Getting the Most Out of Our Third Pinch of Nom Cookbook
Pinch of Nom: Quick & Easy is finally here!
Our third cookbook does exactly what it says on the tin: 100 simple, fuss free recipes that even a total novice can rustle up with ease, without spending hours in the kitchen!
As always, we’ve kept the recipes and equipment super simple so that more people can enjoy tasty food without scouring the shelves for obscure ingredients or spending a fortune on fancy gadgets.
To keep it accessible for everyone, there will be a few things we recommend to make the most of the book but they’re not essential by any means.
You can enjoy this cookbook without them and with any skill level.
These recommendations are not only useful for using alongside the book, you can use them for our huge selection of slimming friendly website recipes, as well as some of the ones from our first two cookbooks too!

How to make the most of our third cookbook:
Knife Set
This cookbook is packed full of fresh veggies and most of them need to be sliced and diced in some way.
Not only is it dangerous to use a blunt knife when chopping vegetables, it also takes way more effort than it should!
We’d recommend a set of sharp knives like this one, including a serrated edge for cutting bread, and a larger knife for meat and cheese.
If you’d prefer to spruce up the blade of your existing knives, it’s essential you use a safe knife sharpener like this one.
Just make sure you mind your fingers!
Slow Cooker
We love our slow cooker: it’s so easy to pop all of the ingredients in and get on with your day!
Many of the recipes in the new book are suitable for slow cooking and if you don’t already have one, you can get them pretty cheap on Amazon and it will pay for itself in convenience and ease straight away.
We also have a dedicated category on the website, full of hearty recipes like our Caribbean Jerk Stew.
We’re sure a slow cooker will be one of your kitchen essentials in no time!
Tupperware
You’ve told us how much you love planning and prepping for the week ahead.
Whether you’re rustling up breakfast the night before to save time in the morning rush, or you’re filling the freezer for another day – we have you covered.
Choose freezer and microwave friendly containers that you can wash and re-use.
Not only is this better for the environment, but you may find you’ll save money in the long run by not buying disposable bags.
We like to use clear ones so you can see the contents at a glance, but always label them with the contents and date to avoid mystery freezer roulette!
A good quality marker is good for this:
There’s a whole Batch Cook category in the book, so you’ll always have meals on hand for those days that you’re lacking in time or motivation.
We’ve also got loads of batch cooking recipes available on our website – perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
It’s really important to heed the NHS advice for storing and reheating food which you can find here.
Remember, if your dish includes rice then you’ll need to be a bit more careful. You can find advice on reheating rice here.
Henderson’s Relish
Henderson’s Relish is one of our favourite ingredients, and something we use in many of our recipes.
It’s essentially a condiment, similar to Worcestershire sauce. The major difference? It’s naturally gluten free!
You can pick it up at the supermarket or online, but it adds a real depth of flavour, especially if you’re cooking for those following a gluten free diet.
We use it in our deliciously savoury Cowboy Pie, for instance!
Food processor
Many of the new recipes in the book call for ingredients to be blitzed, especially things like sauces and soups.
We use our food processor for SO much, from chopping onions to turning stale bread into breadcrumbs!
A food processor like this one can make light work of blending pretty much anything, and you can use it again and again for things like Hummus.
Ramekins
Ramekins are one of the best finishing touches in our opinion. You can break up pretty much any recipe into smaller individual portions and cook in ramekins and serve to the table!
It really elevates a simple meal into something a little fancier and helps with portion control too.
You can go for plain ones or mismatch them for a more rustic look.
When you’re not cooking in them, you can use them to serve freshly chopped fruit, homemade dips, or even keeping food separate on your slimming-friendly full English!
Take a look at our sumptuous Apple Crumble for example: how beautiful does it look in individual ramekins?
