How do I make this Syn Free Chicken Fajita Pasta?

Step 1

Cook the pasta as per the instructions on the packet. In a pestle and mortar, mix the cumin, coriander, chilli flakes, garlic salt and chilli powder until thoroughly combined.

Step 2

The chicken should be sliced into strips. Spray a pan with Frylight and cook the chicken for 5 minutes. Add the spice mix and tomato puree and cook out for 3 minutes.

Step3

Add the sliced peppers and onions, along with 200mls of water and mix well. Leave to cook for 10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the peppers and onions have just started to soften.

Step 4

Drain the pasta and combine with the chicken fajita mix. Serve with a dollop of fat free yoghurt, or your topping of choice!

      It should work using the same measurements as the whole spices, although you may need to experiment a little to get the balance right!

  1. Hi there – I want to make this dish tonight. Could I use the schwartz fajita spice instead of the other spices mentioned above ? I could still do the water and tomato purée to make it moist.

      The Schwartz sachets have a syn value, which you would need to check online. The Schwartz jar of fajita seasoning is free for a 3g serving.

  2. Made this tonight fir the first time using ground spices. Tasted good but think the flavours could have been stronger do woyld recommend adding a little more if using ground d instead of whole spices. I have some leftover do will see if the flavour improves tomorrow lunchtime . Otherwise love it, fast and easy!

  3. This is one of my go to recipes, It is a great one to tinker with and really make your own,
    I also found you can make “Fajita’s 2 Ways”

    In a bowl I put the sliced chicken then add the Cumin, Coriander, chilli and Tomato Puree, I also add smoked paprika and onion powder, hold back some of the dry seasoning for the veg 2 tsp of garlic paste (watch which ones you buy as some are not SYN free) and some Worcestershire sauce, Then using my hand I mix it all together, put a lid on it and allow it to marinade, I leave mine overnight but even if you can leave it for a couple of hours
    Then follow the instructions as per recipe

    If like me you have people who like their fajita’s wrapped, once the chicken and veg mix is cooked you can take out their portion and give it to them with wraps, then carry on the pasta recipe for your own portion
    Yum!

  4. Made a huge pan of this for family coming around last night ….went down a storm! Only downside was I had hoped there would be leftovers for lunch today …. no chance! :o) They loved it, not a morsel left! Thankyou! :o)
