Our favourite pastry substitute has come to the rescue once again. Weight Watchers wraps have been an absolute revelation when it comes to pastry recipes and we’ve got a whole heap of recipes which use them.

You’ll need a few baking basics to make these Mince Pies.

Firstly, a muffin tin like this one from Amazon.

We use a muffin tin for soooo many recipes, like these 1.5 Syn Yorkshire Puddings!

You’ll also need some pastry cutters. A set like this one from Amazon are really useful as they’ve got all the sizes you could ever possibly need!

This set of pastry cutters also includes the little star shapes you’ll need for the tops of your Mince Pies!

How many Calories are in these Mince Pies?

Shop bought Mince Pies can set you back over 200 calories each. Our version work out at just 49 calories each!

Can I freeze these Mince Pies?

This recipe can be frozen, but please remember to do the following;
– Freeze it as soon as it is cold enough
– Use a container or bag that is suitable for freezing.
– Defrost thoroughly before eating.

 

How do I make these Mince Pies?

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180ºC.

Step 2

Using a circular pastry cutter, cut 12 circles, just big enough than each dip of the muffin tin. Also cut 12 small star shapes – you should have enough space in 3 wraps to cut all the items you need.

Step 3

Push each circle of wrap carefully into each dip in the muffin tin. Place a teaspoon of mincemeat into each one and top with a small star.

Step 4

Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush over each star using a pastry brush. Place into the oven for 22 minutes until golden and crisp.

      The wraps don’t stick in the same way as pastry would, so we didn’t find it necessary to grease the tray. If you’re worried about the possibility of them sticking, just squirt each space in the tray with some frylight. This won’t alter the Syn values. Thanks for getting in touch!

      You can use any store-bought mincemeat, just be sure to check the Syns for your particular brand. As an guide, the app says that a teaspoon is 0.5 Syns and a tablespoon of mincemeat is listed as 2 Syns. Hope that helps. 🙂
