Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 630,000 members it keeps going up each week!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly, for our Slimming World Shopping Essentials list!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), but you can join up using the link below for the latest news and discussions on brand new Slimming World-friendly products.

We search the food websites and supermarkets every week to find a selection of new products and special offers to help you stay on plan with Slimming World.
Slimming World recommend having 1/3 Speed Food with every meal where appropriate as part of the Extra Easy plan. If you’re not sure whether your fruit and vegetable choices are Speed Foods, you can check our Speed Foods list.
Morrisons Pod Peas
There’s a famous old Birds Eye advertising jingle, ‘Fresh as the moment when the pod went ‘Pop!’ With these peas, you’ll be able to pop the pods yourself. There’s something really satisfying about doing this, and it’s fun for the kids too!
Fresh peas taste fab, and these peas would be great in our Syn Free Pea, Pickle and Bacon Potato salad.
Not only are peas free food, but they’re also a P food, as they’re packed with protein. They come under the beans, peas and lentils heading in the Free Foods section of the Food optimising book.
A 454g bag of Morrisons fresh pod peas costs £1.50
Morrisons The Best Sweet Baby Peppers
You can add them to salads, use them in soups, stews and curries, stuff them or roast them as a side vegetable. Phew! Told you they were versatile.
These baby peppers are great for a quick snack straight from the fridge, or you can use them however you like in one of delicious recipes, such as our Syn Free Vegetable Tart.
Morrisons The Best Sweet Baby Peppers come in a 250g pack and costs £1.82.
Aldi Super 6
We often feature Aldi and Lidl in our fruit and veg choices, as they offer great value for money with their weekly selections that are on offer. The offers change regularly, Aldi’s offers change fortnightly and Lidl’s change weekly, so keep your eyes peeled.
This week’s selection in Aldi is as follows;
- Tomatoes – great for Syn Free Orzo Primavera Pasta Salad
- Peppers – perfect for Syn Free Enchilada Lasagne
- Mushrooms – try our Syn Free Garlic Mushroom Risotto
- Nectarines – fresh and juicy for a refreshing fruit salad
- Baby Corn – Delicious in our Syn Free Stir Fried Beef with Ginger and Spring Onion
- Jersey Royals – yummy in their own right, or try them in our Low Syn Salmon, Broccoli and Potato Bake
Everything in the Aldi Super 6 selection this week is a speed food, apart from the Jersey Royals, which are free food. Prices range from 39p to 69p per pack and are valid until July 4th.
Waitrose Beetroot & Broad Bean Side Salad
There are some fabulous-looking prepared salads in the chilled cabinet of most supermarkets, but the dressings are usually made with oil, which makes them pretty high in Syns.
This Waitrose Beetroot & Broad Bean Side salad looked interesting, and as there is no oil listed in the ingredients I took a closer look and was delighted to find that it’s free on the Slimming World database.
It’s a mix of lemon and mint marinated beetroot with broad beans, salad leaves and radish, which sounds really good.
Waitrose Beetroot & Broad Bean Side Salad costs £2.50 for a 165g pack.
Tesco Frozen Butter Beans
The Tesco ‘Cooks Ingredients’ range has been featured in several of our Shopping Essentials articles over the last few months. It’s a collection of basic ingredients that is prepared and frozen for your convenience.
There are all sort of ingredients in the range, from chopped herbs, to tomatoes and vegetable base mixes which can be used to create lots of great dishes. Butter beans are a P food and free, so they’re great to add to your culinary creations.
These Frozen Butter Beans can be added to soups, curries and stews, or you could use them in our Syn Free Courgette and Butterbean Frittata. Nom!
Iceland Extra Lean Turkey Sausages
Searching for a decent, low Syn sausage when you’re following Slimming World is like trying to find a needle in a haystack! There are so many out there to choose from. I spotted these Extra Lean Turkey Sausages this week on the Iceland website.
They’re new to the Iceland freezers and the website says that they have 1% fat and 20g protein per serving. They are made from organic turkey and they’re gluten free. You could try them in our Low Syn Spicy Sausage Pasta.
Iceland Indian Curry Chicken Skewers
Regular followers of our weekly Shopping Essentials lists will know that we have covered lots of barbecue ideas from the supermarkets recently. We’re ever-optimistic about the weather and eating al-fresco!
These Iceland Indian Curry Chicken Skewers are just 0.5 Syns each, but be aware, as the mango chutney dip isn’t included in that.
Slimming World have listed the dip separately at 4.5 Syns per sachet on the Syns Online database, so that you can make the choice for yourself.
Waitrose Lemon & Herb Salmon Mini Burgers
Our famous saying, ‘If it swims, it slims’ can be put to the test with these yummy Lemon & Herb Salmon burgers this week!
Fish can make a great substitute for meat based burgers, particularly using an oily fish such as salmon, as it doesn’t dry out so much when cooked.
Waitrose new Lemon & Herb Salmon mini burgers are made with salmon and seasoned with lemon, parsley and dill, to perfectly complement the fish. They are listed on the Slimming World website for 0.5 Syns each.
A pack of 6 burgers costs £4.00 and they’re also included in the 3 for £10.00 promotion.
Quorn Vegan Fajita Strips
We like to try and include vegetarian choices in the shopping essentials list whenever we can, and this week is no exception.
Quorn products are a popular choice for vegetarians, with a selection of products that is always expanding to offer more variety. This week, I’ve found these Quorn Vegan Fajita Strips, which are listed as free on the Slimming World database.
They make a great substitute for chicken in our Syn Free Chicken Fajita Pasta recipe.
These Quorn Fajita flavoured strips can be used in recipes or eaten straight from the pack. A 280g pack costs £2.49 from Ocado.
Lidl Milbona Skyr To Go Yogurt pouches
Lidl have been selling their Milbona brand Skyr yogurts in pots for quite a while now. This particular brand is popular because, unlike some other Skyr yogurt products, this one is Syn free on the Slimming World database.
Milbona are now producing their Skyr yogurts in handy 100g pouches, so they’re perfect for packed lunches, and take up less room in the fridge, too!
It’s higher in protein than most standard yogurts, although it’s not high enough to use on an SP day. The Lidl Milbona Skyr yogurt pouches come in 3 flavours, vanilla, strawberry and blueberry and cost 49p each.
Asda Mini Ice Cream Cone Selection
As I’m writing this article, the sun’s shining, the windows are open and there’s a lawnmower whirring in the distance. (Isn’t there always?!)
Sunny days in the garden call for ice creams, so we’ve had another look around this week to see what’s new in the frozen dessert aisle and found this Asda Mini Ice Cream Cone Selection.
There are three flavours in the box, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate/caramel. The syns have been worked out at 2.5 Syns per ice cream, using the Snackulator on the Slimming World website.
A box of 18 mini ice cream cones costs £3.00 in Asda.
Asda Retro Rippled Ice Cream Lollies
Last year there was a bit of an ice cream frenzy in our Facebook group when someone shared a picture of the Iceland Vienna ice cream lollies. Just like a mini Viennetta on a stick, they’re a great low syn treat.
Asda have now thrown their hat into the ring with these Retro Rippled Ice Cream Lollies. They’re bigger than the Iceland ice creams, and work out at 6 Syns each using the Snackulator.
The lollies come in a box of 3 and cost £1.50 from Asda.
Sainsbury’s Gin & Tonic Sorbet
Gin has had something of a renaissance over the last few years and it’s certainly a great choice for a Slimming World friendly tipple. If you like gin and tonic there’s a new option for you in the freezer, and it’s strictly for over 18s!
Sainsbury’s have launched this Gin & Tonic with a twist of lime alcoholic sorbet. If you love this idea, you could make your own frozen Low Syn Elderflower, Gin & Tonic popsicles.
Sainsbury’s Gin & Tonic with a Twist of Lime Alcoholic Sorbet is priced at £2.00 for a 500ml tub. It works out at 5 Syns per 100g using the Snackulator on the Slimming World website.
Kopparberg Mixed Fruit Alcohol Free
Kopparberg Alcohol free fruit ciders are not new, they’ve been around for ages, but the 500ml bottles have a fairly hefty Syn value, even though they’re alcohol free!
Tesco are now selling these new 330ml bottles of Kopperberg Mixed Fruit Alcohol Free Premium Mixed Fruit Cider, so you can enjoy a taste of summer but you won’t need to sacrifice quite so many Syns.
Arizona Green Tea With Honey
Most of the large supermarket chains have an American Groceries section as part of their World foods department. I had a little browse around at Tesco this week and found these.
This Arizona Green Tea with Honey looks so pretty, it’s almost worth buying just for the bottle! It’s a blend of green tea with honey, sugar and sweeteners, but only 20 calories for the 500ml bottle.
Arizona Half And Half
This Arizona Half Iced Tea and Half Lemonade was also sitting in the World Foods/American groceries section at Tesco when I was browsing around earlier this week.
As the name suggests, the drink is a blend of iced tea and low calorie lemonade with sugar and sweeteners. The 500ml bottle contains 20 calories, so we’re using the 20 cals to 1 Syn rule.
Asda Non Stick Foil
Our final offering this week is not a food choice, but it’s very much food related! Asda have created a non stick aluminium foil which is ideal for cooking.
The dull side of the foil has a non stick coating, which is suitable for roasting and general cooking, as well as wrapping food for storing or freezing.
It would be perfect to line your baking tray with when making your Low Syn KFC Zinger Burgers, so that you keep all your crumbs in the right place!
A 10 metre roll of Asda non stick foil costs £2.00.
