There are often questions to our Facebook group for recipes that fit the Slimming World plan on a budget, so we’ve decided to put some of our best money saving recipes together here.
Top Slimming World Budget Recipes
We already have our On a Budget 7 Day Meal Plans on the website, which are a great place to get some inspiration for weekly meal plans.
Everyone looks for ways to cut the cost of their weekly shopping bill and thrifty meal ideas.
Buying fruit and vegetables that are in season is an economical way to get your speed foods in.
You can also buy frozen fruits and vegetables. As long as they haven’t had anything else added to them, they are still free or speed foods. (It’s worth checking the ingredients list to double check for added oil.)
Syn Free Campfire stew
The first dish for our Top Slimming World Budget Recipes is a classic!
This Syn Free Campfire Stew recipe has always been popular, even more so since we updated and improved the recipe last year!
You can pick up a piece of gammon for just a few pounds, combined with the vegetables and canned beans it goes a long way, so it’s great value for money.
Campfire Stew is one of those ‘chuck it all in’ recipes that is sooo easy to prepare.
A gammon joint, chop some fresh vegetables, add a couple of cans and some herbs. Bish, bash, bosh into the slow cooker. Job done!
It’s perfect for batch cooking, freezes well and is popular with the whole family.
Syn Free Bolognese risotto
A Syn Free Spaghetti Bolognese is always a great choice on Slimming World, ideal for our Top Slimming World Budget Recipes list. Now we’ve switched things up a bit with our fabulous new Syn Free Bolognese Risotto.
This recipe uses all the flavours of a traditional Bolognese, but we’ve paired it with rice instead of spaghetti. This recipe is packed with speed vegetables, and you could add even more veg to make it go further.
This is another recipe that can be batch cooked in advance and frozen, great for making sure you’re prepared for the occasions when time is tight!
Syn Free Caribbean Jerk Stew
Our delicious Syn Free Caribbean Jerk Stew is worthy of a place in our list of Top Slimming World Budget Recipes. It’s a deliciously filling, hearty meal which is packed with speed vegetables.
To keep the cost of the ingredients right down, we used Ox cheeks in this recipe. Don’t let the name put you off, they are a really inexpensive cut of beef with an amazing flavour.
Ox cheeks need to be cooked low and slow, which makes them perfect in this recipe!
Your local butcher will almost certainly be able to get them for you. If your local supermarket has a butchery counter, ask there. If you’d rather use a different cut of beef, try shin or skirt.
Syn Free Turkey Ratatouille pasta bake
Here’s another winner for our Top Slimming World Budget Recipes – Syn Free Turkey Ratatouille Pasta Bake. Turkey is often overlooked as a meat that’s only eaten on Christmas day, but it’s an economical and low fat option for any occasion!
This recipe combines cooked turkey with pasta and vegetables for an easy pasta bake meal that the whole family will love!
It’s versatile too, as you can adapt the speed vegetables that are in the ratatouille to suit your personal tastes.
Syn Free Potato bacon onion bake
Our Syn Free Bacon, Onion and Potato bake is a great example for our Top Slimming World Budget recipes. It’s a simple dish which tastes amazing and doesn’t need any fancy ingredients.
The main ingredients really are just a few spuds and some bacon! Add some seasonings, a splash of stock and a sprinkling of cheese and you have an easy, filling meal. All you’ll need to do is add is your 1/3 plate of speed food.
It’s been such a popular dish since we put it on the website, why not try it for yourself!
Syn Free Dirty Rice/Cajun Dirty Rice
Dirty rice is a traditional Cajun/Creole dish made from white rice, a delicious variation on a traditional fried rice dish. We have two versions, the original Syn Free Dirty Rice using pork mince and the Syn Free Cajun Dirty Rice using beef.
Adding a clever combination of mince, vegetables and seasonings, this recipe is so tasty.
Low Syn Farfalloni Con Fungi
We had to include our Low Syn Farfalloni Con Funghi in our Top Slimming World Budget Recipes list because it’s just too good not to!
It’s an inexpensive and tasty way to feed the whole family. 5% Pork mince is readily available in the majority of supermarkets, and it’s usually cheaper than beef mince.
Low Syn Farfalloni Con Funghi can be padded out with any speed vegetables you’d like to add, for example extra mushrooms or broccoli, so that it goes even further. It can be batch cooked and frozen, too.
1 Syn Corned Beef Hash
The simplest recipes are often the best, and this 1 Syn Corned Beef Hash is real comfort food, using basic ingredients that give great flavour, perfect for our Top Slimming World Budget Recipes.
We use the Princes lean corned beef, because it is reduced fat, only 3 Syns for a 200g tin. The tin may look small, but it really does go a long way and will easily make a meal for a hungry family.
Our 1 Syn Corned Beef Pasties use it, too. If you haven’t tried those yet, you really need to, they’re fab!
Syn Free Chicken fajita pasta
If you’ve had a roast chicken for Sunday dinner, it makes sense to use the leftovers in a recipe too. This Syn Free Chicken Fajita Pasta is on our Top Slimming World Budget Recipes list as it’s a thrifty way to make a yummy meal!
By adding some simple herbs, spices and pasta to your chicken, you can change it completely and you’ve got yourself a tasty meal.
The best bit about this recipe is that you get all the fajita flavour without the Syns, so it’s great for a filling dinner that’s perfectly on plan.
Syn Free Orzo Primavera Pasta Salad
We’ve called this a salad, but it’s so much more and so Syn Free Orzo Primavera Pasta Salad is definitely one for our Top Slimming World Budget Recipes collection!
It’s full of speed vegetables and uses orzo pasta for a really filling and super tasty dish. You could enjoy this as a side dish, a snack or even take it on a picnic. You can also add a protein element, such as lean ham or chicken, to create a more substantial meal.
Syn Free Nando’s Peri Peri Chicken
When a recipe brings you all the flavour of Nando’s, but at a fraction of the price, we had to have it on our Top Slimming World Budget Recipes list! Our Syn Free Nando’s Peri Peri Chicken has all the taste, none of the Syns and is excellent value for money!
This recipe uses chicken thigh fillets, which are a great buy, along with some simple store cupboard ingredients, to create this amazing dish that’s packed with flavours that you’ll love.
So when you fancy a Nando’s, try the Fakeaway version instead. Your pocket will love you for it, and so will your waistline!
Syn Free Nando’s Spicy Rice
If you’re making the Syn Free Nando’s Peri Peri Chicken, it’s only right to make the Syn Free Nando’s Spicy Rice to go with it! For this reason, along with the fact that it’s delicious and great value, we’ve added it to our Top Slimming World Budget Recipes list.
This rice dish is so easy to make and tastes fab. You don’t just have to have it with the Syn Free Nando’s Peri Peri chicken, it also works really well as a side dish for lots of other meals, or how about on the barbecue table?
This is another dish that already has plenty of speed food, but you can obviously add more if you’d like to!
Syn Free Hummus
Our Top Slimming World Budget Recipes round up wouldn’t be complete without a snack or two, so we’ve included our Syn Free Hummus recipes here.
Hummus is one of the easiest things ever to prepare, and it’s an ideal snack food to take to work, or to keep in the fridge to beat those evening munchies. Who’d believe you could make something so yummy from a can of chick peas or butter beans?!
My absolute favourite one of these recipes is this Syn Free Beetroot & Mint Hummus. I usually have a container of this stashed in the fridge as it’s a great choice when you’re feeling peckish but it’s not time for dinner yet!
