Apple Pie Porridge

  • 80 g rolled porridge oats
  • 550 ml oat milk
  • 2 medium red eating apples skins left on and coarsely grated
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the top

  • 9 thin slices of red eating apple skin left on
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 tbsp flaked almonds
  • low calorie cooking spray


  1. Place the oats, oat milk, grated apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey and vanilla extract in a medium saucepan and stir well.

  2. Place over a medium heat and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer gently for 6–7 minutes, stirring until thickened and the oats have softened.

For the top

  1. Spray a small frying pan with low calorie cooking spray and place over a medium heat. Add the apple slices and flaked almonds and cook for 1–2 minutes on all sides, until golden and the apples are slightly tender. Stir in the honey to glaze the apple slices and flaked almonds.

  2. Place the porridge in 3 bowls and place 3 slices of glazed apple, with a few almonds, on top of each. Serve at once, alone or with an accompaniment of your choice.
