Imagine your favourite fast food order, but better! We spotted these Maple Bacon Dijon Burgers on a limited edition drive-through menu a while back, and we knew right away that we could make them slimming friendly and even more delicious.
For maximum flavour, we’ve mixed mustard powder into our homemade, lean beef patties, to complement the tasty Dijon and maple sauce. The burgers, bacon and sauce are loaded into lightly-toasted ciabattas, which feel a little bit fancier than a typical burger bun. Because our favourite Schar ciabattas are gluten free, you can enjoy these burgers on a gluten-free diet (just make sure you use Henderson’s relish rather than Worcestershire sauce for the patties).
You’ll fall in love with these from the very first loaded bite, so why not think ahead and prepare the burger patties in advance? You can freeze them raw, so they’re ready to defrost and cook the next time you fancy recreating your favourite fast food order at home.

You can make these Maple Bacon Dijon Burgers gluten free by using Henderson’s relish rather than Worcestershire sauce. The Schar ciabattas we have used are also gluten free.

We’ve used Schar ciabattas instead of traditional burger buns. These are gluten free and can be found in most supermarkets or ordered online from Amazon.
A burger press is not essential but can come in handy if you often make your own homemade burger patties.
How many calories are in this Maple Bacon Dijon Burger?

Step 1
Mix all the patty ingredients together in a bowl. It’s best to mix with your hands, as this helps to bring the meat together.

Shape the mixture into 4 oval patties about 1cm thick and leave to rest in the fridge for 15 minutes.

While the patties are resting, spray your frying pan with some low-calorie cooking spray and place over a medium heat. Add the onion to the pan and cook for 5 minutes, until they begin to soften.
Step 4
Push the onions to the edges of the pan and put your bacon medallions in. Cook them for 2 minutes on each side, or until cooked through to your liking. Transfer the bacon and onions to a plate and cover with foil while you cook the burgers.
Step 5
Cut your buns in half. Spray with low-calorie cooking spray on the cut side and place in the frying pan to toast for 1-2 minutes. Once done, set aside.
Step 6
Spray the frying pan with more low-calorie cooking spray and set on a medium heat. Cook the burgers for around 5 minutes each side until cooked through. If using a barbecue, spray the burgers with low-calorie cooking spray before placing on the griddle to cook.
Step 7
Once the burgers are cooked, turn off the heat and put a slice of cheese on each burger. Place a lid or large plate over the pan and set aside while you prepare the sauce.
Step 8
Mix all the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl until smooth.
Step 9
On the bottom half of the bun place a burger, a bacon medallion, some onion and sauce, then add the top half of the bun. Serve with a side of your choice.
What could I serve with this Maple Bacon Dijon Burger?
This is a proper, hearty burger that’s nice and filling when it’s served with a fresh side salad. Adding 75g of mixed salad will add an extra 15 calories, taking the total to 420 calories per serving.

How do you know when Maple Bacon Dijon Burger is cooked?
You should cook this Maple Bacon Dijon Burger until the burger patty is cooked all the way through, with no pinkness left in the middle. This will take around 10 minutes.

We wouldn’t recommend keeping this recipe in the fridge after cooking. The burgers will taste best when they are cooked, assembled and eaten right away. If you wanted, you could prepare the burger patties in advance and keep the raw patties in the fridge for a few hours before cooking.

Is the calories just for the burger itself or everything with it?
