Half Syn Honey Glazed Roast Parsnips | Slimming World

In my opinion parsnips are an essential side dish for any roast dinner. Why not try these Half Syn Honey Glazed Roast Parsnips for something a bit different to accompany your roast dinner?

For the full list of ingredients and comprehensive instructions, please see the recipe card at the end of this post. Before you scroll, there’s important stuff in the blurb 👍

The sweetness of the honey really brings out the sweet flavours of the parsnips, and at only 1 syn per teaspoon it won’t break the syn bank! If you were to use shop bought honey glazed parsnips would cost you anything from 5 to 7 syns per 100g, so these Half Syn Honey Glazed Roast Parsnips are definitely worth the effort.

If you’ve got a busy day planned then you could always part boil the parsnips and coat them in the honey the night before, then just pop them on a tray and roast them the next day. Anything to make things that little bit easier…..especially at this time of year!

  1. Pre heat the oven to 200°C
  2. Bring a pan of salted water to the boil. While you're waiting peel the parsnips and cut off both ends
  3. Cut each parsnip into approx 6cm lengths. Leave the thin end whole but cut the thicker pieces into 4 wedges. Place them in the boiling water and simmer until they are just tender (probably around 4 or 5 minutes)
  4. Drain the parsnips and place them in a decent sized bowl
  5. If you are using set honey put the 2 teaspoons in a small heatproof dish and place it in a shallow dish of hot water, until the honey has melted. There's no need to do this if you are using runny honey
  6. Season the parsnips with a little sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Spray with a decent amount of Frylight then pour over the honey and mix well so that all the parsnips are coated
  7. Place on a nonstick baking tray (or a tray lined with foil) Give them one last spray with Frylight and cook for 20 - 25 minutes (turning halfway through) or until they are crisp and golden

  1. Would you be able to freeze these. I’m trying to get better at batch cooking. Just frozen loads of chips and the syn free chicken curry.

    1. Hi Lorna
You can change the amount you make by adjusting the number of servings button to suit you. The amounts of all ingredients are then changed for you.
We haven’t tried freezing them, but there’s no reason why they wouldn’t freeze successfully.
