Beef and broccoli in a savoury soy and ginger Chinese-style sauce: the perfect fuss-free fakeaway that’s ready in only 25 minutes!
The fragrant, sticky sauce reminds us of the one you’d get from the takeaway that’s made with oil and sugar, but we’ve made some clever slimming swaps to keep it light: granulated sweetener adds the sweetness, and the fish and soy sauces create a rich, deep sauce that’s so moreish! We’ve used crisp fresh peppers, onions and broccoli, but you can throw in any leftover veggies you have in the fridge for a budget friendly dinner that is ideal for a weeknight or when you’re rushed for time.
We love a timesaving tip, and you can even freeze the beef and broccoli mix to speed things up next time, and just pop some noodles on the hob for a few minutes while you reheat!
What diets are these Beef and Broccoli Noodle Bowls suitable for?
This Beef and Broccoli Noodle Bowls recipe is suitable for dairy free diets. It can be made gluten free by swapping the following ingredients for gluten free ingredients:
- Egg noodles
- Soy sauce
Please make sure to double or triple check all of your ingredients if you’re cooking for people with allergies.
Do you need any special ingredients to make these Beef and Broccoli Noodle Bowls?
We’ve used a few bits from the world foods aisle at the supermarket in this recipe, but they’re so handy to have in the cupboard because you’ll use them time and time again. Fish sauce can put a lot of people off, but it serves to add a richness and doesn’t taste ‘fishy’ at all when used in small quantities, it’s worth a try if you’ve not used it before!
Henderson’s Relish is similar to Worcestershire sauce but is gluten free, so we have used it in this recipe to make it suitable for a gluten free diet. It can be found in the condiments aisle.

Hi! This looks good – I’m roasting a joint of beef on Sunday but will probably have loads left over, if I made this but then added the cooked beef towards the end, do you think it would work? Thanks in advance!
LisaSunday 12th March 2023
I think that sounds like an excellent way to use up leftover beef. Hope you enjoy it!

Hi there! Is this meant to feed 4 or 2. It seems very little for 4 people. Thank you!
HollyMonday 21st November 2022
Hi Bernie, the recipe serves 4 but if you’d like to bulk it out you could add more vegetables or noodles and adjust the calories accordingly, hope that helps!

How many cals would this be without the noodles? I’d sub potentially for bean sprouts!
HollyMonday 5th July 2021
Hey Catrin, we have a guide HERE which will help you make any alterations to the recipe, hope that helps!

Which cookbook is this in? I have three PON books and I know this is on one but I can’t find it, and I much prefer cooking out of a book over a webpage!

Hi Catherine
This is one of our free, website exclusive recipes. It’s not in a book.

I’ve yet to try this dish but I’ve just tried to get the ingredients together and I can’t find Henderson relish in my local Asda, is there an alternative I can use or will it taste ok without it?
SharonTuesday 5th January 2021
Hi Michelle, you could use Worcestershire sauce as an alternative to Henderson’s Relish in this recipe. Hope that helps and that you enjoy this recipe.

What could I use instead of fish sauce for this recipe?? I’m not a fan but love this dish
HollyWednesday 2nd December 2020
Hi Sarah, you could use vegetarian fish sauce which has a much more subtle flavour or alternatively oyster sauce will work just great. As the recipe only uses 1tsp you could also omit and it will still taste okay. Hope that helps!
