Slimming World recommend having 1/3 Speed Food with every meal where appropriate as part of the Extra Easy plan.
We check the supermarkets and food websites every week to find a selection of new products and special offers to help you stay on plan with Slimming World.
Aldi Super 6
Budget supermarkets such as Aldi and Lidl are a pretty safe bet when it comes to value for your fruit and vegetables.
They have weekly offers, making it easy to get your fill of free and speed foods for less.
This week at Aldi the offers are as follows;
- Beef Tomatoes – slice and serve in our Syn Free Stuffed Burgers
- Flat peaches – perfect to grab as a snack
- Cucumber – make dip sticks for our Syn Free Red Pepper Hummus
- Sweetcorn – serve with the ultimate Low Syn KFC Zinger Burgers
- Baby potatoes – ideal for this Syn Free Pea, Bacon & Potato Salad
- Radishes – sliced into a salad
All are priced at 35p per pack, so you really can’t go wrong. Available while stocks last at Aldi until Wednesday 29th August.
Protein Food Shop Offer
For most of us approaching the end of the month, pay day can’t come soon enough!
There are only 100 Hampers available, so it’s strictly a first come, first served offer.
If you’re quick, the first 50 orders will get FREE CHILLED NEXT DAY DELIVERY.
Caring for the environment with The Protein Food Shop
The team at the Protein Food Shop only sell meat that is British, Free Range and Grass Fed.
With the emphasis on reducing the impact of plastic on the environment, The Protein Food Shop have gone with a ‘reducing plastic’ theme for this hamper.
Instead of plastic trays, all meat products, apart from sausages, are vac-packed, which will significantly reduce the plastic used.
- Boneless & Skinless Chicken Thighs – 2 x 1kg
- Traditional Chipolatas – 2 x 500g
- Smokey BBQ Chicken Breasts – 2 x 6/7oz
- Piri Piri Chicken Breasts – 2 x 6/7oz
- Beef Steak Mince – 2 x 400g
- Pork Mince – 2 x 400g
- Rindless Back Bacon – 2 x 500g
Another great offer!
If you’d rather make up your own order, the Protein Food Shop are offering a 10% discount for everything else on the website, using the discount code 10NOM. (This discount does not apply to the hamper offer.)
Asda Fat Free Greek Yogurt
There are a mind-boggling range of yogurts on the market, so many to choose from.
Greek yogurt is really versatile, whether you’re eating straight from the pot or using it in a recipe. It’s great for curries too, like our Syn Free Creamy Chicken Curry.
This Asda Fat Free Greek yogurt is free on Syns online, so it’s another to add to your list of free yogurts that can be enjoyed on Slimming World.
You can buy it in 2 sizes. The 170g pot costs 80p and the standard 500g pot costs £1.50.
Tesco Rich And Smoky/Red Wine Stock Pots
We are huge fans of stock pots. They are a great way to introduce flavour to a dish and are so easy to use.
As well as the standard range of beef, chicken and vegetable stocks, there are also varieties which offer an extra element.
Tesco have added some new flavours to their range of stock pots, including Rich and Smoky.
This is a flavoured vegetable stock with applewood smoked paprika. There’s also a Red Wine stock pot, perfect for adding depth to casseroles and meat dishes, like our Syn Free Cuban Beef.
In the Shopping Essentials list last week we featured a new Flava-It marinade flavour.
Whilst I was mooching around Aldi, I noticed these flavour sachets so I thought I’d check them out.
They compare pretty favourably, so I wanted to feature them here too.
The Chinese and Sweet Chilli flavours are 6 Syns each for the 35g sachet on the database.
The Peri-Peri flavour is 5.5 Syns, so even better!
They’re great for adding flavour to meat, fish or vegetables, just sprinkle over or rub into meat before cooking.
They cost just 59p from Aldi, much cheaper than the Flava-It range!
Dolmio Veggie Goodness Sauce
One of my favourites is this Syn Free Creamy Tomato pasta. Really tasty and so easy to make!
When you are time-poor and cooking from scratch just isn’t an option, this Dolmio Veggie Goodness Sauce could be handy to keep in the cupboard.
You can heat this in a pan or even in the microwave, then serve over hot, cooked pasta.
The suggested serving is 170g, so half of this 340g pouch. The Slimming World database lists this flavour as 6.5 Syns for the full pack.
You can buy the Dolmio Veggie Goodness Sun-Ripened Tomato, Courgette & Basil sauce from Morrisons, priced at £2.00.
Batchelors Cous Cous
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I want something a bit different to spuds or pasta on my plate at meal times.
If you prefer cous cous, Batchelors have added three new flavours to their range.
- Peri-Peri – 0.5 Syns per half pack, cooked
- Chilli Beef – 0.5 Syns per half pack, cooked
- Chicken & Roasted Vegetable – 1 Syn per half pack, cooked
These Syn values have been worked out using the Syns Calculator on the Slimming World website.
A packet of Batchelors Cous Cous is on Rollback at Asda, priced at 50p per pack.
Morrisons The Best Crackers
If you’re a fan of savoury snacks, you probably miss traditional cheese and biscuits more than anything!
I have more of a sweet tooth, but sometimes I save my Healthy Extra A choice to use on some cheese and Syn some crackers.
Morrisons The Best have a tasty new range of savoury biscuits to try;
- Four Seed Wheat Crackers
- Paprika & Nigella Seed Crackers
- Rosemary Crackers
All flavours work out at 1.5 Syns per cracker when put through the Syns calculator.
They’re a tasty change if you’re looking for something a little different. Each 150g pack costs £1.70 from Morrisons.
Asda Great Shape Crisps
Crisps are a very popular subject in our Facebook group. The topic comes up all the time, with people asking which crisps are best for Syn value, flavour, crunch, etc.
When it comes to the crunch factor, these Roast Vegetable crisps certainly tick the box. They are available in two flavours, Punchy Paprika and Cool Sour Cream & Onion.
We’ve used the Syns calculator on the Slimming World website to find the Syn values, which work out at 5 Syns per 23g bag.
You’ll find them in the crisps and snack aisle at Asda, priced at 55p per bag.
Aldi Alcafé Light Latte
Over the past few weeks we’ve brought news of various coffee shop style drinks to make at home in our weekly Shopping Essentials round up.
They’re a popular choice if you fancy a treat at home, especially if you’re saving your Healthy Extra A choice for cheese.
These Alcafé Light Latte sachets are on the Syns Online database for 3.5 Syns each, which is quite a saving Syns-wise, when compared to the coffee shop Syn values.
Alcafé Light Latte sachets are great value for money, too. A box of 8 sachets costs just 75p. Get that kettle on!
Soreen Strawberry lunchbox loaves
The Soreen brand has been associated with malt loaf for as long as I can remember.
That sticky, chewy, rich and fruity loaf is amazing just sliced and enjoyed with a smidge of butter (Synned, of course!) and a cuppa. Ahhhh, bliss!
Soreen also have lunchbox loaves, which are the perfect size to pop into a packed lunch.
As well as original flavour, we’ve previously featured the apple and the banana flavour mini loaves in our Shopping Essentials articles.
Now there’s a new limited edition Strawberry flavour lunchbox loaf to tempt your tastebuds.
They’re exclusive to Asda at the moment, priced at £1.00 for a pack of 5. They work out at 4.5 Syns per mini loaf, using the Syns Calculator.
Asda Chocolate Brownie/Blueberry Muffin Fibre bars
Whilst searching the shelves in Asda for the Fibre One Cake Bars, I also found these new Asda Fibre bars.
Somebody posted them to the Facebook group last week, but they were so new they weren’t on the Asda website.
This meant I had to go and find them for myself so I could work out Syn values!
My triumph was short-lived though, as they’re now on the Asda website and on the Slimming World app. Ah well!
Both the Chocolate Brownie and the Blueberry Muffin Fibre bars are 4 Syns each on the Slimming World database. They cost £1.25 for a pack of 5 bars.
Aldi Vive No Added Sugar soft drinks
There are a plethora of fizzy drinks to choose from these days.
Flavoured water is a popular choice, but it’s always worth a quick check on Syns Online to ensure that it’s free.
Some flavoured water contains sugar, which will give it a Syn value.
If you enjoy the taste of Italian Sanpellegrino, this Aldi clone is pretty impressive, and better still it’s Syn Free! (Unlike Sanpellegrino!)
It’s a combination of fruit juice from concentrate and sparkling water.
This Aldi sparkling Italian style drink range is available in three flavours;
- Arancia – Sparkling Orange flavour
- Arancia Rossa – Sparkling Blood Orange flavour
- Limone e Menta – Sparkling Lemon & Mint flavour
A 1 litre bottle is priced at just 79p, so this definitely wins in the value for money category too.
Kinder Bueno Mini Mix
If you though Kinder was just for kids, think again. Forget the eggs with the fiddly toy in the middle, these are individually wrapped pieces of delicious chocolate.
Ideal for adults. After all, why should the children have all the fun?!
Kinder Bueno Mini Mix are pieces of classic, white or dark chocolate covered wafer mini, with a smooth, milky and hazelnut filling.
They’re on the Slimming World app at 1.5 Syns per 5.4g piece, so they’d be perfect if you have a few Syns to spare.
I’ve only found these in Asda so far, priced at £1.00 for an 18 piece box, but hopefully they’ll appear in other stores soon.
Morrisons Bubblegum Lollies
In one of our April Shopping Essentials lists, we featured Iceland Bubblegum lollies. Morrisons have now brought out an own brand version.
Bubblegum flavour milky ice lollies, with no artificial colours or flavours.
The lollies are suitable for vegetarians, and are on the Slimming World website for 3 Syns each.
Several of the online reviews suggest that they taste more like banana than bubblegum, which is worth bearing in mind.
A box of 5 Bubblegum lollies costs £1.00 from Morrisons.
Starburst Minis unwrapped!
I’m always on the lookout for a sweet treat to spend my Syns on. I try to save a few Syns for something tasty when I sit down in the evening, so I was very happy to spot these.
Just like the Starburst chewy sweets you know and love, although when I was young they were called Opal Fruits.
These are smaller, and they don’t have wrappers. Strawberry, cherry, orange, and lemon flavours with the same soft and chewy texture.
A 38g serving of these Starburst Minis works out at 7.5 Syns using the Syns Calculator.
It may not sound much, but you actually get quite a few sweets for 38 grams, and as they’re chewy, you can make them last a while!
They are on sale in Asda for £1.00 per bag.
Skittles Chewies No Shell
Traditional Skittles have a crisp sugar shell, and a soft, fruity and chewy centre. Take away the crispy outer coating and you have these…Skittles Chewies No Shell!
They’re actually very similar to the Starburst Unwrapped sweets detailed above. Small and very chewy, and the same Syn values too!
A 38g portion works out at 7.5 Syns using the Syns Calculator.
You get the same Skittles flavours as usual, orange, lemon, lime, blackcurrant, and strawberry, but naked!
It might be controversial of me to say it, but I think I prefer them to the original Skittles with shells! Once again, they’re on sale at Asda, priced at £1.00 per bag.

I must stress the following…
Everything written here about the products is my own opinion. Syn values given are correct at time of writing but may not always be accurate.
Ideally, you should check with Slimming world for the most up to date Syn values using official resources such as; the Syns calculator, Syns Online on LifelineOnline or by calling the Syns Hotline on (0906) 851 8518.
