These Marshmallow Bars are perfect when served as a light dessert, an afternoon snack or as part of a buffet – they’re guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser!

What diets are these Marshmallow Bars suitable for?

These Marshmallow Bars are suitable for dairy free diets.

They may also be suitable for vegetarian diets, but you’ll need to check that your chosen marshmallows are suitable.

Please make sure to double or triple check all of your ingredients if you’re cooking for people with allergies.

How Weight Watchers friendly are these Marshmallow Bars?

  • You need to count 8 Points per portion of this Marshmallow Bars recipe if you’re on WW Green.
  • You need to count 8 Points per portion of this Marshmallow Bars recipe if you’re on WW Blue.
  • You need to count 8 Points per portion of this Marshmallow Bars recipe if you’re on WW Purple.

Do you need any special ingredients to make these Marshmallow Bars?

Sugar-free mini marshmallows?! Yup! We got ours from a specialist catering supplier, but you can pick them up from some supermarkets too.

You could also use normal marshmallows but you’d need to check the nutritional information as this will vary depending on the brand.

How many calories are in these Marshmallow Bars?

There are 248 calories in each portion of our slimming friendly Marshmallow Bars recipe. This means it falls into our Everyday Light recipe category.

This recipe is perfect if you’re following a calorie controlled diet and fits well with any one of the major diet plans such as Weight Watchers.

As a guide, an average man needs around 2,500kcal (10,500kJ) a day to maintain a healthy body weight. For an average woman, that figure is around 2,000kcal (8,400kJ) a day. Obviously, if your goal is to lose weight then you might want to adjust these slightly! You can read more about these recommendations on the NHS website.

Step 1

Melt the marshmallows in a glass bowl in the microwave. This will only take 10-15 seconds!

Step 2

Once melted, give it a stir. We’d recommend using a silicone spatula, as it makes the molten marshmallow easier to work with.

Step 3

Add the Cheerios to the molten marshmallows and stir well to combine. You will need to move quickly, as the marshmallow will stiffen as it cools. If you need to, return the mix to the microwave for 5 seconds at a time, to loosen the mixture up.

Step 4

Tip the Cheerio marshmallow mix into a rectangular/square dish, and flatten. You may need to use a spoon or knife heated in water for this bit! It’ll make the mix much easier to spread. If you run into difficulty, and the mix is too stiff, just pop it back in the microwave for 5 seconds at a time.

Step 5

Cover with clingfilm and place in the fridge to set. It’ll take 30 minutes to set, so you don’t have to wait that long to enjoy your Marshmallow Bars!

Step 6

Gently prise the mixture away from the bowl. You will need to cut around the edge with a sharp knife first. Tip onto a chopping board, and cut into however many pieces you like and enjoy!

How long can you keep these Marshmallow Bars for?

You should keep these in an airtight container and consume within 3 days as they will go stale.

Can I freeze Marshmallow Bars?

This recipe isn’t suitable for freezing.
