Caramelised Onion Hummus

Ingredients

  • 1 tin Butter Beans you can use chickpeas, but we prefer butter beans
  • 5 sprays Frylight Cooking Spray
  • 1 Red Onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Granulated Sweetener you may need to use less depending on the sweetener used
  • 2 Garlic Cloves crushed
  • 1 tsp Salt you can add more later if you wish
  • 1 Lemon juiced

Instructions

  1. Spray a frying pan with some low calorie cooking spray and cook the onions over a high heat
  2. When the onion starts to brown add the balsamic vinegar and sweetener, then cook for 5 minutes or until the onion is soft
  3. Empty the contents into a food processor and then add all the other ingredients
  4. Pulse on high for 30 seconds. Scrape down the sides of the bowl then repeat until you get the consistency you prefer
  5. Add more salt and a little pepper if necessary and serve
