You can get all of the ingredients for this recipe in the supermarket!

We usually use a natural, granulated sweetener which weighs the same as sugar, and tastes really good! They tend to cost a little more than the powdered type, lightweight sweetener, but because it’s a like-for-like weight with sugar you don’t need as much!

These Churros taste as good as the deep fried version and the granulated sweetener coating works an absolute treat – there really is no replacing it in this recipe as you must have the sugary crunch to the outside which you just won’t get with a powdered sweetener.

How do you know when your Churros are cooked?

Bake these Churros for approximately 40-50 minutes or until risen, golden brown and crisp.

Standard advice here in the UK is to cook food until it has reached 70°C and stayed at that temperature for 2 minutes. This is to keep your family safe.

Once you’ve put them out, ideally you should eat them within 4 hours.

If you want to keep any leftovers then pop them in an airtight container and eat within 2 days.

Can I freeze Churros?

Yes you can! This recipe can be frozen before you add the cinnamon sugar coating, but please remember to do the following;

  • Freeze it as soon as it is cold enough.
  • Use a container or bag that is suitable for freezing.

Don’t forget to add a label with what it is, and on what date you put it in the freezer!

How do I reheat Churros?

From chilled: Place on a baking tray then put into a hot oven for 10 minutes to crisp up, then spray with low calorie cooking spray and toss in the cinnamon sugar coating.

From frozen: Allow to defrost, then as above.
