It’s that time of the week once more where we bring you our Slimming World Shopping Essentials Top Pick. This week we’ve chosen Morrisons wonky vegetable selection box as our pick of the week.
Shopping Essentials Top Picks provides you with even more information about a product that we’ve included in our very popular Slimming World Shopping Essentials list, published every Friday.
Haven’t I Seen Wonky Vegetable Boxes Before?
More than likely! The big supermarkets have been slowly introducing wonky vegetable packs over the last couple of years in a bid to curve the horrendous wastage of vegetables that don’t quite ‘look right’
The public outcry of those not caring whether their carrots aren’t that straight has only boosted the support for these selection boxes, with Asda selling out as soon as they hit the shelves when they first launched. Now Morrisons are having a go!
What’s In A Morrisons Wonky Vegetable Selection Box?
A Morrisons wonky vegetable selection box includes 3 Wonky Parsnips, 1 Wonky Cabbage, 2 Wonky Leeks, 8 Wonky Potatoes, 4 Wonky Carrots, 4 Wonky Onions and 1 Wonky Swede. Lots of Slimming World Speed food!
At first glance, it might not seem like an awful lot in terms of quantity, but the size of the veg might make up for it. Who doesn’t want a leek the size of a sofa?
Morrisons have been selling wonky veg in packets for a while now, but this is the first time they’ve sold a selection box, meaning you can also cut down on packaging and mix your veg up at the same time!
What’s important to remember about these boxes is that the vegetables would have once been thrown away or used as scraps for animal feed, so putting these perfectly edible vegetables to good use is a huge selling point to many.
How Much Does A Morrisons Wonky Vegetable Selection Box Cost?
A Morrisons wonky vegetable selection box will set you back £3. For that you get all the veg and an exciting crate that looks like wood, but is in fact recyclable card board. Imagine the fun you can have with it…
The cost of the individual wonky vegetables packs vary, but will still provide your dose of speed!
Can’t You Buy The Veg Separately, Cheaper?
Erm, yeah you can. A slight stumbling block of these wonky veg boxes is the fact that budget supermarkets have actually been following the logic of ‘not quite as desirable vegetables’ for years, and thus already offer cheaper alternatives.
For example, this week Lidl are offering 250g packs of mushrooms and 135g of baby corn for just 69p each. Supermarket favourite Aldi also offers packs of vegetables for a very reasonable price in their price promotions.
In fact, all the supermarkets have different varieties of vegetables on offer at any one time, so it’s worth checking out those deals to see if you can find a higher quantity of veg for a cheaper price.
But, as previously mentioned, if you’re attracted by the prospect of helping to curve needless food wastage and have some surprisingly shaped vegetables (and the cardboard crate) then look no further than a Morrisons wonky vegetable selection box.
And, you can always pick up the individual packs of wonky fruit and veg if you want more of a particular item – more speed!
