Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 582,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly, for our Shopping Essentials list!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), but you can join up using the link below for the latest news and discussions on brand new Slimming World-friendly products.

Every week we search supermarkets and food websites to bring you a selection of new products and special offers to help you stay on plan with Slimming World.
Slimming World always recommend having 1/3 Speed Food with every meal as part of the Extra Easy plan. If you’re not sure whether your fruit and vegetable choices are Speed Foods, you can check our Speed Foods list.
Lidl Pick Of The Week
There are great offers on fresh fruit and vegetables every week in the supermarkets, particularly stores such as Lidl and Aldi.
These deals are great whether you’re on a tight budget or just looking to save a few pence here and there.
This week, Lidl have the following offers in their Pick Of The Week selection;
- Speciality Pears – for a weekend treat 3.5 Syn a slice Pear and Almond Sponge
- British Parsnips – how about some Half Syn Honey Glazed Roast Parsnips
- Cucumber – ideal for dipping in our Syn Free Beetroot and Mint Hummus
- Baking Potatoes – Wedge them for Syn Free Chilli Cheesy Nachos
Prices range from 39p to 99p per pack, offer valid until 03/5/18.
Morrisons Melon Balls
Melon is always a great speed food choice. It’s filling, sweet and juicy, but can be messy and fiddly to prepare.
Frozen fruits offer a mess-free way to increase your Speed food intake without the fuss, the time-consuming preparation or any waste. Speed fruits and Vegetables are still Speed even if they’ve been frozen.
Morrisons have launched this delicious new mix of Honeydew, Cantaloupe and Watermelon balls in their freezer section. Ideal for our Syn Free Melon and Berry Bowl!
This 500g pack of Morrisons Melon Balls costs £2.00
Iceland Green Bean, Tenderstem Broccoli and Carrot Bundles
If you’re a member of our Facebook group, you’ll probably have seen lots of amazing meals posted by other members and thought, ‘Ooooh, that looks SO good!’
It’s often said that we eat with our eyes, so presentation can help to make even a very simple meal look amazing.
These lovely vegetable bundles are new to the Iceland frozen veg range. Prepared green beans, tenderstem broccoli and carrots, tied with a courgette ring.
These would look great served alongside a delicious Syn Free meal, like our Syn Free Hunters Chicken. The added bonus is that they’re all speed foods! Great for adding to your plate for a perfectly food-optimised meal.
Iceland Broccoli, Green Bean & Pea Mix
As you probably know, Iceland is the only shop that sells the Slimming World range of ready meals. What you may not know is that they also add shelf labels to products that are free on Slimming World, helping you to make great choices whilst filling your trolley.
Iceland Broccoli, Green Bean and Pea mix is a great combination of S and P (Speed & Protein) foods, so it’s great for filling your plate, even on an SP day!
Iceland Carrot, Broccoli & Sweetcorn Mix
I always keep at least one bag of frozen veg in my freezer, in case of emergencies. Like when you suddenly realise you forgot to pick up carrots on the way home…it can’t just be me, can it?!
When you’ve had a long day, it’s much easier to just grab a portion of prepared veg straight from the freezer to add to your plate and this fits the bill perfectly!
This mix of sliced carrots, broccoli florets and sweetcorn kernels is a combination of speed vegetables, with the carrots and broccoli, and free food with the sweetcorn.
Tesco Classic Vegetable Base Mix
This ‘holy trinity’ of ingredients is made up of finely diced carrots, celery and onions, fried off and used as a base to create a flavoursome sauce, soup, ragu, risotto or casserole. It’s known as ‘Soffritto’.
Soffritto is an Italian word that means ‘under-fried’, or ‘fried slowly’. It’s primarily a mixture of the 3 basic ingredients, finely minced and used in Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American cooking.
This base mix is the foundation for many recipes, and it’s full of flavour, so you’ll be well on your way to creating an amazing dish. Try it in our Syn Free Pasta Bolognese Bake.
Iceland Luxury Mediterranean Butterflied Sea Bass Fillets
We love fish and we try to include it a couple of times each week in our meal planning. I’m sure you’ve heard our Slimming World mantra for fish recipes – ‘If it swims…it slims!’
My current favourite is our Low Syn Smoked Haddock & Creamy Mustard Sauce. It’s rich and full of flavour, but it can be rustled up in just 20 minutes! You can’t say fairer than that!
These Iceland Luxury Mediterranean Butterflied Sea Bass Fillets are simply prepared with lemon and dried parsley. They can be oven-cooked from frozen, so great when time is tight. Better still, they’re free on the Syns calculator.
Iceland Whole Rainbow Trout
As I mentioned above, we do love fish and try to include it several times a week. I regularly make up a Syn Free Fish Pie, either to eat immediately or to freeze for a later date.
For a more decadent fishy feast, take a look at these Whole Rainbow Trout from Iceland. These come in a foil bag, with lemon slices and a sachet of hickory smoke flavour wood chips.
All you need to do is place the foil bag on a baking tray and bake for 30-35 mins from frozen. Couldn’t be simpler, and works out free on the Syns Calculator.
Sainsbury’s Roast Fire Grilled Chicken Breast Chunks
We’re always on the lookout for easy ways to throw a meal together. Anything that can save some precious time is a bonus. When life gets busy, it can be harder to stay on plan, as the temptation to reach for the takeaway menu takes over.
This Sainsbury’s Roast Fire Grilled Chicken needs no preparation. It would be great for adding to a salad box with our Syn Free Orzo Primavera Pasta Salad for a quick lunch idea.
You could also add it to lots of other chicken recipes, or even make a simple stir fry.
Sainsbury’s Roast Fire Grilled Chicken Breast Chunks come in a 250g pack and cost £4.00. It’s free when put through the Syns Calculator.
Yeo Valley 0% Greek Peach & Raspberry Layered Yogurt
Whenever I spot a new yogurt on the block, I like to look it up on the Syns Online database to see if it’s Slimming World friendly.
Usually a fruit compote layer immediately hikes up the Syn value, but this Yeo Valley 0% Greek Peach and Raspberry layered yogurt is only 2.5 Syns for the whole 450g pot!
It’s organic and free from gelatine, making it suitable for vegetarians, too. Ocado have these on offer priced at £1.50 until 15/5/18. After this date, they’ll revert to their usual selling price of £2.49.
Yeo Valley 0% Greek Strawberry & Mango Layered Yogurt
There’s another new flavour in the range from Yeo Valley, with this Strawberry and Mango Layered Greek Yogurt.
Once again, these are suitable for vegetarians as they contain no gelatine. 0% Greek yogurt, layered with strawberry compote and mango compote for a delicious dessert.
The Yeo Valley 0% layered Greek Yogurt range is listed on Syns Online at 2.5 Syns for the 450g pot. They are on offer in Ocado, priced at £1.50 instead of £2.49. This offer is running until 15/5/18.
Smooze Fruit Ice Coconut & Mango
Last weekend, we were briefly teased by warm, summery weather, with temperatures into the high twenties for most of us!
When the sun is shining, thoughts always turn to ice cream and frozen treats. We’ve brought you plenty of ice cream and lollies over recent weeks in our Shopping Essentials feature.
Smooze is a delicious, freeze-at-home, tropical treat that is perfect for the whole family. Made simply from freshly-pressed coconut milk and pure fruit juices and purees.
They are free from dairy, gluten, soy, nuts, artificial sweeteners, colourings and flavourings, and they work out at 3.5 Syns each on the snackulator, which is pretty low for anything involving coconut!
Smooze Fruit Ice Simply Coconut
If you like coconut, you’re going to love these Smooze Fruit Ice Simply Coconut Ice Pops. You freeze them yourself at home, for a delicious tropical treat.
They’re made from freshly pressed coconut milk, and they’re dairy, gluten and nut free. There are also no artifical sweeteners, colours or flavours.
The Smooze Fruit Ice Simply Coconut ice pops are on the Syns Online database at 5 Syns each – slightly higher than the Mango & Coconut variety.
Iceland Chocolate Surprise Mini Sticks
We’re staying with ice creams and lollies for just a little bit longer to show you these Iceland Chocolate Surprise Mini Sticks. Cream flavour ice cream part dipped in milk chocolate with crushed milk chocolate in a crisp sugar shell.
If you have little people in your house, you may have to hide a couple of these for yourself! Using the Syns Calculator, these work out at 4.5 Syns each.
They’re pretty new to the Iceland range, but there’s a review online already which says,
‘These ice lollies are lovely and creamy and the chocolate tastes great.’
I think I’ll have to grab a box of these next time I’m near an Iceland store and try them for myself. They cost £2.00 for a box of 8 Chocolate Surprise Mini Sticks.
Starburst Strawberry Gum
I initially spotted this Starburst Strawberry gum a few weeks ago in a trade magazine, before they’d been launched on general sale.
I usually keep some chewing gum in my bag, as I find it handy to stave off the munchies. Rather than grabbing a chocolate bar or snack that will be damagingly high in Syns, chewing gum just takes your mind off that urge until it passes!
I always choose a sugar free gum, and my preferred brand works out at 5 pellets for half a Syn, although other brands and manufacturers do vary. This pack is listed on Syns Online at 6.5 Syns for the pack.
This Starburst Strawberry Gum is now available from Tesco, priced at £2.00. Instead of the more traditional peppermint or spearmint flavour gums, this makes a tasty change.
You can also find it here, on the Tesco website.
