These Roasted Potatoes with Smoked Bacon are a tasty twist on a classic side dish and combine crispy potatoes with smokey paprika and salty bacon.

It makes a fantastic change to normal roast potatoes when served alongside your Sunday roast dinner and also works really well as an accompaniment when served alongside pretty much any dish. Fancy a lighter meal? Simply serve on its own with a crisp mixed salad!

All you’ll need to make these Roasted Potatoes with Smoked Bacon taste absolutely delicious is some really simple store cupboard staples, which means that you can whip it up really quickly on those days that you just don’t fancy chips or mash.

Although we’ve used smoked bacon medallions in this recipe, you can still enjoy this really tasty side dish if you’re vegetarian or vegan! Simply swap the bacon out for a veggie substitute or omit it completely for vegan diets. Even without the bacon medallions, the combo of crispy paprika potatoes and sliced onions still makes a fantastic side dish!

Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Add the potatoes to a large saucepan with enough cold water to cover. Bring to the boil and then simmer on a medium heat for 15-20 minutes until tender. Drain and allow to air dry for a few minutes.

In a large mixing bowl, add 1/2 tsp of the paprika and the black pepper, then add the potatoes and mix well.

Spray a baking tray with low calorie cooking spray and arrange the potatoes in a single layer, cook in the oven for 20-25 minutes until crispy.

Step 5

5 minutes before the potatoes are ready, spray a frying pan with low calorie cooking spray and then fry the bacon and onions for 5 minutes until golden.

Add the remainder of the paprika to the bacon and onions and then add your potatoes. Mix well, season to taste and serve with some chopped parsley to garnish.

You’ll need to fry your bacon and onions until they’re golden which should take around 5 minutes.

The potatoes will need to be cooked for around 20 – 25 minutes or until they’re crispy.

We’ve roasted our potatoes in the oven, but you could also cook them in the Actifry from raw for around 30 – 40 minutes if you’d prefer.

Once you’ve put it out, ideally you should eat it within 4 hours.

If you allow any leftovers to cool, make sure to refrigerate in a container with a lid and chill.  You can keep leftovers of Roasted Potatoes with Smoked Bacon in the fridge for approximately 3 days or so.

Yes you can! This recipe can be frozen, but please remember to do the following;

  • Freeze it as soon as it is cold enough.
  • Use a container or bag that is suitable for freezing.

From chilled: Cover in tin foil and reheat in the oven at 200°C for 10 – 15 minutes or until piping hot.

  • 465 g potatoes washed and cut into quarters
  • 5 smoked bacon medallions cut into strips
  • 1 white onion thinly sliced
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • salt to taste
  • low calorie cooking spray
  • (optional) handful of chopped parsley or rosemary to garnish

With air fryers and pressure cookers becoming more popular, or gadgets which do both ( I have a ninja foodi max multi cooker) is it likely you’ll bring out a book with those recipes? I know some of the recipes in your books and on the website tell you how to do those in electric multi cookers, but there aren’t that many! Thanks
