Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 495,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.

It’s been another busy week over in our Facebook Group, with lots of new members joining us. If you’re one of them…Hello, and welcome!
The Slimming World plan recommends including 1/3 of a plate of Speed Food with every meal, where we can, so we always include some Speed foods in our Shopping Essentials round up, too!

Morrisons Wonky Berry Mix
I was happy to spot this great new mix of frozen wonky berries in the freezer cabinet at Morrisons yesterday.
When shops put together a combination of fruit or vegetables, they’re often not all speed!
Morrisons Wonky Berry selection is made up exclusively of Speed fruits, namely blackberries, strawberries, blackcurrants and raspberries.
A bag of frozen berries is perfect when you’re making overnight oats.
I love serving a handful of defrosted berries with our gorgeous Syn Free Strawberry and Vanilla Waffles recipe for a tasty start to the day.
Morrisons Wonky Berry Mix comes in a 1kg bag and costs £3.00
Morrisons Edamame Bean Stir Fry
There are times when you just want something really quick to have for your evening meal, but you don’t want to stray off plan and reach for the takeaway menu. A stir-fry is the perfect solution.
We have lots of great recipes on the website for stir-fries, like this delicious Syn Free Stir-fried Beef with Ginger and Spring Onions. Nom!!
If you’re really stretched for time, you could try a prepared stir-fry selection, like this Morrisons Edamame Bean Stir Fry.
It’s a mix of speed vegetables including carrot, broccoli, cabbage, Chinese leaf and onion with Edamame beans which are a free food.
Morrisons Edamame Bean Stir Fry is available from the prepared fruit and veg section, priced at £1.21 per pack.
Morrisons Riced Cauliflower
We often mention vegetable alternatives for people who are trying to reduce the amount of pasta and potatoes they consume.
There are lots of options if you’re on the hunt for something like this, in fact, we’ve written an article about them here.
Morrisons have added this Frozen Riced Cauliflower to their range. It can be cooked straight from the freezer, making it an easy option to help you increase your vegetable intake.
The sole ingredient is finely chopped cauliflower, which is a speed vegetable. It works out as free food when using the Syns calculator, too. It costs £1.30 for a 500g bag.
Morrisons Smoked Salmon Cuts
Smoked salmon is one of those foods that I’d eat daily if I could. It’s so rich and indulgent, but it’s free, and a Protein food too!
One of my favourite brunch options is to have some baby spinach leaves with our Syn Free Smoked Salmon, Potato Rösti and Poached Eggs.
This pack of Smoked Salmon Cuts from Morrisons is made up of smaller trimmings, rather than full slices, but they’re just as enjoyable and perfect for recipes like this.
After all, you have to cut it to eat it!
Morrisons Smoked Salmon Cuts are available in a 100g pack, priced at £2.42
Tesco Finest Unsmoked Dry Cure Thick Cut Bacon
One of the best things about being on Slimming World is that you can have a fabulous cooked breakfast and still be perfectly on plan.
This delicious Tesco Finest Unsmoked Dry Cure Thick Cut Bacon would be just right for a full English, done the SW way! What a great way to start the weekend.
As long as all visible fat is removed, bacon is free on Slimming World, so you can enjoy this completely guilt-free!
Tesco Smoked Haddock Loins
You probably know that one of our favourite Slimming World sayings is, ‘If it swims, it slims!’
We try to have a couple of meal using fish each week, as we find it helps us to have a good result on the scales. Fish is free food, and it’s also a great source of protein.
One of our favourite fish dishes is this Syn Free Fish Pie, which contains Smoked Haddock as one of the key ingredients.
You can pick up a 240g pack of skinless and boneless Smoked Haddock Loins from the chilled prepacked Fish aisle in Tesco, priced at £4.50.
Tesco BBQ King Prawns
I’m always looking for something a little bit different to liven up lunch.
When you’ve already used your Healthy B choice for breakfast, you need to find an alternative to a sandwich for your midday meal. We have lots of lunch ideas on the Pinch of Nom website – have a look here.
For something super quick, or even as a ‘grab and go’ choice when you need lunch in a hurry, why not try these Ready to Eat BBQ King Prawns.
Needing no preparation, if you paired them with a salad bowl, you’d have an instant and interesting meal, at just 1 Syn per half pack.
Tesco Diced Organic Lamb
Lamb is a versatile and tender meat that can be enjoyed in many ways. One of my favourite recipes is Syn Free Lamb Scouse.
A traditional and hearty stew, made with just a few good quality ingredients, which tastes absolutely delicious.
Tesco Organic Diced Lamb would be ideal in this dish. It’s Syn free as long as all visible fat is removed.
Cathedral City Lighter Mature Snack Bars – HEA
We love to bring you new and different Healthy Extra options when we find them, and this week is no exception.
I spotted these whilst doing my weekly ‘big’ shop in Tesco, and after a quick check with Syns Online, I discovered that these are a HEA choice!
These Lighter, Mature Cheddar snack bars come in neat, prepacked 30g portions, so no weighing or measuring required at all!
1 x 30g portion is your Healthy Extra for the day. If you’re already using your HEA choice for milk, these work out at just 5 Syns per 30g bar.
Cathedral City Lighter Mature Snack Bars come in a pack of 4 x 30g portions. The pack is currently on offer for £1.50 in Tesco, until 20/2/18. (Normal price £2.00 per pack.)

Danone Light and Free Skyr Yogurt
Danone Light and Free yogurts have been a popular choice since they arrived on the dairy scene. This week sees the addition of Danone Light and Free Skyr yogurt to the range.
This Icelandic-style, high protein yogurt has 0% added fat or sugar.
It’s also free from artificial sweeteners, using only naturally occurring Stevia extract to sweeten instead. This should appeal to those who don’t get on with the artificial sweeteners used in some fat free yogurts.
Arla Fibre Yogurts
I’m constantly on the lookout for new food products when I’m out shopping, in fact, my shopping trips can take hours as a result!
I made another new discovery this week whilst cruising the aisles with my trolley in Tesco.
I wasn’t able to find Arla Fibre yogurt on the Syns Online app, so I made a note to check using the Syns Calculator when I got home. They work out at 2 Syns for a 150g portion, which is 1/3 of a pot.
Available in 2 flavours, Strawberry and Blueberry, this yogurt has added fibre, to aid digestion. Arla Fibre Yogurts cost £1.75 in Tesco for a 450g pot. You can also find them here, on the Tesco website.
Jordans Low Sugar Granola Almond and Hazelnut
There are times when I don’t want to use my Healthy Extra B in the morning.
I do really enjoy a sweet treat later in the day, so I sometimes have Hi Fi bars or even our Low Syn Marshmallow Bars as my HEB choice in the evening.
If I don’t have time for a cooked breakfast, I like to try something a bit different that doesn’t take too long to prepare.
This Jordans Low Sugar Almond and Hazelnut Granola is delicious with some defrosted berries and yogurt.
You get a lovely nutty crunch from the granola, that contrasts beautifully with the yogurt and berries. It’s 5.5 Syns per 25g portion, which isn’t too bad at all.
Prewett’s Mini’s Cheese Biscuits
Savoury biscuits and crackers are a real temptation, but sometimes they can be a bit too more-ish.
Once the packet is open, you need to show real discipline to stop at one or two, which is where these packs come in handy.
Prewett’s Mini’s Cheese Biscuits are gluten free, and baked, not fried. Made using a blend of cheeses, they’re also suitable for vegetarians.
At 6 Syns per 25g bag, they’re a tempting savoury treat to enjoy.
Why not make up some Syn Free Caramelised Onion Hummus and some cruditiés to enjoy with them.
Better still, save your HEA choice too and add some cheese to your platter for a savoury feast!
Prewitt’s Mini’s Cheese Biscuits come in a pack of 5 x 25g bags, which costs £1.99 from Asda.
Tesco Mini Toffee And Banana Hot Cross Buns
In last week’s Shopping Essentials list we featured Asda’s Belgian Chocolate Mini Hot Cross Buns.
This week we have another yummy treat in the shape of these Mini Toffee and Banana Hot Cross Buns from Tesco.
These are delicious toffee flavour hot cross buns, with toffee fudge and banana fruit pieces.
At just 4.5 Syns, they’re perfect for a bite-sized treat with a cuppa, but at only 4.5 Syns each, they won’t send your Syns total spiralling for the day.
Mcvitie’s Jaffa Loopy Lemon Cake Bars
If you like the combination of chocolate and orange flavours, you’re probably already a fan of the traditional Jaffa cake. You might even have had a go at making our 1 Syn Jaffa Cakes for yourself!
Now McVities have created a Jaffa Loopy Lemon Cake Bar. Dark Chocolate & Moist Sponge with a Smashing Lemon Flavoured Centre.
If you’re a Jaffa cakes fan, you’re going to have to give these a try! They’re not on the database yet, but work out at 5 Syns using the Syns Calculator.
Mr Kipling 8 Pink Fancies
Mr Kipling has launched his Spring collection. Now that Spring is coming, we’ll be seeing blossom on the trees, and Pink Fancies on the tea table!
Always a classic, these dainty sponge fancies have a delicious vanilla topping, drenched in soft fondant icing.
Using the calculator, they work out at 5.5 Syns each. They’re a limited edition, so catch them while you can.
Mr Kipling Pink Fancies are available from Asda in a box of 8 cakes for £1.60.
Mr Kipling Strawberry Flower Whirls
The Spring Collection continues!
These Mr Kipling Strawberry Flower Whirls are delicate shortcake flower whirls filled with fruity strawberry jam and a cheesecake flavour filling.
They have 100% natural flavours & no artificial colours.
These work out at 7 Syns each on the Syns Calculator. They’ve got to be worth it for that combination of shortcake biscuits, strawberry jam and cheesecake filling though, right?
A box of 6 Mr Kipling Strawberry Flower Whirls is available from Asda, priced at £1.60.
KitKat 2 Finger Lemon Drizzle bars
KitKat biscuits have been around forever, haven’t they?
The classic 2 finger milk chocolate biscuit is great for a sweet, chocolatey fix when you’re on Slimming World. Many new KitKat flavours have been introduced over the last few year, but this one looks really interesting.
Described as a delicious chocolate biscuit bar of 2 fingers of crispy wafer covered with smooth lemon flavoured chocolate.
I have to admit I’m curious, so I’m going to have to track these down and give them a test drive! They’re 5.5 Syns each on the Syns Online database.
KitKat Lemon Drizzle bars are available in Asda, priced at £1.50 for a pack of 9 x 2 Finger biscuits.
Pukka Organic After Dinner Tea
I discovered Pukka Herbal Teas when I was trying to find an alternative hot drink that I liked. I tend to use my HEA allowance on milk for coffee in the mornings, but then I needed something else for later in the day.
Pukka have a lovely range of flavours, many designed to be enjoyed at different times of the day.
This After Dinner Tea does exactly what it says on the packet. The blend of fennel, chicory and cardamom is designed to aid digestion, so it’s perfect to enjoy after a meal.
Magnum Bomboniera Ice Cream
Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the last few weeks, you can’t have failed to notice that low Syn Ice Creams have been a major talking point recently!
This week, we’ve found another option for you, and we think you’re going to love it! Magnum Bomboniera Ice Creams are bite-sized ice cream treats that are just amazing. This is our Shopping Essentials Top Pick for this week.
