Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 225,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!), one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.
This post contains affiliate links. Find out what this means.
This week, we’ve found even more new products that are perfect for the warmer weather that lots of us are experiencing this week ☀️ Huzzah!
Firstly though, I’d like to introduce Tony…if you’re a member of our Facebook group, you may have already met!
This is Tony Carr ❤️ He’s the newest addition to Pinch Of Nom team.
He’ll be online in our Facebook group to answer/help with fitness questions, as well as penning some pieces on the website too ❤️
A lot of you have chosen to supplement your journeys with fitness. Tony is THE man when it comes to fitness – he’s a PT to the stars (seriously!). He’s also a really, really nice guy.
We may know quite a bit about food, but we’re no experts on fitness, so it always helps to have someone who knows what they’re talking about!
Tony is also one of the guys behind Protein Food Shop, who we have partnered up with to bring you some fab deals on meat and other things to help you on your way.
We do love a good BBQ, and it finally looks like we’re going to get some nice weather, after a rather Autumnal week! Nearly 500 of you have ordered, and if you want one you best be quick!
6 x Pork & Leek Sausages – 1.5 Syns each
16 x Traditional Pork Chipolatas – 0.5 Syns each
16 x Cumberland Pork Chipolatas – 0.5 Syns each
8 x Classic Grill Burgers
2 x Smokey BBQ Chicken Breasts – Syn free
2 x Piri Piri Chicken Breasts – Syn free
1KG of Premium Rump Steak – Syn free
2.5kg Prime Chicken Breasts – Syn free
You can grab this very special offer over on the Protein Food Shop website!
Cherries – Free Food
It’s that time of the year when Cherries come into season here in the UK.
I do love cherries, and have to remind myself that they’re a free food and not a speed food.
Lots of the supermarkets have them on offer at the mo, so grab a bargain!
If you need help working out what is a speed food, why not check out our Slimming World Speed Food List!
M&S Tre Colori Pomodoro Tomatoes
I love tomatoes! That deliciously evocative scent as you open the packet.
For me, that smell brings back childhood memories of my Grandad’s greenhouse, picking bowl after bowl of those little red jewels.
They’re at the heart of any tasty salad for me, giving a wonderful, fresh flavour. They come into their own when you roast them, too.
There’s currently a huge range of tomatoes available. Bang in season, they taste amazing and obviously they’re a very versatile speed food, too.
We found these from M&S, Tre Colori Pomodoro. (Bonus points if you can translate Tre Colori!) Three appetising colours, packed full of flavour, and the bonus is, they’re speed foods, too.
Morrisons Eat Smart Frozen Lean Minced Beef
We’ve seen this pop up in our Facebook group quite a few times now, but sadly the opinions aren’t too favourable.
From what we hear it has a bit of a weird texture and those that have tried it have been far from impressed. One of our members even took it back to the store to complain.
Of course, it’s up to you if you want to give it a go but personally we’d go for fresh rather than frozen every time.
You could even try some of Tony’s mince from Protein Food Shop.
M&S Sushi Snack pack
Staying with Marks and Spencer, we found these sushi snack packs in the chilled section, alongside the higher Synned sandwiches. (For example, a chicken salad sandwich in the fridge opposite is listed on the database at 19 Syns! YES!! 19!!!!)
In days gone by, I’d have happily eaten a chicken salad sandwich, plus a bag of crisps and possibly a brownie or other sweet treat as a meal deal.
The ridiculous thing is, that would have used up half a week’s worth of Syns, just for one lunch! Fortunately, the sushi is great value, Syns-wise.
The Sushi snack packs work out at 1 Syn, according to the SW database, so it’s definitely worth a try, for a delicious, high protein and low Syn snack.
Don’t forget, we have a saying here at Pinch of Nom; If it swims, it slims!
M&S 0% Fat Greek Style Yogurts
A decent, low Syn yogurt is a treat, especially when you’re following the Slimming World plan.
It can make you feel as though you’re enjoying a decadent, luxurious dessert, whilst staying fully on plan.
Marks and Spencer really are on a roll with their SW friendly products at the moment, and these are no exception.
A delicious combination of Greek yogurt, layered over a fruit compote. Somehow, that jammy layer of compote makes a dull yogurt far more interesting!
At the moment, these are available in two yummy flavours;
- Raspberry & blackberry for 1.5 Syns
- Strawberry & Rhubarb for 0.5 Syns
Coke Zero Vanilla
Regular readers will remember that we featured Pepsi Max Ginger on our shopping essentials list a few weeks ago.
It would appear that flavoured Coke/Pepsi soft drinks are becoming increasingly popular.
Coca Cola recently launched Coke Zero Vanilla to add to their range.
We originally featured it back in March, but there was limited availability.
The good news is that Coke Zero Vanilla is now available in Tesco, so it’ll be rolling out to other supermarkets very soon!
R Whites Diet Lemonade
Yes we know this isn’t new, but the 330ml cans have recently undergone a bit of a rebrand, so if you’re looking for it on the shelves you’re keeping an eye out for a new white and blue design, not the more traditional yellow and green stripes.
We’re not sure if this new design is being rolled out across all R Whites products, as we’ve not really heard much about it, but we thought it worth a mention.
We mentioned these Salt and Vinegar Snackers in last weeks round up so we thought we’d share our ‘snackables’ idea with you.
Members of our Facebook group will hopefully have seen Kay’s amazing results on the scales this week!
If not, you can read all about it here.
In this article, Kay gives details of her food diary for the week, and explains how she often keeps her Healthy Extras for late night snacks like these Nairns Snackers to munch on while managing the Pinch Of Nom website.
This homemade ‘snackables’ platter idea includes Healthy Extra A cheese, lean ham (free), pickled onions and mini gherkins (Speed) and a bag of Nairns Snackers.
Tesco Satay dipping sauce
Nom Nom Nom! Chicken Satay. One of those naughty but nice dishes that we thought we’d have to give up when following the SW plan. Not so!!
So many of you have posted pictures in our Facebook group of your amazing results when making the delicious 1 Syn Chicken Satay!
We’ve recently discovered this Tesco Satay dipping sauce.
Whilst not quite as low in syns as our Pinch of Nom home-made Satay recipe, this sauce comes in at 1 Syn per tbsp, which really isn’t too bad at all!
Thanks to Wendy from our Facebook group for the tip!
Hellmann’s Ketchup sweetened with honey
Tomato ketchup is a cupboard staple in most (all?!) households around the UK.
Children enjoy it with virtually everything, apparently it’s the perfect condiment. (Although I have my doubts about some combinations!!). We were really pleased to discover this new product.
There have been so many articles in the news lately about trying to reduce how much sugar we consume.
Some sugars are well hidden, with foods containing a surprising amount that’s not always obvious.
Hellmann’s website tells us that their ketchup, made with natural ingredients, is only sweetened by honey and filled with even more tomatoes!
It has 36% more tomatoes than Heinz Standard Tomato Ketchup, it’s sweetened only with honey, made with sustainably grown tomatoes and has no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives.
All in all it has a lot going for it!
We even made a Half Syn Chicken Pad Thai using it.
Weight Watchers Wraps
We initially talked about these wraps way back in one of our January shopping essentials lists!
They have now been discontinued!!!
It seems there was a little miscommunication at Weight Watchers HQ. The Weight Watchers white wraps HAVE NOT been discontinued.
I repeat. They have NOT been discontinued.
You can also use the Bfree Wraps!
However, there has been a renewed interest in the over the last couple of weeks on our Facebook page. Why? Well, I’ll explain!
We love it when people in the group share their ideas with us. Sometimes these great ideas involve a recipe that somebody has come up with, and this is a case in point!
M & S Spirit of Summer 3 pack Macaroons
In the last few weeks, we’ve featured lots of items in our Shopping essentials from the Spirit of Summer range at Marks and Spencer.
I’ve got to confess that macaroons are a guilty pleasure of mine! Offering a delicious, chewy, meringue-like texture, with the delicate hint of French almonds.
These beauties come in three delicious summery flavours, 1 peach and apricot, 1 lemon and 1 cherry.
These macaroons are crunchy on the outside, with a fluffy, chewy centre.
Each macaroon is made up of two halves, sandwiched together with an equally seasonal jam filling to match. Apricot, Cherry and Lemon Curd.
They’re not on the database yet, but when we’ve put them through the Syns calculator they come out at 2.5 Syns each.
Please bear in mind this may change when it is given an official Syn Value.
Fox’s Cookie Minis Pouches
Well, now Fox’s have created a range of mini-cookies. Available from Tesco, these are on the Syns database at 0.5 Syns per cookie for the Dark Choc Chip variety.
Fox’s Chocolatey Minis
Also added to the biscuit aisle in Tesco, another mini cookie treat from Fox’s.
These are more indulgent, shortcake biscuits, fully covered in milk chocolate.
Unfortunately, more chocolate inevitably means more Syns, but these mini cookies are on the SW database at 1.5 Syns each, so they don’t break the bank.
We originally featured this in our shopping essentials list at the beginning of June.
It’s been in Asda stores since the 27th of May, but it’s now available in some Tesco stores, so hopefully will be easier to find!
It’s not cheap at £45 a bottle, but it’s slightly stronger than ‘house’ gin, at 43% abv, so well worth the extra pennies!
Gin is one of the drinks that is better for Syn values if you fancy a tipple. You can find our guide to Syn values in spirits here.
