We love a good Fakeaway – it really curbs the temptation to eat all the calorie and fat filled Takeaway versions. And with recipes as good as this, it’s even better than the real thing!

Now, this Fakeaway Chicken in Black Pepper Sauce has a bit of a kick to it, so if you don’t want it too peppery just use 1/2 a teaspoon of ground black pepper rather than the full teaspoon.

We love to serve ours on a bed of noodles.

One thing you will notice about all of our Fakeaway recipes is this…..we like to add as many vegetables to the dish as possible.

For this Fakeaway Chicken in Black Pepper Sauce, baby corn, courgette and sugar snap peas are ideal.

Along with the spring onions, peppers and mushrooms give you a huge helping of your five a day. You can of course use what ever veg you want.

  1. Heat up a wok or decent sized frying pan, and spray with Low calorie cooking spray
  2. Add the chicken, spring onion, peppers, mushrooms, garlic and ginger and cook until they start to brown
  3. Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, orange and lime juice, black pepper and stir
  4. Mix in the remaining veg, reserving a small handful of spring onions for garnishing
  5. Pour in the stock and stir well and allow to simmer on a high heat until the sauce reduces and thickens
  6. Check the chicken is cooked. Serve sprinkled with the reserved spring onion

  1. Excellent recipe very tasty but next time I will only use 1/2 teaspoon black pepper as a whole teaspoon made it over peppery & too hot. Otherwise lovely x

      Glad you liked it. The amount of pepper is a personal choice I think, which is why we state 1/2 to 1 tsp in the recipe.

      Yes, you could use chicken stock instead. It shouldn’t affect the flavour too much, but it may not be quite as rich

    Chicken in black pepper sauce is my fav & I have been missing it since joining SW.

  3. Hi I have a seafood / shellfish allergy so cannot use Oyster Sauce, what would you suggest as an alternative. I generally use Soy Sauce but that’s already one of the ingredients Thanks
