Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 603,000 members it keeps going up each week!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly, for our Slimming World Shopping Essentials list!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), but you can join up using the link below for the latest news and discussions on brand new Slimming World-friendly products.

Every week we search the supermarkets and food websites to find a selection of new products and special offers to help you stay on plan with Slimming World.
Slimming World recommend having 1/3 Speed Food with every meal where appropriate as part of the Extra Easy plan. If you’re not sure whether your fruit and vegetable choices are Speed Foods, you can check our Speed Foods list.
Lidl Pick of the Week
There are some great offers on fresh fruit and vegetables in both Lidl and Aldi every week. This week is no exception, so we’ve chosen Lidl, as their current Pick of the Week is full of Speed Foods!
- Wild Rocket – perfect for our Syn Free Rocket and Basil Pesto
- Extra Fine Beans – great to serve with Syn Free Campfire Stew
- Piccolo Tomatoes – tasty in our Syn Free Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella Salad
- Red Peppers – try our fab Syn Free Red Pepper Hummus
Of course, these are just a handful of the recipes you can make with such versatile ingredients! For more great ideas, check out the Pinch of Nom website here.
These vegetables are on offer all week, prices range from 39p to 99p per pack.
Tesco Seasonal Mango, Raspberry And Apple
We often feature ready prepared fruit and vegetable pots in our Shopping Essentials list. They’re a great way to stay on plan if you’re feeling peckish and don’t want to blow your Syns allowance for the day.
The combinations of fruit are pretty wide-ranging, so you can always find something that appeals. Mango is a free food and raspberries and apples are Speed Food, so you can save your Syns for later!
ASDA Butcher’s Selection Mediterranean Chicken Breast Kebabs
With another bank holiday weekend approaching, we have the prospect of some decent weather, fingers crossed! That combination means that barbecues will probably be fired up, so we’ve found a few gems for you.
Asda Butcher’s Selection Mediterranean Chicken Breast Kebabs are diced chicken breast pieces in a smoked sun-dried tomato and oregano coating, with red onion and green pepper pieces on wooden skewers.
They sound really tasty, and they’re on the Slimming World app at just 0.5 Syns per skewer, so well worth it. A pack of 4 Kebabs costs £3.00 from Asda.
Morrisons Skinless/Boneless Thigh Fillets
We tend to choose chicken thighs rather than chicken breast in all our recipes. The meat is tender and flavoursome so it’s a great option.
Morrisons have this 600g pack of skinless and boneless chicken thighs on offer at the moment. If you haven’t tried our amazing Syn Free Chicken Kebab yet, grab a pack of these and give it a go!
These packs are priced at £4.00 for 600g. They are also part of a multi buy offer of 3 for £10.00, so you can take advantage and fill the freezer too!
Morrisons Market St Cod & Chorizo Burgers
You’ve probably heard our mantra – “If it swims, it slims!” so we like to include fish in our weekly meal plans when we can.
We have lots of fabulous fish recipes on the website, including my favourite Low Syn Monk Fish Bites with Tartar Sauce. With this in mind, we’ve found some fishy options that will offer something new for you.
Morrisons Cod and Chorizo burgers are made with cod, chorizo, smoked cod and prawns, with spring onion and lemon and parsley seasoning. They work out at 1 Syn each using the Syns Calculator, which isn’t bad at all!
You can find these in Morrisons, priced at £2.50 for a pack of 2 burgers.
Morrisons Market St Salmon & Cod Burgers
Fish is very fashionable at the moment! There are lots of new fish products coming onto the market, which is music to our ears.
These Morrisons Market St Salmon and Cod burgers are another great option if you like fish. They are made with Salmon, cod and prawn and spring onion, then seasoned with lemon and parsley.
A pack of two Market St. Salmon and Cod burgers is priced at £2.50 in Morrisons. Using the Syns Calculator, they work out at 0.5 Syns per burger.
Morrisons The Best Chunky Thai Salmon & Prawn Fishcakes
If you love fish and don’t mind spending a few Syns on something a little more indulgent, these Chunky Thai Salmon and Prawn fishcakes from Morrisons might be of interest to you!
They are salmon, cod, prawn, potato and green bean fishcakes with Thai style seasoning in breadcrumbs, and would go very nicely with our Syn Free Chilli Sauce!
The crumb coating pushes up the Syn value on these fishcakes. They are on the Slimming World database at 6.5 Syns each.
A pack of two fishcakes costs £2.60 in Morrisons, and you can buy 2 packs for £4.00. They are suitable for home freezing.
Morrisons Market St Spicy Chickpea & Sweetcorn Burger
The majority of supermarkets have a range of new products out at the moment which are suitable for summer barbecues.
If you’re after a non-meat option, we’ve found these tasty new Spicy Chickpea and Sweetcorn Burgers in Morrisons.
They are vegan burgers made with sweetcorn, brown rice and chickpeas, flavoured with spices, onion, ginger, garlic, coriander and lemon. They have a chilli rating of 2 – medium.
Using the Syns calculator, these work out at 1.5 Syns per burger. They cost £1.75 for a pack of 2 burgers in Morrisons.
I have to confess I was very intrigued by this when I spotted it on the Tesco website this week, so I’ve done a bit of research.
Oumph! is a new range of vegetarian/vegan foods made from Soya protein. There are several varieties, seasoned and unseasoned. It’s high in protein and fibre and a source of iron too.
Pulled Oumph! is prepared in a BBQ sauce, but all the hard work has been done for you, so all you need to do is stir fry it in a hot pan!
The products appear to be pretty widely available in Tesco stores throughout the UK, from the list of stockists on their website.
Oumph! Kebab Spiced
As I mentioned above, there are 4 varieties of Oumph! vegetarian products on the market at the moment, so here’s another choice which may prove popular for Vegetarians and Vegans.
Strips of soya protein, flavoured with kebab spices and deep frozen. It cooks from frozen in 5-6 minutes, so it sounds like a great choice if you don’t eat meat. It’s approved by the Vegetarian Society and suitable for Vegans too.
Muller Lightly Salted Spreadable Butter
If you’re following the Slimming World plan, you’ll no doubt be aware of Muller products. They have a mind-boggling range of Syn Free and low Syn yogurts and desserts, many of which fit in well with the SW plan.
Muller have now launched Lightly Salted Spreadable Butter. If you are a true butter lover, you’ll already know that you have to sacrifice a few Syns to enjoy that flavour.
This Muller Lightly Salted Spreadable Butter isn’t on the Syns Online Database yet. It works out at 1.5 Syns per 5g serving, so it’s comparable with other spreadable butters on the market.
Heinz Tomato Ketchup No Added Sugar And Salt
The brand name Heinz has always been associated with Tomato Ketchup. It’s a staple in households everywhere.
The standard Heinz Ketchup is 1 Syn per level tablespoon on the Syns Online app, but now Heinz have introduced a new version, with no added sugar or salt.
Heinz Tomato Ketchup with no added sugar or salt is better value, Syns-wise. It’s on the Syns Online database at 0.5 Syns per 2 level tablespoons.
Onken Natural 0% Fat Yogurt 1Kg
Onken is another familiar yogurt brand in the chilled food aisles of the supermarket. They have some delicious flavours of fat free yogurt, but as many folk (including me) have discovered, fat free doesn’t always mean Syn Free.
Happily, this Onken Natural 0% Fat yogurt is Syn Free, so if you go through a lot of yogurt, this should be of interest to you!
Natural yogurt is a really versatile product, and can be used in sweet and savoury dishes. It’s ideal for the yogurt dressing in our Syn Free Chicken Shawarma.
Lindahls Kvarg Raspberry/Vanilla
We’ve seen quite a bit of talk in our Facebook group about these Lindahls Kvarg pots. If you haven’t seen Lindahls Kvarg before, it’s vanilla or fruit flavoured quark that is Syn free on the Syns Online database.
It has been available for quite a while from some B&M stores, Heron Foods and Home Bargains.
Back in March, we brought news that they were selling Lindahls Kvarg in Asda. Well, now you can also pick it up in Morrisons, and it’s on sale at an introductory price until the 4th of June.
You’ll find Raspberry and Vanilla flavour in Morrisons, priced at 50p each until 3/6/18. After this date they will cost 85p per pot.
Kellogg’s Special K Bar Dark Chocolate & Cranberries
Kellogg’s have recently relaunched their range of Special K cereal bars. A new and improved recipe, packed with wholegrain oats and a bigger bar, compared to the previous recipe.
These are wholewheat oat bars with dark chocolate and cranberries dipped in a smooth chocolate flavoured syrup layer. Using the Snackulator, they work out at 5 Syns each.
If you love cranberries, why not try our Low Syn Cranberry and Almond Oat Cookies as a teatime treat. You could even drizzle a little chocolate over them – just don’t forget to Syn it! 😉
The Kelloggs Special K Dark Chocolate and Cranberries bars have no artificial flavours, colours, preservatives or sweeteners and they’re suitable for vegetarians.
You can find these in Asda, priced at £1.98 for a box of 5 x 27g bars.
Oreo Birthday Party Sandwich Biscuits
Oreo biscuits made their way across the pond from America over 10 years ago now. Consisting of 2 chocolate flavour biscuits sandwiched together with a cream filling, the instructions were to twist them, lick them and dunk them in milk!
Since then, there have been many limited edition flavours…and here’s another. Oreo Birthday Party Sandwich Biscuits are chocolate flavour sandwich biscuits with a caramel flavour filling and coloured sprinkles.
They work out at 2.5 Syns each, using the snackulator on the SW website. A pack of Oreo Birthday Party Sandwich Biscuits costs £1.08 from Asda.
Iceland Solo Sundaes
Iceland have a new range of Ice Cream Sundae desserts in the freezers and they look really good! Each box contains 4 individual ice cream dessert pots with a fruit flavoured swirl of sauce.
There is a red berries themed selection which contains the following flavours;
- Sour Cherry
There’s also a tropical themed selection which contains these flavours;
- Lemon & Lime
Brewdog Nanny State (Abv 0.5%) 4 x 330ml
Last June in our Shopping Essentials round up, we showed you this Brewdog Nanny State drink. It’s so low in alcohol it is below the legal classification of beer, but it’s not quite alcohol free as it’s 0.5% ABV.
Previously, it’s only been available in glass bottles, but it now also comes in a 330ml can and it’s on sale in Morrisons.
It has a really good, hoppy flavour and it’s rated on Amazon as one of the best ‘non-alcoholic’ beers on the market.
At just 1.5 Syns per can on the Slimming World website, this refreshing brew is a great low Syn alternative to its higher Synned counterparts. If you need to check the Syns in other beers and lagers, have a look here.
