Moroccan-Style Soup
A well-stocked store cupboard will come in really useful for this filling, fragrant soup. Adding tinned tomatoes, chickpeas, lentils and some basmati rice into our mildly- spiced broth helps keep costs down, while making sure you’ll feel nice and satisfied when you get to the bottom of your bowlful. Aromatic spices like cumin, ginger, turmeric and cayenne pepper give this dish a North African-style warming flavour, and you won’t want to miss out the fresh herbs and squeeze of lemon added right before serving.

This soup is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, but if you are a meat eater you could try adding some meat of your choice.
This soup has a mild, warming heat. If you would like it hotter, just add a little more cayenne pepper.
Make sure to use good-quality tinned chopped tomatoes to give the soup a good flavour. Some cheaper brands can be a bit acidic.
