Your Slimming Essentials – The Weekly Pinch of Shopping 14.08

The Weekly Pinch of Shopping | Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

You’ve been asking for it…so we listened…our weekly slimming essentials list is BACK.

This is the Weekly Pinch of Shopping!

We’ve had a little look around for some low-calorie products that we think you’ll love, as well as alternatives to higher calorie ingredients and items that are perfect for when you’re running low on time.

We do not take any kind of payment or exchange for featuring any products. Additionally, none of the products featured have been brought to us by a third party. We only ever bring you products that we have found ourselves and that we think you might love. No payment, no advert; just simple old-fashioned recommendations of stuff we love!

Lots of these products have been mentioned over on our Facebook Group, so if you’re not already a member then click here to join as there are always loads of exciting, new products being mentioned!

We’ve tried to show you slimming essentials that are available in a wide range of stores so that you can pick them up during your weekly shop, and to make things really convenient we’ve also listed any relevant nutritional info and the RRP.

Please do remember that all prices are correct at the time of us writing this article and should be used as a guide only!

Your Slimming Essentials – Meat-free beef Oxo cubes – 8 calories per 100g

The Weekly Pinch of Shopping | Oxo Cubes

We use stock in so many of our recipes, but if you’re cooking for vegetarians or vegans, you often have to miss out on the meaty stock flavour.

Oxo have recently introduced these meat-free beef Oxo cubes, so you can add a rich beefy taste with no artificial preservatives to your veggie cottage pies and stews and more.

We think these meat-free beef Oxo cubes are great for those looking to reduce their meat consumption or just widen their pantry options when cooking.

You could substitute the vegetable stock pot in our Veggie Keema Pie

We’ve spotted a 12-pack of these in Tesco and Asda for around £1. A great slimming essential!

Your Slimming Essentials – Iceland Ready Cooked Bang Bang Chicken Breast Strips – 126 calories per 100g

The Weekly Pinch of Shopping | Chicken Strips

Iceland often has different varieties of precooked, flavoured chicken strips that are low in calories and really easy to toss in a salad or sandwich for extra flavour and a protein hit.

These Iceland Ready Cooked Bang Bang Chicken Strips are so handy to have in the freezer for those days when you fancy something fast and fuss-free!

This slimming essential has a rich Chinese flavour, and would be ideal for a quick dinner alongside Fakeaway Fried Rice and some steamed veggies.

Your Slimming Essentials – Dash Water Peach Infused Sparkling Water – Calorie FREE

The Weekly Pinch of Shopping | Dash Water

This Dash Water peach infused sparkling water could well be our new go-to summer drink.

It’s super refreshing and the best thing is that it contains no sugar, sweeteners or calories.

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, Dash Water is helping to tackle food waste by using only surplus fruit or peaches deemed too imperfect for supermarkets.

We can definitely get behind a product that tastes good and does good!

We found this Dash Water peach infused sparkling water in Ocado for £1.29 a can and they’re also currently on offer in Sainsburys at £2.75 for 4 cans – bargain!

Your Slimming Essentials – Iceland Lemon Slices – 16 cal for 80g

The Weekly Pinch of Shopping | Lemon Slices

We love these Iceland lemon slices because they’re freshly frozen meaning no more food waste or leaving a lonely looking lemon half in your fridge for days!

You have a pre-chilled slice to pop in an Elderflower Gin Fizz to keep it cool, or for a speedy garnish for Creamy Lemon Chicken or Lemon Drizzle Cake!

Your Slimming Essentials – Smooze Fruit Ice – 102 calories each

The Weekly Pinch of Shopping | Smooze Lollies

We’ve seen some scorching weather recently, and sometimes all you’re craving is something fruity and iced to cool you down!

Instead of reaching for the full-sugar lollies, try a Smooze! Fruit Ice.

One of the members in our Facebook group, Nicola Longhurst, spotted these Smooze! Fruit Ices and we think they’ll be great for hot summer evenings and picnics in the sun.

Vegan, gluten and nut free, they’re a great slimming essential for a number of dietary restrictions, and they’re only 102 calories each!

Available in a range of coconut flavours, you can bring a touch of the tropical to your back garden this summer!

We found the Smooze! Fruit Ices in Sainsbury’s and Tesco from £2.50 for a 5-pack.

The Weekly Pinch of Shopping | Heinz Salad Spray

Hate soggy salad? Heinz’ Salad Dressing Spray could be the answer you’ve been looking for.

At just 2 calories per spray and with absolutely no artificial colours or flavours, these handy sprays come in a variety of flavours, but our favourite HAS to be the Chilli & Lime.

It’s such a quick and easy way to jazz up some boring salad leaves, or why not try it spritzed over our KFC Rice Box to add a zingy twist?

Your Slimming Essentials – Smirnoff Seltzer Orange & Grapefruit – 72 calories per can

The Weekly Pinch of Shopping | Smirnoff

We all love a cheeky little drink at the weekend, but alcohol can be packed full of hidden calories which means it’s not always ideal on your slimming journey!

This Smirnoff Seltzer Orange & Grapefruit is really fruity and refreshing and comes in at just 72 calories per can.

It’s super convenient for enjoying in the garden, with a picnic or even just at home and we LOVE it served with our Orzo Primavera Pasta Salad.

If you prefer a sweeter taste, then these cans are also available in Raspberry & Rhubarb and you can find both flavours of Smirnoff Seltzer at Sainsburys for £1.85 a can.

Your Slimming Essentials – Magnum No Added Sugar – Vanilla Caramel – 154 calories each

The Weekly Pinch of Shopping | Magnum

Magnum ice cream is rich and decadent, and usually firmly OFF the table when you’re following a slimming plan, but now you can get your hands on those creamy chocolatey, treats with no added sugar!

The vanilla caramel flavour has a sweet, salted caramel sauce running through so they are ideal for caramel lovers.

At only 154 calories each and naturally gluten free, these Magnum no added sugar ice creams will hit the spot but with a whopping saving on sugar and fat.

Ideal as a dessert or a mid afternoon pick-me-up, we’ve found these Magnum no added sugar ice creams in all the major supermarkets including Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Ocado, priced from £3.50 for a box of 3.
