Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 135,000 members!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.
So here we are, with the imaginatively named “This Weeks New Slimming World Shopping Essentials”. We’ve only got a few for this week, so we’ve included a few of the last couple of weeks too!
You can find all of the previous weeks further down the page.
Sweet Freedom Choc Pot – 0.5 Syns Per teaspoon
We love Sweet Freedom, and are very excited about the news of their new Choc Pot!
By the look of the nutritional values, it may be the same as Choc Shot which is 0.5 syns per teaspoon. Of course, we don’t know yet – we’ll have to wait until it’s on Syns Online.
It’s available in the “Free From” aisle in Asda now, just in time for Pancake Day!
Like pancakes? Check out our Low Syn Chocolate & Banana Pancakes.
Walls Solero – Strawberry Smoothie
It’s nearly ice cream season, and Wall’s are teasing us early!
Solero Strawberry Smoothie is a refreshing strawberry sorbet made with 35% sustainable fruit and comes in at 49 calories per serving.
This makes them just 2.5 syns each, how ace is that? We do like Solero’s, and really looking forward to these coming out soon.
Tesco Soft Cheese Sweet Chilli – 40% Lighter – 2.5 Syns/25g
We’re not sure how long this Tesco Soft Cheese Sweet Chilli – 40% Lighter has been about, but it’s certainly pretty new!
Many thanks to Josie in our Facebook group for the tip.
You could make soooo many nice things with this & it’d be especially nice stirred into some pasta.
You could use it instead of Quark in our Syn Free BLT Pasta. Would be amazing!
Kingsmill Hi Fibre White Bread – 2 Slices = HEB + 2 Syns
Kingsmill Hi Fibre White bread is replacing Kingsmill Great White & like it’s predecessor there is a big debate about whether it can count as your Healthy Extra or not.
So we got in touch with Slimming World for a definitive answer… and here’s what we got back;
This product is not an official Slimming World Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice as one slice has too little fibre and two slices are too high in calories.
We are aware that some members may choose to weigh an exact 60g portion of Hi Fibre White, which does contain the correct nutritional proportions to be a Healthy Extra ‘b’, but this may cause some bread to be wasted so it’s up to you if you want to do this.
We haven’t added a 60g measure of Hi Fibre White to the official Healthy Extra lists as it’s not easy to divide this weight into the pre-cut slices.
Similarly, we know some members are choosing 2 medium (38g) slices of Hi Fibre White as their Healthy Extra ‘b’ and counting an extra 2 Syns. Again, as this isn’t a straight forward measurement, we wouldn’t recommend this but it’s entirely up to you if you want to.
So it’s entirely up to you if you want to use it as a HEB, but you can if you want to!
Kingsmill Great white would make our BLT Club Sandwich ever better than it is already!
You can get Kingsmill Hi Fibre White bread from Tesco, Sainsbury’s and some of the other major supermarkets.
Kingsmill Hi Fibre White is priced at around £1.00 per 750g loaf.
Porky Lights – 0.5 Syns Each
If you haven’t heard about Porky Lights, then just where have you been?! Oh my word
It’s not often something lives up to the hype but these Porky Lights sausages REALLY do.
In my opinion, they’re better than a normal full-fat sausage. At just 0.5 a syn each, these are amazing. You could even make our Low Syn Toad In The Hole with them!
Want to try them? They’ve just gone national with Asda, and are available in the following places;
- Premier Stores
- Budgens (who will even order them in for you by the case if you ask nicely!)
- The Range
For more information regarding stockists, get in touch with Porky Lights via their website.
M&S Skinny Chicken Burgers – 0.5 Syns each
These M&S Skinny chicken Burgers, were spotted by a few members of our Facebook group this week!
These M&S Chicken Burgers are just 0.5 syns each and the combination of chicken, garlic & herbs seem to be going down well.
It seems that M&S is extending it’s Skinny range, after adding Skinny Sausages last month.
The Skinny Chicken Burgers are available at M&S Simply Food stores now.
Cooks & Co – Dried Mixed Forest Mushroom Grinder
We’re used dried Porcini mushrooms a lot over the years, they bring a nice earthy flavour. But you can now grind this generously into your dish!
Makes cooking easy & tasty, delivering a more intense flavour than fresh mushrooms.
Perfect for pasta dishes, pizzas, terrines and sauces! It’s Syn free and available over on the Cooks & Co website.
It would be rather nice added to our Syn Free Creamy Pepper Sauce!
Digestive Thins – 1.5 Syns each
These have been all over Facebook this week! Digestive thins are just 1.5 syns each, and a rather nice treat at the end of the day with a cup of tea.
You can get them in Milk Chocolate & Dark chocolate varieties, and you don’t really notice them being “thin”.
Digestive Thins are priced at £1.59 and available in most major supermarkets.
