Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 334,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!) one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.
This post contains affiliate links. Find out what this means.
Lidl Pick of The Week
If you read this Shopping Essentials list every week, you will know that we always like to bring you some Speed Food choices.
In last week’s list, we brought you Aldi’s weekly fruit and veg offers, so this week we thought we’d go to Lidl!
This week’s Pick of the Week from Lidl includes Grapefruits, Red Peppers, Aubergines and Celery.
Why not use the red peppers to make our Syn Free Red Pepper Hummus?
When you’ve made the Syn Free Red Pepper Hummus, you’ll need to make some vegetable sticks to dip in, so why not pick up the Lidl Pick of the Week Celery Sticks?
All of these are Speed Foods, and at the bargain price of 39p you will definitely be quids in.
Waitrose Fresh Cranberries
Cranberry sauce is one of those foods that has always been popular around Christmas time. In the weeks leading up to Christmas it is promoted on supermarket shelves as a perfect accompaniment to the traditional turkey.
Fresh cranberries can be used to make your own sauce to serve at the Christmas table, alongside our Syn Free Gravy.
We mentioned frozen cranberries in the Shopping Essentials round up a couple of weeks ago.
Cranberries are a Speed Food, so these fresh cranberries from Waitrose can be enjoyed as part of the Slimming World plan.
You could even pop a couple of fresh cranberries into a festive glass of fizz, or one of our 4 Syn Raspberry Vodka Fizz Cocktails!
Tesco Whole Wheat Pasta
Dried pasta and spaghetti products are Free on Slimming World. They’re also a great store cupboard ingredient to have on standby so that you can always rustle up a quick meal.
To help increase our fibre intake, we don’t just need to rely on Speed foods, or our Healthy B choices. Choosing Whole Wheat pasta can help to boost fibre intake even more.
Tesco have introduced new Whole Wheat pasta products to their pasta range, including Whole Wheat Spaghetti, Fusilli Pasta and Penne Pasta.
The Tesco Whole Wheat Pasta would be great in our Syn Free Pasta Bolognese Bake
The Spaghetti costs 56p for 500g, and the Fusilli and Penne pasta cost £1.00 each for a 1kg pack.
Cravendale Skimmed Milk 1 Litre
I started drinking skimmed milk long before I started Slimming World.
It came as a pleasant surprise to find out that I was allowed 350ml of skimmed milk on the Slimming World plan.
I love my coffee, so because I was already used to skimmed it meant I could have several mugs a day and not go over my allowance.
Cravendale skimmed milk is filtered, using ceramic filters to remove more of the bacteria that turns milk sour. This keeps Cravendale fresh for twice as long as standard fresh milk without additional heat treatment.
You really can taste the difference! Even once you’ve opened the bottle, it will stay fresh for 7 days.
Tesco Finest Sashimi-Style Smoked Salmon Slices
I adore smoked salmon. It’s one of those foods that can be very luxurious as a starter for a meal, or eaten as a brunch or quick lunch. Salmon is free and a P food with Slimming World
The Tesco Finest Sashimi-Style Scottish smoked salmon is thickly cut and at an angle, giving a firmer texture which melts in the mouth. It makes it great for dipping in the Japanese style dipping sauce for a fiery kick.
The soy, pickled ginger and wasabi sauce dipping sauce is supplied in the pack, making it easy to pop into a dipping pot to serve with the salmon.
This pack of Tesco Finest Sashimi-Style Scottish smoked salmon costs £13.50 for 6 servings.
Swedish Glace Soy Ice Cream
As you know, we like to try and bring you something different on the Shopping Essentials list, especially for those who need foods that meet certain dietary requirements.
This time we have a non-dairy frozen ice cream dessert. Swedish Glace is the perfect sweet treat for those who may be lactose or gluten intolerant.
It’s 5.5 Syns per 100ml on the Slimming World app.
This Dairy Free ice cream is available from Iceland, priced at £2.50 for 750ml.
Iceland 12 Ice Cream Chocolate Shots
Here are some delicious ice cream treats that are definitely not for children! These Iceland Ice Cream Chocolate Shots contain alcoholic liqueurs.
There are 3 flavours available;
Orange Liqueur Flavoured Chocolates:
Chocolate dairy ice cream with an orange liqueur flavoured white chocolate filling covered in milk chocolate with white chocolate stripes.
Irish Cream Flavour Chocolates:
Chocolate dairy ice cream with an Irish cream flavour white chocolate filling covered in milk chocolate with chocolate couverture stripes.
Amaretto Liqueur Flavour Chocolates:
Vanilla flavour dairy ice cream with an amaretto flavour liqueur white chocolate filling covered with white chocolate with chocolate couverture stripes.
You can find these in Iceland, priced at £3.00 for 12 Ice Cream Bites. Using the Syns calculator, these work out at 2.5 Syns each.
Volvic Touch of Fruit Sugar Free
Water is something we all need, in whichever form we choose to consume it. Not everyone is a fan of plain water, so sugar free flavoured water and squashes have become really popular.
It’s always worth double checking these drinks on the app, as some fruity waters are not free to drink, however innocuous they may look!
Volvic Touch of Fruit Sugar Free has been around in several flavours for a little while. Now Volvic are launching a new Sugar Free Watermelon flavour. It’s free on the Slimming World app.
It’s available from Tesco and other major supermarkets. The 1.5L bottle is priced at £1.00 in Tesco at the moment. It’s also going to be available in 500ml bottles, priced at around 80p. You’ll find it here, on the Tesco Website.
Boursin Trio Gourmand
One of the things I really miss is cheese. Obviously I can use a selection of cheeses as my Healthy Extra A choice, but the luxury of a proper, rich, full fat cheese is off the shopping list!
These Boursin Trio Gourmand cheeses would be a great way to deal with the yearning for soft cheese. Each pack contains 3 x 80g portions of Boursin, in three delicious flavours;
- Garlic & Herbs
- Figs & Nuts
- Shallot & Chive
Boursin with Fig and Nuts is 5.5 Syns per 25g on Syns Online and the Garlic and Herbs variety is 5 Syns per 25g.
Smirnoff Soda Drinks
We’re always on the look out for a different tipple, especially over the party season. We spotted two new flavours of this Smirnoff Soda that we thought you might like.
Blackberry and Yuzu Flavour
Smirnoff vodka, with the sweetness of blackberries and a sherbet twist from the lesser known Yuzu (You-zoo…a delicious Japanese citrus fruit). All that flavour packed into a light soda with no artificial flavours.
Coconut and Lime Flavour
The Smirnoff Soda drinks are also available in Coconut and Lime flavour. The creaminess of coconut balanced with juicy zest of lime in a delicious alcoholic soda
Smirnoff Soda is exclusive to Asda and costs £5.00 for a pack of 4 275ml bottles.
Lindt Little Figures
Lindt chocolate bears are a real favourite for adults and children alike.
If you have a look on the seasonal aisles at the moment, you’ll find these little folk waiting to jump into your trolley!
Christmas themed chocolate characters that come in a pack of 5.
You have a choice of little chocolate teddies, Santa’s little helpers, or Santa with 4 chocolate reindeer.
Each chocolate figure is 3 Syns on the Slimming World app. They would make smashing stocking fillers, either for you or the family!
Dr. Oetker Vanilla Extract
A flavouring labelled extract is a natural product, in this case made with real vanilla pods. You can also buy flavoured essences, but these are made from artificial chemicals rather than the natural extracts.
Dr Oetker is one of those names you see on products in the baking aisle all the time, even if you’re not sure how to pronounce it!
They’re synonymous with baking ingredients, from food colourings and flavourings to candles for birthday cakes and cupcake decorations.
Cadbury All I Want For Christmas Cake Selection

With careful planning, we can enjoy some of these Christmas treats, just as long as we remember to count the Syns up along the way!
How about rustling up some of our Low Syn Christmas Cakes if you fancy a Christmassy treat with your cuppa after a shopping trip.
We’ve found these Cadbury Christmas cakes in Tesco. Ideal for when friends pop in over the festive season to drop off a card or have a catch up over a cuppa.
