Things to Make with Marmite - Pinch of Nom Slimming Recipes

Love it or hate it, Marmite is one of the most (in)famous British store cupboard staples available! There’s no denying that the controversial condiment is a surefire, budget-friendly way to unlock new levels of savoury flavour while you’re cooking, whether the distinctive, salty flavour is up your street or not. From bolognese and burgers to stews and soups, a vitamin-loaded spoonful of Marmite goes a long way!

If you’re not convinced, here’s a few of our favourite recipes that use Marmite to whet your appetite. Trust us, you’re going to LOVE them…

Marmite Hob Top Recipes

When you’d rather save the energy and avoid using the oven, a tasty hob-top recipe is the way to go. Next time you’re rustling up a pasta-based dinner for the whole family, you might want to consider adding a dollop or two of Marmite into the pan too! Since it’s a vegetarian-friendly condiment, Marmite adds an extra layer of satisfying savoury goodness to veggie recipes like our Creamy Tomato Vodka Pasta. Leave it to bubble away in the pan with tinned tomatoes and veggie stock until you’re left with a thick, rich sauce to combine with your favourite pasta shapes. Don’t forget to mop up any saucy leftovers with a bit of Cheesy Garlic Bread!

Since we’ve got Marmite and pasta on the brain, it wouldn’t be right not to mention our super simple Marmite Pasta recipe. Ready in under 15 minutes, with only 5 ingredients needed, there’s really no excuse not to give it a whirl. Traditional versions of this recipe tend to involve lots of butter, so we wanted to give it a slimming-friendly Pinch of Nom twist (and we smashed it!). Why not save a few batches in the freezer so you’ll never be caught out without a plan for dinner?

When you’re planning your weekly routine in advance, recipes that freeze well are your best friend. Our Vegan Chilli is a freeze-friendly dream because it tastes even better a few days later, after the Marmite-seasoned lentils, beans and veggies have had a bit of time to mingle.

Marmite lovers might be familiar with Marmite on Toast, but if you’re rustling up a breakfast for a fussy eater or two, you might have to be a little more discreet. Don’t worry! Our Marmite Mushrooms on Toast is the perfect solution to enjoying Marmite first thing in the morning, without worrying about the flavour being overpowering. We’ve combined mushrooms with Marmite and calmed down the intense umami flavours with Philadelphia Light; say hello to the creamy sauce that’ll become your new favourite toast topper (bye-bye, toast and jam!).

For only 187 calories per serving, we’d say this one’s well worth trying with your morning cuppa!

Marmite Oven Cook Recipes

For us, nothing says comfort quite like a homemade pie. Next time you’re rustling up an oven bound potato-topped dinner, you definitely want to consider adding Marmite. For our rich, meaty Sausage and Marmite Pie recipe, we’ve used Marmite to make our potato topping rich and moreish. You might not expect a sausage pie to be an option on a slimming-friendly diet, and yet our dish comes in at only 384 calories per serving (winner!). We’d say that leaves room for a sprinkling of Cheddar cheese on top, wouldn’t you?

When you want the warming indulgence of a pie for fewer calories, you can always rely on a meat-free dish like our Veggie Keema Pie. The Marmite we’ve added to our Keema-seasoned lentils gives this dish a lift of meat-like flavour that’s so good, no one will be able to taste the difference! Leave this one to bake in the oven until the veggies tenderise and your pie topping is golden brown. Delicious!`

The good thing about Marmite is it’s far from a vegetarian-only party! Vegans can come along too, especially if you’re whipping up a crowd-pleaser like our Vegan Spaghetti and Meatballs. Using a combination of beans, veggies, oats and (of course!) Marmite, we’ve created homemade vegan meatballs that are just as tasty as the real deal – honestly, you have to try them! Don’t be afraid to get right in there and wrap this one around your fork! You’ll know it’s going down a treat when everyone’s slurping their spaghetti at the table.

Order up! Who fancies burgers for dinner tonight? The sun doesn’t have to be shining for these Turkey Burgers to taste delicious with a crisp side salad. We combine a surprising combination of roasted aubergine and Marmite (yes, really!) to make sure our turkey mixture binds well, while tasting glorious. To get the best results from your burger patties, use a stick blender to blitz your ingredients into a fine paste before shaping and baking them in the oven.

You have to get your hands a little dirty, but the results are so worth it (we promise!).

If all these delicious main dishes have you licking your lips and on the lookout for a flavour-filled side dish, our Marmite Roasties are a carby, comfort-laden option. We’ve kept the Marmite glaze quite mild, but you can always enjoy a stronger Marmite taste from your roasties’ crispy skin by adding an extra tablespoon or two. It all depends how punchy you want the flavours to be!

Thinking of adding a pop of green to your plate? We’ve combined two notorious flavours to make one extremely delicious veggie side dish with our low-calorie Marmite Sprouts. They’re a great option when you’re looking for a meat-free alternative that still has all the satisfying saltiness of Brussels Sprouts with Bacon. The contrast of sweet sprouts and salty Marmite is what makes this dish a real treat! Once you try them, we don’t doubt they’ll become a roast dinner staple (forget about waiting for Christmas!).
