‘Lovely filling meal. Said it serves up to 4 people but I got 6 servings. If I had put mushrooms and celery (can't eat these) in I would of got more servings. I served mine with extra veg on the side. But would be lovely with mash or new potatoes’

How many calories are in this Flava It! Campfire Stew recipe mix?

This recipe mix is designed to make 4 portions. The recipe mix is 37 calories per ¼ pack. 

Step 1

Soak the gammon joint overnight in cold water if necessary (please check the packet instructions on the joint).

Add all of the ingredients to a casserole dish, reserving half of the peppers to use later. Sprinkle in the contents of this sachet, stir well and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Place in an oven to cook.

Step 2

We suggest cooking for 2-3 hours at 170-180°C, checking and stirring every 30 minutes until cooked thoroughly.

Step 3

Once the gammon is falling apart and the sauce has thickened, add the reserved peppers into the dish and cook until soft.

How long can you keep Campfire Stew in the fridge?

Once you’ve put it out, ideally you should eat it within 4 hours

If you allow any leftovers to cool, make sure to refrigerate in a container with a lid. You can keep leftovers of Campfire Stew in the fridge for approximately 3 days or so.

Can I freeze this Campfire Stew?

Yes you can! This recipe can be frozen, but please remember to do the following;

  • Freeze it as soon as it is cold enough.
  • Use a container or bag that is suitable for freezing.

How do I reheat this Campfire Stew?

From chilled: Place in a microwavable container with a loosely fitting lid and heat for 4-7 minutes until piping hot.

From frozen: Allow to defrost, and heat covered in the microwave for 3-5 minutes then stir. Cook for a further 5-7 minutes until piping hot.

Ingredients

  • 1 gammon joint, (all fat removed)
  • 1 celery stick, chopped
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 3 bell peppers, diced
  • 2 large carrots, chopped
  • 8 button mushrooms, halved
  • 415 g tin of baked beans
  • 400 g tin of kidney beans
  • 400 g tin chopped tomatoes
