Over in our Facebook group (where we now have over 207,000 members 😱 it keeps going up each week!), one of the hot topics of each week is spotting new products that are Slimming World friendly!
Not all of you are in our Facebook group (you should be!), so I thought I’d add it to the website as a weekly feature.

This week we’ve got lots of new products that are perfect for the weather warming up, and Summer rolling in ☀️ Drinks, gin, sausages, new Philadelphia and MORE!
TenderStem Broccoli – Speed Food
Here’s an interesting fact for you…… TenderStem Broccoli originated in Japan a very long time ago, by crossing regular broccoli with Chinese Kale.
Nowadays, TenderStem Broccoli is grown worldwide and therefore available all year round, but, at this time of year the British crops are just about ready.
The season runs from June to November so if you’ve not tried it yet you still have plenty of time. TenderStem Broccoli is so easy to cook with, but at the same time it’s so easy to ruin by overcooking!
As it’s name suggests this vegetable is so tender it only requires minimal cooking.
Either stir fry it, steam it or boil it, but remember 2 or 3 minutes and it’s done to perfection!
It’s great on its own or as part of a meal, and of course it’s a speed veg and packed with vitamin C.
Our friends over at Protein Food Shop have TenderStem Broccoli too! If you buy your meat online you really should check them out. they are FAR superior to Musclefood in our opinion!
British TenderStem Broccoli will be available in all major supermarkets and your local greengrocer, but do check the label for the country of origin as there are lots of other countries that produce this a versatile veg.
Podding Peas – Free Food & P
Another veg currently in season here in the UK are peas.
You can’t beat a pea popped straight from the pod. Just pop them out of the pod and throw them in a salad, or cook them for a few minutes until they’re tender and serve along side your favourite meal.
Don’t forget peas aren’t speed, but they are free and a P food.
Most supermarkets will stock them at some point during the Summer months, but Asda, Ocado and Morrisons are currently the only ones stocking them.
Why not try them in our Low Syn Creamy Pasta with Bacon, Peas and Mushrooms?
Asda Extra Special Apple Balsamic Vinegar Infused Beetroot
Free using calculator (and confirmed by the Syns Hotline) these Apple Balsamic Vinegar Infused Beetroots are a great addition to any salad.
They’re not on the database yet, but running it through the Syns calculator (and confirming with the Syns Hotline) they’re free….and they’re speed too!
Asda Hot & Spicy Beetroot
First things first….This Hot & Spicy Beetroot has a 3 chilli rating, which means it’s hot, so if you’re not a fan of spicy things then this may not be for you!
We gobbled a pot of this between us yesterday, and I found it pretty spicy, but not overwhelmingly so.
This isn’t on the SW database yet, but it works out at 2.5 Syns for the whole tub when you run it through the calculator, but remember this may change if and when it is given an official Syn value.
Quaker Oat Muesli – New HEB
These wholegrain Oat Muesli from Quaker have just been added to the Healthy Extra B options.
They come in 3 different varieties;
- Date & Coconut
- Nut & Seeds
You can have 40g for your HEB.
Quaker Oat Muesli is made of high quality oats combined with rye, dates, almonds & raisins, and it’s free-from any artificial flavours or preservatives, and contains no added sugars.
They come in 650g packs, they’re available in pretty much all the major supermarkets (although some may not carry the whole range) and they’ll cost you £2 to £3 depending on who has the best offers on.
Ryvita Thins – 3 Cheese Flatbreads
Ryvita are adding a new flavour to their Thins range next month.
Three Cheese flavour will join the existing flavours of Multi-Seed, Cheddar & Cracked Black Pepper, Sweet Chilli, Caramelised Onion, and Sun-dried Tomato & Herb.
As they’re not due out until July we don’t have any nutritional info yet, but it looks like they’ll be around 1.5 Syns each.
New Topless Frylight Bottles – Syn Free
The new topless Frylight bottles are here, and did you know that they’ll save over 120 tonnes of plastic waste per year? Wow!
The new Frylight bottles are available in supermarkets now, including the new full sized Garlic Oil! Find out more on the Frylight website.
#SausageGate The Second Coming!
Another week, another new sausage ‘drama’!
Most of you will be aware of the furore surrounding the Porky Lights Syn declassification, and as a result Slimming World have been looking closely at the way that they work out the Syns in sausages.
Due to the varying fat content, and additives such as flour, Slimming World have looked again at sausages, and as a result some Syn values have changed.
The big surprise is the M&S Skinny Sausages moving to 1 Syn each! In our opinion they are one of the best Slimming World friendly sausages out there, so an extra half a Syn is not bad at all.
Some sausage have also been added. Asda’s Extra Special Light & Lean are now confirmed as 0.5 Syns each, after being on the shelves for a couple of months.
Another new addition are the Good Little Sausage Company – Skinny Sausages which are also 0.5 Syns each.
If you’re wondering what they’re like you should go check out our review of them!
Asda 50% Less Fat Garlic & Herb Soft Cheese
This Garlic & Herb Soft Cheese is a medium fat soft cheese, with parsley, garlic and basil, and it comes in a handy squeezy bottle.
This is already on the database at 2 Syns per 25g. This is £1.00 for a 175g bottle.
ASDA 50% Less Fat Original Soft Cheese
Another medium fat soft cheese in a squeezy bottle.
Like the garlic & herb version, the 50% Less Fat Original Soft Cheese is on the database at 2 Syns per 25g.
Great for squeezing on to a sandwich or into a jacket potato. As with the garlic & herb one, it is £1.00 for a 175g bottle.
ASDA Caffè Latte Classic Flavour
If you’re a fan of frappés then this Caffè Latte from Asda might be right up your street.
It comes in a 330ml bottle, and at 9 Syns for the whole lot it’s not too bad when you compare it to the high street coffee shop versions.
As well as the Classic Flavour, Asda have also brought out a Caffè Latte Caramel (8 Syns using the calculator) Flavour and a Caffè Latte Mocha Flavour (worked out at 9 Syns).
We must point out that these aren’t on the SW database yet, so we’ve worked out the Syns using the online calculator.
This means that the Syn values may be different if and when they are given an official Syn value.
Asda Cherry Bakewell Flavour Milk – 10 Syns per bottle
You know when you spot a product on the shelf, look at the nutritional information and think that it might be Slimming World friendly, yet isn’t? This is one to be aware of.
Although this cherry bakewell flavour milk is made with 1% fat milk, it does work out quite high in Syns at 10 per 330ml bottle (using the online calculator).
Having said that it is less Syns per bottle than the Frijj Zero added Sugar range we featured a few weeks ago so it might be a reasonable alternative.
Nando’s Piri Piri Sauces
The Nando’s Piri Piri sauces have been given a new look Ooooooooo!
There’s nothing I like more than a bit of hot sauce to spice up my meals. We get through bottles and bottles of the stuff.
Nando’s have given their bottles a fresh new look, and they’re really rather nice.
We’ve been told that the recipe hasn’t changed, so the Syns should remain the same.
- Nandos Extra Extra Hot Peri-Peri Sauce – 0.5 Syns per tbsp
- Nandos Extra Hot Peri-Peri Sauce – 0.5 Syns per tbsp
- Nandos Wild Herb Peri-Peri Sauce – 0.5 Syns per tbsp
- Nandos Lemon & Herb Peri-Peri Sauce – 0.5 Syns per tbsp
- Nandos Mango & Lime Peri-Peri Sauce – 1 Syn per tbsp
- Nandos Medium Peri-Peri Sauce – 0.5 Syns per tbsp
- Nandos Mild Peri-Peri Sauce – 0.5 Syns per tbsp
- Nandos Hot Peri-Peri Sauce – 0.5 Syns per tbsp
- Nandos Garlic Peri-Peri Sauce – 0.5 Syns per tbsp
If you’re a fan of Nando’s, you really should check out our Syn Free Nando’s Spicy rice recipe – it is SO close in flavour.
It’s been very popular in our Facebook Group too!
Soreen Disney Chocolate Mini Loaves
These Soreen Disney Chocolate Mini Loaves have 60% less fat and 50% less sugar compared to other standard cake bars, so they’re great if you’re looking for a healthier option.
Each bar is an individually wrapped, squidgy, chocolate and malt cake bar.
They’re not on the SW database yet, but work out at 5 Syns per bar on the Snackulator. As always this may be different if and when they are given an official Syn value.
If you’re not a fan of chocolate(!) they have also brought out Disney Toffee Mini Loaves, which also work out at 5 Syns each.
Or you could try the Soreen Banana Malt Loaf Lunchbox Loaves for 4.5 Syns each (confirmed on the database).
You can pick the Disney Mini Loaves up from Selected Asda and Sainsbury’s for around £1.35 to £1.45 and the Banana Lunchbox Loaves from most major supermarkets for a similar price.
MYHK Ready Meals
We reviewed these My Healthy Kitchen meals on the site yesterday, and I have to say they’re not bad at all if you’re looking for a quick and easy meal.
The three that we tried were;
- Moroccan Prawn – 3 Syns
- Oriental Chicken – 8 Syns
- Roasted Mediterranean Vegetable Risotto – 3 Syns
You can read what we thought of them in the review, but Syns wise they’re not bad at all and aren’t overly spiced like some ready meals out there.
Asda Bakers Selection Wholemeal Crumpets
Ok, Ok I will ruin your day. Despite some rumours on Facebook these do not count as your Healthy B option!
These are already on the SW database at 4.5 Syns each, which is just half a Syn less than their regular white counterpart.
They come in packs of 6 for £1.
New York Bakery Co Bagel Thins
New York Bakery Co have recenty relaunched their Bagel Thins range. There are 2 varieties;
New York Bakery Co 4 Pre-sliced Original Bagel Thins
These work out at 6 Syns each using the calculator. They have the same authentic Bagel taste – only thinner (surprise, surprise!).
They’re less than 130 calories per bagel, low in Fat and they’re free from artificial colours and flavours.
They’re also suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans.
New York Bakery Co Pre-sliced Cinnamon & Raisin Bagel Thins
These work out at 6.5 Syns each, which is slightly higher than the Original Bagel Thins.
As with the Originals they’re less than 130 calories per bagel, low in Fat and they’re free from artificial colours and flavours.
They’re also suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans.
Asda Oak Smoked Burnt Ends
We’ve featured these last week, and I thought I’d update you about what people think of them.
I tried them this week and I’m not impressed at all. There’s certainly nothing smoked or burnt about them.
You also get less than 10 chunks in a pack – which is pretty dire. These are one to AVOID, or at least sneak a look inside the box and judge if you want to pay for the paltry amount you’ll find in there.
Whilst you’re in Asda, keep an eye out for these other Slimming World friendly BBQ meats!
These Indian Spiced Citrus Chicken skewers are pretty damn nice. There’s also Chicken Tikka Kebabs too.
If you don’t fancy buying pre-made kebabs, you could always make our Syn Free Chicken Souvlaki Kebabs!
UPDATE – Philadelphia Greek Style
We covered this brand new Philly last week, and the Slimming World gods have added it to the database!
It’s been confirmed at 1.5 Syns per 25g, which is pretty good.
It’s actually a blend of 50% cream cheese and 50% yogurt. It’s a little tangier than regular Philly, but I have to say I much prefer it.
Still no news if it’s going to be included as a Healthy Extra A choice… yet – but we’ll let you know as soon as we have any news!
I can see this working very well in our Low Syn Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries!
Iceland Vienna’s – BACK IN STOCK
We featured these a few months back, and they were pretty damn popular. Some would say perhaps a little too popular.
Iceland’s stock soon dwindled, and Slimming World Facebook groups were full of rumours that these had been discontinued 😱!
Panic not, these Iceland Vienna’s are BACK. It turns out that Iceland had a little issue with the supplier, and they’re now reappearing in Iceland stores up and down the country.
You will have to be quick though, as these will be a very popular treat this summer, and at just 3 Syns they’re a bargain.
We don’t often feature non food items, but I feel that this Tefal OptiGrill deserves a mention.
We were sent one of these by Tefal this week, and I have to say we have been pretty damn impressed. This is not something that happens often at all – we are difficult people to please!
It’s similar in form to a certain other brand of grill, but the OptiGrill is far smarter. Get this – it measured the thickness of your meat, and grills it according to how you want it cooked.
Maryland Cookie Thins are COMING!
Following the launch of McVities Digestive Thins a while back, Maryland are continuing the trend and bringing us their lighter snacking option. Yes, we’re getting Maryland Thins!
They will be available in 2 varieties;
- Milk & Dark Choc Chip
- Salted Caramel
The thins will be 20% thinner than a regular Maryland cookie, and if the digestive ones are anything to go by they will be quite popular when they are launched later this month.
We don’t have any nutritional info yet (but we’ll update this as soon as we do!), nor do we have a full distribution list, but we can tell you that they will be available in Asda and Co-op.
