Halloween party recipes
Whether you’re putting on a family tea party or going all out with a Monster Mash themed Halloween bash, you’re going to need some picky party food.
While traditional Halloween treats bring to mind sugary sweets and indulgent snacks, there are lots of options out there for anyone trying to eat a little healthier.
So, transform your home into a house of horrors, change into your creepiest costume and try your hand at a few of these Halloween themed party recipes.
These Red Pepper Deviled Pumpkin Eggs are the perfect place to begin. Super simple to make, these devilish boiled eggs are stuffed with a creamy red pepper and quark filling. We’ve even used roasted red peppers out of the jar to make life easier – minimum faff, maximum flavour!
Scoop out the yolks and mix them into the filling before piping it back into the centre. All you need is a dusting of paprika and a little piece of chive to create a cute little pumpkin design!
Each one is made from half an egg, so they’re high in protein and just 50 calories.
You’ll want to make sure to fill up on savoury snacks before the trick-or-treat goodies get shared around. Finger sandwiches are a party-food staple, and kids and grown-ups alike will adore these tasty bitesize Scary Spider Sandwiches.
Pretty much anything goes with these. We’ve filled ours with a creamy egg mixture and used sliced olives to give the spooky spiders those eerie eyes.
You can switch up the filling to any flavour you’d prefer, and if you don’t like olives you can try some other ingredients for eyes.
These are so fun to make – get the whole family involved and see who can make the creepiest creepy crawly!
When you’re ready to move onto something sweeter, Halloween treats don’t come much more ghoulish than these Boonanas.
Almost too cute to eat, you’ll love how quick and easy they are. All you need are a few chocolate chips, bananas and some yoghurt!
You can use whatever flavour of yoghurt you’d like, but make sure you pick up a fat free version if you’re watching what you eat. Our recipe comes in at 70 calories per Boonana but this will vary depending on how much chocolate you add.
Another one that the kids can get involved with, once the yoghurt has frozen you can pipe ghoulish faces onto each banana – will your ghosts be friendly or fearsome?
Every party needs cake, right? We think this Baked Pumpkin Cheesecake is the only way to round off Fright Night.
A deliciously creamy, indulgent cheesecake for 140 calories per slice? We’d call that a Halloween treat.
The crumbly cheesecake base is made from our trusty favourite – Lotus Biscoff biscuits. With a slightly spiced, caramel flavour, they complement the sweet pumpkin filling so well!
Bake the cheesecake until it has a slight wobble in the centre and leave it to cool overnight if possible. We’ve left ours plain but you can add some spooky decorations if you’re feeling creative!
Our favourite thing about this recipe is that you can choose to make it into 12 individual cheesecakes if you prefer. Super versatile and terrifyingly tasty!

The supermarket shelves are already bursting with the vibrant orange hues of freshly picked pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. If you can’t wait to get stuck in with transforming yours into scary, spooky or downright terrifying Jack O’Lanterns, we’ve got plenty of ideas on how to use up that leftover pumpkin.
You’ll need to scoop out the flesh to hollow out your pumpkins, but there’s no need for it to go to waste! Aside from turning it into a soup, you can embrace all that autumnal flavour and create these delicious pumpkin-rich dishes to enjoy at Halloween.
How about a caffeine kick from a yummy Pumpkin Spice Latte? If you need a boost of energy to fuel you through a night of trick-or-treating with the kids, this creamy coffee is the way to go.
Unlike the versions you get in the coffee shops, our PSL isn’t super high in calories – and it uses real, fresh pumpkin. You can make the pumpkin puree in advance and keep it in the fridge for a few days, so it’s ready whenever the craving for something sweet and caffeinated kicks in!
Still got loads of pumpkin to use up? Perfect! This Pumpkin Pie needs to be on your Halloween menu.
You might think it sounds a little too indulgent to be slimming friendly, but we promise you, this recipe will fit in with whatever diet plan you’re following! It’s just 104 calories per slice.
Even if you don’t have fresh pumpkin to spare, this recipe is easy to make. You can grab a tin of pumpkin puree from the supermarket, or even use butternut squash puree if you don’t really like pumpkin.
Although it’s naturally a sweet tasting vegetable, you can use up your pumpkin in savoury recipes too. It can be substituted pretty much anywhere that calls for butternut squash.
Why not try making this fluffy Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Mash but with pumpkin instead? Combined with the sweet potatoes, you’ll have a rustic side dish that’s perfect for serving with dinner on All Hallow’s Eve.
Hearty and warming, it’s a good way to fill your belly up before heading out into the chilly evening dressed in your spookiest outfit.
For anyone who loves pumpkin in its purest form, chances are you buy it to eat, rather than carve. If this is you, we’re sure you’ll agree it’s hard to beat perfectly seasoned pumpkin, roasted in the oven until it’s crispy and golden.
Chop it into slices and follow the steps in this Butternut Squash Roasties recipe for garlicky, herby pumpkin that can be enjoyed as an extra vegetable on your Sunday roast or as a replacement for potatoes.
It doesn’t come simpler or more delicious.

If you fancy getting crafty in the kitchen, why not whip up a batch of these Double Choc Chip Cookies to decorate?
Our version is plain, but you could always mix up some icing and set the kids a spooktacular challenge. Who can turn their cookie into a scary scene? Just don’t forget to adjust the calories or set a few plain ones aside for anyone who’s keeping track of calories.
These Spiced Christmas Biscuits are also perfect for decorating! Too good to save for Christmas, these don’t have to be festive-themed. Keep an eye out in the supermarket for Halloween themed cookie cutters or try making your own templates in the shape of bats or witches’ hats.
