For the full list of ingredients and comprehensive instructions, please see the recipe card at the end of this post. Before you scroll, there’s important stuff in the blurb 👍

The kids will love them, and they’re so easy they can even help make them.

We use olives for the eyes of these Scary Spider Sandwiches, but you can use whatever you like to decorate them – just remember to check the nutritional values of whatever you choose to use!

We’ve used egg as a filling for these Scary Spider Sandwiches, but you can use whatever filling you want, just remember to add count the Points or calories of whatever you use.

Another thing to mention is the Red Peppers from a jar. We like to use Lidl Freshona Roasted Red Peppers in Sweetened Vinegar. Whichever brand you decide to use make sure they are in sweet vinegar or brine, not in oil. We don’t want to be adding any extra Points or calories now do we?

  1. Boil the eggs for about 11 minutes, or until they are hard. Remove the eggs from the pan and plunge them into a bowl of icy water until they are cool
  2. Peel the eggs and place them in a food processor along with the Quark, white wine vinegar, mustard powder and a bit of salt and pepper. Blitz for a few seconds until the eggs are finely chopped and blended well
  3. Cut 12 slices from the olives. Then cut 12 small triangles (for the fangs) and 12 small cubes (for the eyes) from the pepper
  4. Lay 6 of the bread discs down, then spread some of the egg mix on each one
  5. Arrange the carrot strips on 3 of the discs to make legs, then do the same on the remaining discs with the chives
  6. Place 2 'fangs' at the front of each disc to resemble teeth (a cocktail stick is good for doing this)
  7. Top with the remaining discs of bread
  8. Take each slice of olive and spread a tiny bit if the egg mixture on one side, then press 2 of them onto the top of each sandwich above the fangs
  9. Using a cocktail stick pick up each small cube of pepper and place it in the centre of each olive slice
