These pretty Lace Pancakes are so easy to make, but look really impressive – they make a great Low Syn, Low Point and Low Calorie treat!
For the full list of ingredients and comprehensive instructions, please see the recipe card at the end of this post. Before you scroll, there’s important stuff in the blurb 👍
These Lace Pancakes were inspired by a round on The Great British Bake Off – who says you can’t bake whilst sticking to your weight loss plan?
The traditional lace pancake recipe isn’t very Slimming World, Weight Watchers or Calorie counting friendly as it contains flour, milk and melted butter. We’ve made a few changes and think the end result is pretty good.
If you like pancakes, why not try our Banana and Chocolate Pancakes? Soooooo tasty!!
How many Syns are in these Lace Pancakes?
First, let’s clear something up before we get to the recipe for these Lace Pancakes. This recipe uses porridge oats that have been blitzed in a food processor.
There has been many a debate on Facebook as to whether oats that have been ground down, are Synned or still carry their free food status.
As always, we like to pass on the most up to date information we can, so we contacted Slimming World Head Office directly to settle this debate. Might as well hear it straight from the horses mouth, right?
Now for the good news!
We were told that you do not need to Syn the ground oats, as blitzing them does not alter the nutritional value. Also you are using them as your HEB so the amount you can eat is restricted so there’s very little chance of you over eating them.
Having said that, as with anything that could be considered a possible tweak, if you eat these Lace Pancakes often and it affects your weight loss, then you should stop using the oats in this way.
These Lace Pancakes are just 1 Syn each! You could you part of one of your Heathy Extra A allowances for the skimmed milk, but we think it’s easier to just Syn the milk and save your Healthy Extra A’s for something else!
Synning the sweetener
As you will probably know Slimming World have changed their recommendations regarding the Syn value of granulated sweeteners. Slimming World have confirmed what this change means.
Where there is 1 tbsp or more being used per serving they recommend members count 0.5 Syn per tbsp. If using smaller amounts, like a pinch or teaspoon, there’s no need to worry about Syns at all.
The recipe for these Lace Pancakes uses 3 quarters of a tablespoon of sweetener and the recipe makes 1 portion, so there’s no need to add any Syns on for the sweetener itself.
These Lace Pancakes work well with just a simple squeeze of lemon, but they’d also be great with some fresh fruit. Why not try something from our Slimming World Speed Food List?
How Weight Watchers friendly is this Lace Pancakes recipe?
If you think pancakes are off the menu whilst following Weight Watchers, then think again!

How many Calories are in these Lace Pancakes?
These Lace Pancakes are a great dessert, breakfast or even a between-meal snack!
Our Lace Pancakes are less than 300 calories per portion – you can serve them with whatever you like, just remember to add the calories of whatever you decide to have.
What do I need to make these Lace Pancakes?
You can pick one up for a few pounds on Amazon.
What is Sukrin?
Sukrin 1 is an all natural sugar alternative that doesn’t have that nasty artificial taste that other artificial sweeteners do. If you haven’t tried it yet you really should! You can buy it from Amazon.
If you are using a powdered sweetener, then please check how it compares to sugar. In some cases you’ll need to use less, as powdered sweeteners weigh less.
That being said you don’t have to use Sukrin – there are lots of other high quality granulated sweeteners available from the supermarket, such as Canderel Sugarly, and Natvia.
How do I make these Lace Pancakes?
Blitz the oats in a food processor, until they are very fine
Mix all the ingredients together and stir until smooth
Pour the mixture into a plastic squeezy sauce bottle
Pre heat non stick frying pan, and spray it with a decent amount of Low Calorie Cooking Spray
Gently squeeze the batter into the pan, creating a freehand lace pattern. You can do whatever shape you like. We made heart shapes
Cook the pancakes until the underside is golden. This should take around 2 minutes
Flip the pancake over and cook the other side until golden. Repeat until you’ve used up all the batter mix.
Serve with your choice of accompaniment!
