Essentials list that mine is a frozen Curly Wurly!
Here’s something new, a delicious, white chocolate treat.
McVities Digestive biscuit balls, covered in smooth white chocolate.
We featured the chocolate orange variety in our Shopping Essentials list recently.
There are a variety of other flavours to work your way through, including milk chocolate, dark chocolate, double chocolate and caramel.
All varieties of Digestive Nibbles are on the SW database at 6.5 Syns per 24g serving.
Available from Tesco, they cost £1.00 for a 120g bag.
Reese’s Snack Mix
If you’ve never heard of Reese’s, you’ve been missing out!
An amazing combination of milk chocolate and peanut butter. You can get Reese’s bars, Reese’s pieces, Peanut Butter Cups and even a chocolate and peanut butter spread.
Originally from America, Reese’s products have been available in UK shops for some time.
Reese’s have now launched their Snack Mix. A delicious combination of
Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups – Peanut Butter Creme in a Milk Chocolate Flavoured Coating.
- Reese’s Pieces – Peanut Butter Candy Centre in a Sugar Candy Shell
- Pretzels – Savoury Dried Bread Snacks
- Peanuts – Roasted and Salted
There are two pack sizes;
- A 56g bag, which is on the app at 14 syns for the whole bag
- 192g tub, which works out at 6.5 syns per 25g
Available from Tesco, the 56g bag costs £1.68 and the 192g tub is priced at £6.50
