Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 375 ml red wine (about half a bottle)
  • 375 ml slimline ginger ale
  • 2 clementines sliced
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tbsp granulated sweetener or sugar if preferred
  • 2 tbsp amaretto or other liqueur of your choice

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients except the amaretto into a saucepan and over a medium heat, bring to a very gentle simmer.

  2. Turn the heat down to low, cover and allow to simmer gently for 15 minutes.

  3. After 15 minutes, stir in the amaretto.

  4. Serve in mugs or Irish coffee glasses, with some extra fruit and cinnamon sticks for garnish if you wish.
