Step 2: Get to know your air fryer

The beauty of cooking with an air fryer is that it doesn’t matter what make or model you use, it’s still an absolute lifesaver in the kitchen. Some come with fancy features like dual zone cooking for finishing different foods at the same time, or steam-combo functions to make things even crispier. Whatever you’re working with, they all deliver delicious results.

As well as being speedy to cook with, air fryers are easy to clean, and ideal for cooking lighter versions of your favourite meals (as you’ll find with Air Fryer Light & Easy!). Once you start incorporating yours into your regular routine, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it.

We get asked all the time about what kind of air fryer we use, and the answer is: a Dual Zone Air Fryer with a 9.5 litre capacity and 2470W of power. If you’ve not got an air fryer at home yet, or you’re considering upgrading a lower-budget model, we’d recommend the Ninja Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer AF400UK.

Like we mentioned above, those handy dual drawers take the stress out of timing, letting you cook two different air fryer meals simultaneously so everything is ready when you need it. You could be cooking up our Katsu Cod while making our Cookie Dough Pots for dessert. Double the yum!

You’ll also find a full section on our favourite bits of air-frying kit on pages 22-27. We’re not saying you need to buy everything we’ve suggested; they’re mostly nice-to-have gadgets and accessories that you might find useful!

Step 3: Take stock of your ingredients and write your meal plan

Start by having a quick look through what you’ve already got in your kitchen. Your air fryer can turn everyday ingredients into something really special, from speedy chicken dinners and crispy veg to lighter versions of your favourite comfort foods. No need for anything complicated or hard to find, chances are, you’re already halfway there.

Once you know what you’ve got, build your weekly meal plan around it. Pick a few recipes from the book that fit your ingredients and your week ahead, and get frying!

Step 4: Make the most of our brand new Easy to Halve Index

We know that not every meal needs to serve a crowd, which is why our brand new Easy to Halve Index in Air Fryer Light & Easy is here to change your life in the kitchen for the better. It takes all the guesswork out of scaling recipes down, so you can effortlessly turn meals designed for four people into perfectly portioned dinners for two. No more awkward maths or second-guessing ingredient amounts! It’s ideal for smaller households, couples, or anyone who wants to cook smarter without wasting food or time.

Step 5: Visit our Air Fryer Hub for extra inspo and support

We’ve included plenty of air fryer tips and little bits of guidance throughout Air Fryer Light & Easy to help you get brilliant results every time. Whenever a recipe needs a specific tray, rack, or handy accessory, we’ll point it out clearly so you know exactly what to use.

We’ve also built flexibility into the recipes wherever we can, with simple ingredient swaps to suit different tastes and needs. At a glance, you’ll be able to see all the key dietary information using the handy badges at the top of each recipe, along with clear notes on whether the dish is suitable for freezing, making planning ahead that bit easier.

For instance, you’ll be pleased to know our Red Pepper Bites are freezer-friendly and can be saved for another day. That’s breakfast sorted for the week!
