We’ve got bucket loads of recipes that deliver the flavours of your favourite takeaways faster than you can say “Don’t forget the Onion Bhajis”.
Whether you fancy a kebab, pasta dish or a Chinese-inspired favourite, making your own Fakeaway never disappoints. Not only do you get a taste of just what you were craving, you get it for far fewer calories, and in far less time than waiting for it to come to you.
So let’s get cracking with some fast fakeaway favourites! Which of these will be on the menu tonight?
Tex Mex Burgers – 20 minutes
Not only are these Tex Mex Burgers on your plate in 20 minutes, they mean you don’t have to choose between burger night and your favourite Mexican-inspired dish. The burger patties are infused with vibrant spices and chipotle chilli flakes for a punchy heat.
Serve them in a wholemeal bread roll and load them up with crunchy salad for a super satisfying alternative to a high-calorie cheeseburger from the local fast food place. You won’t be disappointed!
Spaghetti Carbonara – 20 minutes
Thinking of ordering Italian food tonight? Put down the phone and make this Spaghetti Carbonara recipe instead. From start to finish, it takes just 20 minutes to throw it all together, but it builds so much flavour in that short time!
We can’t lie; we surprised ourselves with how delicious this recipe turned out! It tastes every bit as indulgent as a restaurant version, although you’re saving yourself LOADS of calories. For 516 calories per serving, you’ll be twisting super creamy, cheesy spaghetti round your fork. The only thing that could make it better? A slice of Cheesy Garlic Bread on the side.
Ham and Mushroom Pizza Calzone – 20 minutes
Had pizza on the brain all day? Who could blame you; cheesy, carby goodness is completely irresistible. Ordering a takeaway pizza isn’t always the fastest route to that first delicious bite though – luckily these Ham and Mushroom Pizza Calzone are ready in 20 minutes.
Not only do they deliver a mouthful of tomatoey, cheesy pizza flavours, they’re just 390 calories each (and fun to make too!). It’s no secret that we love to make all kinds of recipes with tortilla wraps and this dish is no exception. You won’t miss out on the bready pizza base one bit – the baked wrap creates a parcel with such a satisfying crunch.
Chicken Pad Thai – 20 minutes
Fancy some noodles, chicken and crunchy veggies in a nutty sauce? For anyone with Pad Thai on the mind, we’ve got you covered with our healthy take on the classic dish. Our slimming-friendly Chicken Pad Thai subs in powdered peanut butter, which saves SO many calories, without losing any flavour.
You can have all your ingredients prepped in just 5 minutes, and the finished plate of food is on the table in well under half an hour. There’s no chance your delivery driver can beat that!
Salt and Pepper Pork – 20 minutes
If you’re anything like us, your usual Chinese takeaway order features at least a couple of salt and pepper dishes. The fiery spice mix really packs a punch when it comes to flavour – and it’s easier to recreate at home than you might expect!
Give this Salt and Pepper Pork a go if you’d rather not hang around for your dinner tonight. The key to getting all that flavour in just 20 minutes is prepping this one in advance. You’ll want to get your pork coated in the spices and marinating in the fridge at least an hour before you’re ready to cook.
Don’t skip the first step – toasting your salt in the pan might seem odd but it’s really important if you want to get that true salt and pepper flavour.
Banana Ketchup Curry – 25 minutes
If you’ve made a big batch of Banana Ketchup earlier in the week, you’ve already done a lot of the legwork towards throwing together this tangy and sweet Banana Ketchup Curry. This might not be your typical takeaway order but the flavours in this dish really speak for themselves.
The ketchup is inspired by a recipe from the Phillipines and it’s a taste bud-tingling blend of sweet and spicy that’ll be a welcome change for your fakeaway night.
Add a good scoop of fluffy basmati rice on the side and get stuck in!
Lemon Chicken – 25 minutes
Not only is this zingy Lemon Chicken on the table in under half an hour, we personally think it tastes even better than the version you can order from the Chinese takeaway. At 201 calories per serving, it’s much, much lighter too!
Unlike lots of other Chinese-inspired recipes, you don’t need a list of ingredients as long as your arm to make this one. This means it’s both simple AND speedy – exactly what you need on a busy day.
Grab your chopsticks, get settled and enjoy that sticky, citrusy sauce!
Beef and Broccoli Noodle Bowls – 25 minutes
If fuss-free and fast are top of your list for tonight’s dinner, feast your eyes on these Beef and Broccoli Noodle Bowls. This tasty yet humble recipe is a stir-fry at heart, which means it doesn’t need very long at all in the pan.
We love that you don’t need to be precious with this recipe – we’ve used peppers, onions and broccoli but there’s no reason you can’t throw in any veggies that need using up.
You’re going to love this Chinese-inspired stir-fry sauce! It’s rich and deep, with just the right hint of sweetness.
Salt and Pepper Chips – 30 minutes
That’s right, we really can’t get enough of those salt and pepper flavours! Your fakeaway night needs a side dish or two, and these Salt and Pepper Chips taste insane – trust us! They only take half an hour and they’ll give the takeaway version a run for its money.
The best thing about making them at home? You can make them as spicy or as mild as you like! So, if you ever find the ones you get from the chippy a bit too fiery, just go easy on the chillies until you’ve got the perfect heat for you.
Creamy Butter Chicken – 35 minutes
A serving of Creamy Butter Chicken for 210 calories? Yes, you really did read that right! We’ve always got a craving for this surprisingly slimming-friendly fakeaway dish. Despite the name, we’ve not used any butter in our version of this recipe – although it still tastes so indulgent.
Warming and seriously satisfying, you can serve this up to the whole family in just over half an hour. Pop some Onion Bhajis in the oven at the same time and everything will be ready to serve together.
