These super tasty Low Syn Falafel Burgers are so packed full of flavour that you won’t feel like you’re missing out on a meaty burger.
They’re really versatile too – stick them in a flat bread, shape them into balls as a traditional falafel or serve with some rice.
This recipe makes 8 small burgers, but you could make it into 4 – just adjust the Syns accordingly.

These Low Syn Falafel Burgers are soooo easy to make. You’ll just need a food processorto blitz all the ingredients together!
We use a food processor for loads of recipes – it’s a must have kitchen tool!

These Low Syn Falafel Burgers are just 0.5 Syns for 2! These are waaaaay better than any shop bought ones.
The only ingredient which has a Syn value is the flour, and this really helps to make the texture just right and binds them all together so they hold their shape!
There are a few things you can garnish these Low Syn Falafel Burgers with. The salsa in this Syn Free Halloumi Cous Cous Burgers with Salsa is the perfect accompaniment!
We’ve used a dollop of fat free yoghurt in these Low Syn Falafel Burgers too!
Whatever you choose don’t forget to check the Syn value and adjust it accordingly.
You’ll also have to leave out the yogurt if you are following SP or a dairy free diet.
Can I freeze these Low Syn Falafel Burgers?
This recipe can be frozen, but please remember to do the following;
– Freeze it as soon as it is cold enough
– Use a container or bag that is suitable for freezing.
– Defrost thoroughly before reheating.
Make sure it’s piping hot before serving!
How do I make these Low Syn Falafel Burgers?
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Rinse and drain a 400g tin of chickpeas and pat dry.
Pour the chickpeas into a food processor. Chop the onion and garlic into large chunks and add to the food processor, along with the chilli powder, ground cumin, salt, coriander and flour.
Blitz until the mixture starts to come together into a ball. Roll into 8 even balls and flatten to make burger shapes – these should be around 1cm thick.
Spray a baking tray with Frylight and place the burgers onto the tray. Spray the tops of the burgers and cook in the oven for 25 minutes. Turn after this time, spray again with Frylight and cook for a further 15 minutes.
Remove from the oven and eat while hot! You can also eat these cold with a dip!
