For the full list of ingredients and comprehensive instructions, please see the recipe card at the end of this post. Before you scroll, there’s important stuff in the blurb 👍

These Lace Pancakes were inspired by a round on The Great British Bake Off – who says you can’t bake whilst sticking to your weight loss plan?

The traditional lace pancake recipe isn’t very Slimming World, Weight Watchers or Calorie counting friendly as it contains flour, milk and melted butter. We’ve made a few changes and think the end result is pretty good.

How many Syns are in these Lace Pancakes?

These Lace Pancakes are just 1 Syn each! You could you part of one of your Heathy Extra A allowances for the skimmed milk, but we think it’s easier to just Syn the milk and save your Healthy Extra A’s for something else!

Synning the sweetener

As you will probably know Slimming World have changed their recommendations regarding the Syn value of granulated sweeteners. Slimming World have confirmed what this change means.

Where there is 1 tbsp or more being used per serving they recommend members count 0.5 Syn per tbsp. If using smaller amounts, like a pinch or teaspoon, there’s no need to worry about Syns at all.

The recipe for these Lace Pancakes uses 3 quarters of a tablespoon of sweetener and the recipe makes 1 portion, so there’s no need to add any Syns on for the sweetener itself.

These Lace Pancakes work well with just a simple squeeze of lemon, but they’d also be great with some fresh fruit. Why not try something from our Slimming World Speed Food List?

Why have you changed from blitzed oats to Ready Brek?

Slimming World are forever reviewing ingredients and recipes. Although the Healthy Extra B is a measured amount, they have stated that the purpose of oats as a Healthy Extra B is that they expand and are filling on consumption.

As Ready Brek is being used in its original form and is again a measured amount for your Healthy Extra B, there’s no chance of it being used incorrectly in this recipe.

We also happen to think the texture of the pancakes is much better when using Ready Brek!

These Lace Pancakes are a great dessert, breakfast or even a between-meal snack!

Our Lace Pancakes are less than 300 calories per portion – you can serve them with whatever you like, just remember to add the calories of whatever you decide to have.

You can pick one up for a few pounds on Amazon.

You’ll also need a good quality, non-stick frying pan like this one from Amazon. You can also pick them up in most large supermarkets.

What is Sukrin?

Sukrin 1 is an all natural sugar alternative that doesn’t have that nasty artificial taste that other artificial sweeteners do. If you haven’t tried it yet you really should! You can buy it from Amazon.

If you are using a powdered sweetener, then please check how it compares to sugar. In some cases you’ll need to use less, as powdered sweeteners weigh less.

That being said you don’t have to use Sukrin – there are lots of other high quality granulated sweeteners available from the supermarket, such as Canderel Sugarly, and Natvia.

    1. Hi Lauren
You can use any plain porridge oats, whether you choose a budget own make or a named brand is entirely up to you. You could also use 40g Ready Brek, as that’s now been added to the database as a Healthy B choice, too. (It’ll save you blitzing the oats yourself!)
