I don’t know about you but I adore cheese. I could eat cheese forever.

Sadly, I’d end up the size of a house, so my Healthy Extra A allowance will just have to make do.

This Syn Free Hunters Chicken recipe only takes 3 hours or so on a high setting, but if you want to leave it on all day you should cook it on low or the chicken may dry out a little.

What do I need to make this Syn Free Hunters Chicken?

The Meat

For the chicken breasts, I’d urge you to get hold of our Protein Food Shop hampers.

They’re packed full of the BEST quality meat we’ve ever come across from an online butcher. The hamper is incredible value for money, working out FAR cheaper than the supermarket.

The chicken breasts are lovely, plump and don’t have that horrid vac-pack smell when you open them up!

You’ll also find bacon medallions in some of the hampers too.

The Slow Cooker

Slow cookers are great if you just want to throw everything in and have your dinner ready when you walk through the door.

You can pick up a slow cooker like this one from Amazon.

The Stick Blender

We use a stick blender like this to make the BBQ sauce Tower Hand Blender, because they are so easy to use and (just as importantly) so easy to clean.

This particular one has a masher attachment included, which is perfect for making our Syn Free Creamy Mashed Potatoes.

Cocktail Sticks

If you’re anything like us you’ll always have a pack of cocktails sticks lurking at the back of the cupboard, usually leftover from Christmas.

But if not you can pick some up from any supermarket or from Amazon.

How many Syns are in this Syn Free Hunters Chicken?

As the name suggests this is Syn Free…..but only if you are counting the cheese as half of your Healthy Extra A allowance.

If you’d rather Syn the cheese then it will work out at 3 Syns per portion.

Of course if you like it extra cheesy you could double the cheese and use your whole HEA or 6 Syns.

We use Schwartz Classic BBQ Seasoning in this recipe as it is Syn Free, but some aren’t so always check the Slimming World app or database.

How do I make this Syn Free Hunters Chicken?

Step 1

Take each chicken breast, wrap a bacon medallion around the middle.

Secure with a cocktail stick.

Step 2

Set the chickens aside, then add all of the remaining ingredients into the slow cooker and stir well.

Step 3

Place the chicken on top and replace the lid. Cook on high for 2.5 – 3 hours (or low if you’re leaving it on all day)

Step 4

When the time is up check that the chicken is cooked. Remove it from the slow cooker and set aside.

Step 5

Blitz the sauce with a stick blender until smooth.

Step 6

Place the cooked chicken in an ovenproof dish and remove the cocktail sticks.

Step 7

Pour the sauce over the chicken breasts and top with cheese.

Divide the cheese equally between all for chicken breasts.

Step 8

Place under a hot grill until the cheese is melted and a nice golden colour.

Can I freeze this Syn Free Hunters Chicken?

This recipe can be frozen, but please remember to do the following;
– Freeze it as soon as it is cold enough
– Use a container or bag that is suitable for freezing.
– Defrost thoroughly before reheating.

INSTRUCTIONS
Slow Cooker Method

  2. Set the chickens aside, then add all of the remaining ingredients into the slow cooker and stir well
  3. Place the chicken on top and replace the lid. Cook on high for 2.5 - 3 hours (or low if you're leaving it on all day)
  4. When the time is up check that the chicken is cooked. Remove it from the slow cooker and set aside
  5. Blitz the sauce with a stick blender until smooth
  6. Place the cooked chicken in an ovenproof dish and remove the cocktail sticks
  7. Pour the sauce over the chicken breasts and top with cheese. Divide the cheese equally between all for chicken breasts
  8. Place under a hot grill until the cheese is melted and a nice golden colour
Oven Method
  1. Take each chicken breast, wrap a bacon medallion around the middle and secure it with a cocktail stick

  3. Place the chicken on top and replace the lid. Cook for 1 hour at 180°C
  4. When the time is up check that the chicken is cooked. Remove it from the dish and set aside
  5. Blitz the sauce with a stick blender until smooth
  6. Place the cooked chicken in an ovenproof dish and remove the cocktail sticks
  7. Pour the sauce over the chicken breasts and top with cheese. Divide the cheese equally between all for chicken breasts
  8. Place under a hot grill until the cheese is melted and a nice golden colour

      It should be ok in the pressure cooker. You’d need to check the manual for your particular model as timings will vary. Use the timings suggested for chicken breasts.
