Sausage rolls and pigs in blankets are buffet and party table classics but are usually high in calories and use full fat pork so they’re not a great choice when you’re following a slimming plan! What if we told you that you could make a slimming friendly sausage roll even better? Introducing Pigs in Blankets in Puff Pastry!

Mini low fat chipolatas wrapped in salty bacon and encased in crispy puff pastry, perfect for snacking on over the Christmas period.

Do you need any special ingredients to make these Pigs in Blankets in Puff Pastry?

Low fat chipolatas are essential to keeping these Pigs in Blankets in Puff Pastry lower in calories. We used Heck branded low fat chipolatas, but any brand will do as long as they’re low fat.

Each chipolata should be long enough to be able to twist in half to make two smaller ones.

You can find ready-made light puff pastry in the chilled aisle at the supermarket, and it’s SO easy to use. You can make the most of the leftover pastry in many other of our recipes too, so it won’t go to waste.

See what others have to say

Becki SeniorWednesday 30th December 2020

I made these yesterday in denial about Christmas being over and OMG they are amazing. They took a bit longer to cook but that was just because I had a bit more puff pastry on them and I wanted them to be crispy. Delicious.
