Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 472,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.

Welcome to a new month, and to the thousands of new members of our Facebook Group! This weekly round up of Slimming World friendly products is designed to give you some new Speed food and Free food ideas, or something different to spend your Syns on.
If you attend a Slimming World group, your consultant will almost certainly have mentioned #FreeFoodFebruary during Image Therapy. Many people have contacted the Facebook group asking for ideas for food to make for Taster sessions.
As you know, the Slimming World plan encourages us to include 1/3 of a plate of Speed Food with every meal, where we can, so we always include some Speed foods in our Shopping Essentials round up, too! If you need to double check your Speed Foods, you’ll find a comprehensive list here.
Morrisons Cripps Red Apples
I love a juicy, crisp apple and these Cripps Red Apples from Morrisons fit the bill perfectly. If you enjoy Pink Lady apples, these are very similar in texture and flavour.
They are crisp, crunchy and sweet, ideal for grabbing to stave off those hunger pangs.
Apples are a Speed Food, so if you’re feeling peckish, or your sweet tooth is nagging away, these Cripps Red apples are just the job. They’re great in a packed lunch, too.
These Cripps Red apples come from Morrisons in a prepacked tray of 6 fruits, priced at £2.00 per pack.
Morrisons Ready To Eat White Flesh Nectarine
The taste of nectarines always transports me to summer time, and on a chilly winter day, there’s nothing better than daydreams of warmer, sunny days to come!
While I’m waiting for summer to arrive, I’ll just have to console myself with some of these gorgeous Morrisons Ready To Eat White Flesh Nectarines. They’re great for a quick dessert, chopped up in a bowl with some raspberries and Syn free Greek yogurt.
You won’t have to wait around for them to ripen in the fruit bowl either, as these nectarines are ready to eat. To stop them over-ripening, you can pop them in the fridge.
The Morrisons Ready To Eat White Flesh Nectarines come in a pack of 4, priced at £1.97.
Morrisons Ready To Eat Plums
How frustrating is it waiting for fruit to ripen? You leave it a day or two, then suddenly realise that you’ve left it too late. These Morrisons Ready to Eat Plums can be enjoyed straight away, without having to wait.
They are good to enjoy as a healthy snack, and as they’re a speed food, you can stay on plan and not have to worry about undoing all your good work for the day. You can use them to make a seasonal version of a fruit salad, with plums, apples and blackberries, for example.
The Morrisons Ready To Eat Plums come in a pack of 6 fruits and cost £1.97.
Morrisons The Best Cara Cara Oranges
Oranges are a traditional favourite in every fruit bowl. Colourful, juicy and full of flavour, they’re a speed food which can be enjoyed freely.
I often find that peeling an orange and separating the segments can be a distracting way to take your mind off snacking on the damaging higher Synned stuff, too!
These Morrisons The Best Cara Cara oranges are new to the Morrisons range. They are described as exceptionally sweet, succulent and seedless, with distinctive pink flesh full of aromatic flavour.
The Morrisons The Best Cara Cara oranges come in a bag of 3 fruits, and cost £1.62 per bag.
Morrisons Mini Cucumbers
Miniature versions of any fruit or vegetable always look appealing, and these Morrisons Mini Cucumbers are no exception! They are perfect to munch on as a quick snack, or to pop in a packed lunch box for a speedy snack.
You can serve up a plateful of Speed Veg crudités and a dish of our Syn Free Caramelised Onion Hummus and enjoy the lot, completely free of Syns! No need to sit in front of the TV without something to munch on now!
Morrisons Mini Cucumbers are sold in a 200g punnet which costs 75p.
Baby Fig Punnet
As I mentioned earlier, I love a mini version of any fruit or vegetable! Morrisons have a great range to choose from, including these yummy Baby Figs.
There is nothing like the unique taste and texture of fresh figs. They are lusciously sweet with a texture that combines the chewiness of the flesh with the smoothness of the skin, and the crunchiness of their seeds. For some they may be an acquired taste, but I absolutely love them!
Unfortunately, as with a lot of my favourite fruits, figs are not a Speed food, but they are free. This pack of Baby Figs is available from Morrisons, priced at £2.18 for 140g.
ASDA Prime Cuts Beef Frying Steak
We’re always on the look out for good deals to help you make the most of your weekly shopping budget. This pack of Prime Cuts Beef Frying Steak is new this week in the freezer cabinet at Asda. It’s free as long as all visible fat is trimmed off.
This beef frying steak would be great for making our amazing Syn Free Stir-fried Beef With Ginger and Spring Onion. Perfect for a Friday night Fakeaway!
As the beef frying steak is frozen, you can defrost in the fridge the night before and make your Fakeaway feast!
The great news is that these Asda Prime Cuts Beef Frying Steaks are on offer at 2 packs for £5.00.
Vivera Smoked BBQ Pulled Veggie
Vivera Veggie Shawarma Kebab
I found another tasty vegetarian option when I was exploring the aisles in Waitrose this week! The Vivera Veggie Shawarma Kebab is a Seasoned vegan shawarma kebab made from rehydrated soy protein, containing added iron and vitamin B12.
We have a recipe for a Syn Free Chicken Shawarma on the website, but if you’re a non-meat eater, this would be a great alternative.
It’s a great source of protein and fibre, low in saturated fat and 100% vegan. The reviews on the Waitrose website for this Vivera Veggie Shawarma Kebab are very positive, describing a great taste and texture. Another quote says that if you’re missing a kebab, this hits the spot!
This Vivara Veggie Shawarma Kebab is available from Waitrose and costs £2.39. This is on the Slimming World app for 1.5 Syns for the whole pack.
ASDA Steam Bags Cous Cous & Quinoa Warm Salad
You know how sometimes you just fancy something a bit different with your evening meal? There are some occasions when I really don’t want to use rice, or when the meal I’m planning doesn’t fit with a potato side dish.
This new product from Asda contains frozen cooked giant cous cous with mixed vegetables, quinoa, edamame soya beans and tomatoes in a rapeseed oil and basil dressing.
The steam bags make it super easy to prepare, just microwave and serve for a tasty accompaniment to your food.
I’m already thinking that this would be fab with our Syn Free Lemon and Garlic Chicken Tray Bake and some tenderstem broccoli!
These Asda Steam Cous Cous and Quinoa Warm Salad portions do contain a little oil, and for this reason they’re 3 Syns per bag. The pack contains 2 bags and costs £1.00
Saxa Sea Salt, Smoked Seaweed & Dill
If you’ve been doing Slimming World for a while, and you like to cook, your spice rack is probably overflowing. I now have an entire shelf in my cupboard devoted to herbs and spices!
Of course, the most obvious ingredients to add to your cooking are salt and pepper. A sprinkle of seasoning makes all the difference in the world to your food. In our Shopping Essentials round up from last October, we featured some flavoured salts from Saxa.
Saxa have now added another flavour to the range.A 100% Natural Blend of Sea Salt, Smoked Seaweed & Dill, which can be used for cooking & final seasoning.
Add a pinch to plain fish before cooking, add to our Syn Free Fish Pie or sprinkle over potatoes.
It’s Syn free and available from Asda. A 90g tub costs £1.99
Walkers Baked Fusions Thai Chilli and Lime
In the Shopping Essentials list two weeks ago, we showed you the larger 35g bags of Spicy Tomato and Herb Flavour baked fusions. These Baked Potato Snacks contains 50% less fat than regular potato crisps.
The Thai Chilli and Lime Flavour in these Walkers Baked Fusions wasn’t widely available when it was first launched, but you can now pick them up in most large supermarkets, including from this week, Waitrose!
You will find a 6 x 25g pack of Walkers Baked Fusions Thai Chilli and Lime crisps in Waitrose priced at £1.80, but on offer at 2 packs for £2.00. They’re on the Syns database at 5.5 Syns per bag.
Waitrose Duchy Organic Brown Pitta Bread – NEW HEB!
We often have the same question posted in our Facebook Group…
“Which Pitta bread can I use as my HEB choice, please?”
Until now, there have only been two Pitta breads recognised by Slimming World as an HEB choice, a Supervalu Round Wholemeal Pitta Bread, and a BFree Foods Stone Baked Pitta Bread.
Last week we discovered these Waitrose Duchy Organic Brown Pitta Breads have been added to the database as a new HEB choice.
The Pitta breads are made with organic wholemeal wheat flour flour and baked in a brick lined oven. They need to be heated under a medium grill for one minute. What better way to serve your Syn Free Chicken Tikka Kebabs?!
These Waitrose Duchy Organic Pittas come in a pack of 6 flatbreads and 1 x 53g Pitta = an HEB choice, or 6 Syns. They cost 80p per pack.
Yeo Valley Family Farm 0% Fat Bio Light
Our Shopping Essentials list last November brought news of some new 0% Fat Bio Greek Yogurts from Yeo Valley. Somehow bio yogurts always seem richer and creamier than some of the alternatives in the chilled dairy section.
These Yeo Valley 0% Fat Bio Light Greek yogurts are a blend of real organic fruit and thick, creamy Greek Style Yogurt. As well as being organic, they’re fat free and contain nothing artificial. They’re also Gluten Free, with no artificial sweeteners and suitable for vegetarians, too.
Originally only available in a pack of 4 individual pots, this delicious yogurt is now available in a 450g pot, and in these tempting flavours;
- Blueberry and Blackcurrant
Yeo Valley Family Farm 0% Fat Bio Light Greek Style Organic Yogurt is free on the Slimming World app. Sainsbury’s currently have this at an introductory price of £1.50 per pot.
Müller Light Chocolate Sprinkles
We looked at a new flavour of Müller Light yogurt a couple of weeks ago on the Shopping Essentials list. Raspberry Doughnut flavour appears to be pretty popular so far, and I enjoyed it when I tried it for myself, too!
Now Müller Light have added a new flavour to the chocolate sprinkles multipack. The Vanilla and Orange flavours have been joined by a Smooth Caramel flavour fat free yogurt sprinkled with dark chocolate.
The multipack contains two pots of each flavour;
- Vanilla fat free yogurt sprinkled with dark chocolate
- Orange fat free yogurt sprinkled with dark chocolate
- Smooth caramel flavour fat free yogurt sprinkled with dark chocolate
The Müller Light multipack of 6 x 165g pots costs £3.89 in Waitrose, but you can currently buy 2 packs for £5.00. They’re free on Syns Online, too.
ASDA Extra Special Ghanaian Cocoa Extract
Lots of you have made our deliciously indulgent Low Syn Mississippi Mud Pie Cheesecake, but the most frequently asked question is always, “Where can I buy Chocolate Extract?” Well, now you should be able to find it in your local Asda!
Asda Extra Special Ghanaian Cocoa Extract is available from Asda priced at £1.00 for a 60ml bottle, and it’s Syn free!
Kelloggs Special K Protein Coconut Cocoa And Cashew Bars
We’re always on the look out for new cereal bars to try, something to enjoy and maybe even spend a few syns on. Now Kelloggs have launched these new protein mixed cereals bars, with nuts, coconuts, sunflower seeds and almond butter.
Looking at those ingredients might make you panic and think, ‘No way can I eat those on Slimming World!’ Well, you can! As part of the plan you get 5 – 15 syns each day, which you can use any way you choose to. I regularly use some of my Syns on a Curly Wurly in the evening as a treat/chocolate fix.
If you love nuts, this would be a great way to spend 6 Syns! These Kelloggs Special K Protein Coconut and Cashew bars are sold in a pack of 4 x 28g bars, priced at £2.69. You can pick them up from Tesco. You can also find them here, on the Tesco website.
Kellogg’s Special K Protein Blackcurrant & Pumpkin Seed Bars
Just like the Coconut, Cocoa and Cashew bars featured above, these Blackcurrant and Pumpkin protein mixed cereal bars are another new experience.
Once again, these are protein mixed cereals bars, with nuts, coconuts, sunflower seeds and almond butter, with blackcurrant fruit pieces.
These Kelloggs Special K Protein Blackcurrant and Pumpkin Seed bars are 6 Syns on the Slimming World database, so you can easily accommodate them within your daily Syns allowance.
