Is there something else I can use for the wash instead of egg? My youngest can’t have egg as when he does it makes him itch due to him having eczema. Egg irritates his dry skin so bad.

Hey Michaela, you could swap the egg wash for milk or a dairy free alternative to milk such as almond or coconut. Hope that helps!

Hi love these. Are you meant to cook both sides

Reply

    SharonThursday 16th July 2020

Hi Tracy, there’s no need to cook both sides of the calzone in this recipe. Just place it on a baking tray and cook in the oven, both sides will cook. Hope this helps and that you enjoy making this recipe.

Hi 🙂 are these OK to eat cold?

I drive for my job and don’t have access to a microwave and really struggle for lunches!

Thanks 🙂

On the outside, do you egg wash both sides of this or just the top (and inside bits of course)?
Thanks x

Hi love your recipe for Capone, but do you have one for Salmon and broccoli? I have seen from pasty recipes but dread to think what the sun value would be. Many thanks

Could you use tomato puree instead for the base?

Hi Lynn,

So glad you enjoyed it!

Flavour etc was fine, but absolutely impossible to ‘crimp’ wraps – whatever make you use. So the filling spilled out, and the edges became burnt and inedible. Shame, recipe had real promise!
And yes, I did try more than one brand of wrap, and yes, I did try with less filling-made no difference – you just can’t crimp wraps.

    Hi Amanda,

You need to use plenty of egg wash and really push the edges together before putting in the oven ????
