These Rice Krispie Christmas Puds are the perfect Christmas party canapé treat and are great if you’re counting calories or following a plan like Weight Watchers.
It’s important when you’re making these to let them set before you try shaping them into balls, otherwise you’ll end up in a sticky, chocolate mess – just like we did the first time we made this recipe!
You can decorate these Rice Krispie Christmas Puds however you like. We’ve used berry coloured sugar balls and some tiny herb leaves, but you can also buy ready-made edible holly leaves which would look really pretty too!

Halve the Mars Bars and put into a microwaveable bowl with the reduced fat spread. Microwave in short bursts until melted.

Onto a tray place 30 small heaps of the mixture. Place in the fridge for around 15 minutes until it has firmed up. Shape into balls.
Step 4
Melt the white chocolate and drizzle a little over each ball. Decorate with sugar balls and herb leaves, or some ready made edible holly decorations to make them look like Christmas Puddings!

How do you know when these Rice Krispie Christmas Puds are ready?
You’ll need to heat the Mars Bars and reduced fat margarine spread until melted.
Once you’ve combined the melted chocolate with the Rice Krispies, you’ll need to pop the mix in the fridge for around 15 minutes until it has firmed up.
Standard advice here in the UK is to cook food until it has reached 70°C and stayed at that temperature for 2 minutes. This is to keep your family safe.
Can you make these Rice Krispie Christmas Puds any other way?
If you don’t have a microwave then you could always melt the Mars Bars and chocolate by placing them in a heat proof bowl and putting the bowl over a saucepan of boiling water (make sure that the water doesn’t touch the bottom of the bowl!).
